Newfane Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

3500 sqft Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Sleeps 8, Historic Barn, Orchard

Escape to this 70-acre estate in Southern Vermont that is 40 minutes from the slopes of Stratton and Mount Snow Ski Resorts. Stay in the super clean, light-filled farmhouse that hosts four large bedrooms including two master bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and interesting antiques. Explore the private wooded paths and the orchard with heirloom apples. Swim or skate at the small lake up the road; cross country ski in the winter or pick wild berries in the summer along the old stone walls; watch the deer, chipmunks, and wild turkeys through the large windows while lounging by the gas stove fire.

The Clark Farm is located just a mile and a half from historic Newfane Village, the county seat for Windham and one of New England's most charming villages. The Village of Newfane has a country store, bakery, farm produce seller, antique shops, the Newfane Creamery and the historic village green. Enjoy the blue grass bands that play on the courthouse steps and the artisan booths that crop up on the village lawn during the 'green' months of the year.

The historic Clark Farmhouse is fully renovated and sleeps eight comfortably. There are two bedrooms in each wing of the house. The two king-size bedrooms each have their own full bath. The queen-size bedroom and the kids room (with two twins) share a half bath and full bath. Because the two sleeping areas are separated by the kitchen/dining room and the family room, and there are two master bedrooms, the farmhouse is great for two families to share. The 3500 sq. ft house has two gas stoves––one in the family room and another in the game/tv room, a modern kitchen stocked with blender, rice cooker, and every cooking tool!, There is also a private office and a mud room with washer and dryer (not pictured). High speed WIFI and local calls included.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We truly enjoyed our time here at the Clark Farm. We were very happy to find this cozy house to rent on a search on the internet. We (my wife, and 2 young daughters and I) came to visit from Wisconsin to experience the beautiful, legendary Vermont autumn--we were very impressed. Among the many places we visited during our stay, this particular road was among the most beautiful that we discovered. A highlight of each day we were here was waking up and simply looking outside and appreciate the morning sun bathing the fall trees and born across the street in warm sunlight--truly a spectacular scene! During our time here, we explored the trails in the back of the house. We also explored Grout pond nearby. We enjoyed the Newfane Cafe & Creamery in town for a yummy lunch. We enjoyed a lovely hike at Jamaica State park. At the end of the day we enjoyed the wonderful amenities this house has to offer. We especially appreciated the toys available for our little ones. The beds were cozy too. :) If we come to visit the area again, we would certainly like to stay here again.

My family enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again soon!! My four year olds were pleasantly surprised when they found the toy chest. My 11 year old loved having his own room with a big bed! Plenty of bathrooms for our family of five. Nicely located in Newfane so close to Brattleboro and other areas to visit like the Townshend Dam. Lovely property to stroll around and everything you need in the home.

Wonderfully amazing

  • 5 of 5

The Clark Farm is beautiful and well-kept. It was everything we hoped for and more. We had easy access to hiking, biking and swimming. Grocery stores and good restaurants are a 5 to 10 minute drive away. The owners and property managers are a pleasure to work with and readily available. We highly recommend this property.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Clark Farm for a late summer get away last year with extended family. This gorgeous home had so much living space for our large family group; plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy. Indoors boasts a large dining room table for big group dinners or pulling up chairs for family game night (we did both!). Outside, there is a fire ring and plenty of chairs for a campfire under the stars. For wildlife enthusiasts, the beautiful surrounding area hosted some great wildlife spotting. We saw a flock of wild turkey cross in front of the house, heard owls hooting at night, ran into a foraging porcupine while taking a walk down the road, and one foggy morning I spotted a mink hopping along the stone fence in front of the house! This beautiful home is truly a treasure, we look forward to returning!

Perfect VT getaway home

  • 5 of 5

The Clark Farm was the perfect destination for a group of seven looking to escape NYC and unwind. The house was stocked with everything you could need from cooking supplies to cleaning supplies, towels, etc. The house was spacious, yet cozy, and had ample bedrooms bathrooms, and living space for seven girls. Everyone loved the house, and we all hope to return again next year!

Clark Farm

  • 3 of 5

We stayed at Clark Farm over President's weekend 2015. There were (2) families traveling-(4) teens and (3) adults. The house was big, clean and interesting to explore although it was further to Stratton Mtn than we expected. With the sometimes snowy roads it was at least a 45 minute trip. Dealing with the key pick-up was a hassle. A couple days before our departure we planned a time to meet with the property manager but when we arrived she wasn't there. Because cell service is so spotty we never received the 5:30 p.m. email notification that the key was left outside. We were suppose to meet at 7:00p.m. After waiting for half an hour at the house with no Verizon cell service, we drove back to Newfane to try our call. There we reached the property mgr & she told us where the key was hidden. This was very frustrating as it was dark, snowy and the end of our 6 hour commute to VT. Most things in the house were in general working order but the range, dishwasher and toaster oven (fire hazard as it didn't always turn off) were very old and tricky to use. CD player did not work. We had to bring our own cables to connect our laptop to the TV because there was no cable service. The teens enjoyed the TV after a long day on the slopes. Before we arrived, Newfane had gotten a couple feet of snow. It was beautiful outside but not so great for an old roof. The upstairs bathroom window had a pretty big leak from an ice dam that had formed on the roof. We called the property manager and she had the roofers there pretty quickly. We managed to enjoy our time at the farm, but when we got back home we received an email indicating (2) towels were missing. I'm still not sure where these towels are but the emails back and forth between the property manager, owner and us were unbelievable. I did not appreciate being accused of stealing 2 bath towels. The owner sent me a Target web link indicating the towels were $11.99 each and to send a check to the property manager. This did not happen. We have rented many vacation homes on VRBO and Homeaway and have never had any problems before this. I would not recommend renting this property because of the surprise you may receive when you get home.

Owner's Response: Sheree, like you, we really enjoy the VRBO community and rent through it both in the US and abroad. We too love to step into a beautiful well furnished home that is clean and well maintained, so we are glad you found our home to be so. Yes our range and dishwasher are old but they are good quality and work great. Our vacation home is a historic farmhouse; we love that we still watch DVDs, play CDs, use the manual typewriter. We prefer the old and sturdy to the shiny and new. I think the real issue is the mystery of the missing towels. When Christiana looked in all the places you suggested, I circled back with you to offer that you could either replace them or pay for them. No owner likes to contact a guest about missing items—especially a $25 item—and perhaps most would not do so, in fear that the guest would leave a bad review. However, if VRBO is going to remain a responsible community of owners and renters then we need to hold each other accountable. So to answer your report that you have never had problems before I would like to reply….. happily neither have we—and we do not foresee having any in the future either. ~Caneel
