Why Finn Alban chose Texas Hill Country

'While growing up in San Antonio, I had often visited the Hill Country as a child. Even then, I knew that some day, some way, I would live there. When my son was 4 years old, that opportunity came and we moved here to this very special small town with its wonderful community.'

What makes this house unique

This antique and art filled property, is a well cared for, family home that has in the past, sheltered many people in a loving way. The sun bleached limestone walls give this house it's rightful sense of place in the Texas Hill Country.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Finn,

We had a lovely time here. This was our first visit to Fredericksburg and will remember it fondly. We really enjoyed sitting in the backyard with the fire going at night. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfy stay. Zoey loved being able to roam around your fenced yard.

Thank you so much. Have a lovely Holiday! We will be back again!

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Easter weekend at the cottage! We had an excellent stay! Family of four and our dog Charlie! We had all we needed! The yard is beautiful and had ample space for the kids and dog to run around and explore. The cottage was clean, quaint, and decorated beautifully! Thanks Finn!

Very quiet, serene spot with comfortable surroundings.

  • 4 of 5

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Potter's Cottage. It is very spacious for 2 and the kitchen was nicely stocked for our needs during our three day stay. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very large. The shower is an old clawfoot tub. The lounge area has a pleasing couch, chairs, and tv. We really enjoyed the outdoor space, where we were able to dine and have a nighttime fire in the chimnea. It is conveniently located near town and we would certainly stay here again. Thanks!

Rental part of owners home and we misinderstood

  • 1 of 5

Owner upset and we were too when we thought we were renting the whole cottage but got there and only had 2 bedrooms and I bath with no kitchen attached to owners own home. Had to find accommodations at almost 5 pm on a Friday and Vacasa Property Management saved us by placing us in a small home. Expensive lesson though original owner was good enough to refund 1/2 of the charges.

Owner's Response: I was so sorry that this guest did not read the description of my rental before she rented it. I have never had this kind of thing happen before. Everything that she objected to is clearly described on the website and so I was taken aback when she was so upset. The BnB is a part of my house as in.a Duplex and it has separate entrances with stone walls between. It does not have a full kitchen but does have a coffee closet with coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave etc. I find that most people visiting Fredericksburg want to sample our fine restaurants rather than cooking. I hope that future guests will read the website so there are no surprises about the accommodations.

The potters cottage

  • 4 of 5

We were a party of 3 women so having 2 bedrooms(with 3 beds) was very nice.

The bathroom was very large but the sink and mirror vanity was too small for more than one to use at a time.

We arrived at dark and the property was not well lit. But once inside we were delighted with the decor of the spacious rooms.

Overall, we were very happy with our weekend stay just blocks away from downtown Fredericksburg.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I will address the outdoor lighting with more solar lights along the walk to the door. Fredericksburg is in an internationally designated dark sky area so I try to keep the outdoor lighting to a minimize so that we can all enjoy the starry skies! Thanks again! Finn
