About Finn Alban

Finn Alban, is the current owner of this historic farm house bought by her parents in 1966 as a place to retire. She is a 5th generation Texan and an award winning potter who creates pottery and sculpture in her studio behind the house. Finn's portion of the house is completely separate from the B&B.

Finn Alban purchased this house in 1966

Why Finn Alban chose Texas Hill Country

'While growing up in San Antonio, I had often visited the Hill Country as a child. Even then, I knew that some day, some way, I would live there. When my son was 4 years old, that opportunity came and we moved here to this very special small town with its wonderful community.'

What makes this house unique

This antique and art filled property, is a well cared for, family home that has in the past, sheltered many people in a loving way. The sun bleached limestone walls give this house it's rightful sense of place in the Texas Hill Country.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Finn,

We had a lovely time here. This was our first visit to Fredericksburg and will remember it fondly. We really enjoyed sitting in the backyard with the fire going at night. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Zoey loved being able to roam around your fenced yard.

Thank you so much. Have a lovely Holiday! We will be back again!

A great get away!!

  • 5 of 5

We had such an amazing time here!! Close to everything. We walked mostly everywhere, and everything was provided that you would find in a hotel, plus more. Our dogs tagged along with us, and there was a huge yard for them. We all loved it, and would definitely return. There was also games provided which came in hand after getting severely sunburned at the lake!. The house is decorated beautifully and the second room is so charming we loved it! We hope to make a trip down again since we didn't get to see everything. Thank you so much.

Beautiful, cozy place

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the house. Everything was clean and organized, and we had everything we needed. The two bedrooms were very comfortable. We enjoyed having coffee on the front porch in the morning and playing cards on the patio in the evening. It was great to be so close to downtown Fredericksburg. Highly recommend.

Peaceful cottage in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Potters Cottage is a cute clean hideaway within easy distance of Main Street, easy access to wineries and Enchanted Rock, and a nice courtyard or front porch to relax on after a busy day. Buy some wine and watch the fireflies. The rooms and beds are comfortable, the bathroom is very large and well equipped, and you have a small fridge for whatever, a coffee pot for the morning, and a microwave. Finn is a super nice lady and excellent hostess. We had strawberries and chocolate and apples waiting for us, as well as milk and cereal for the morning. Highly recommend this property!

Peaceful, gorgeous just off the beaten path.

  • 5 of 5

This little place was just perfect! Close enough to the "strip", yet far enough to feel like it was out in the country. Cozy and well maintained, perfect for two or a family of 4. Finn was gracious and the place was perfect for my little weekend getaway. It was so charming I was tempted to just stay there for my entire visit and not venture out to the surrounding areas! I would definitely stay at her place again!

Cozy and charming

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was great. Close to main street but isolated too. Everything needed was there for us. Loved the front porch area and the back yard area. There is no kitchen but we knew that and didnt care since we werent there to cook. If you come to shop and sight see, then come back for a nice sleep, this is the place for you. There are games, books, tv and even wifi to entertain you.
