We had a blast staying here at Coconut Cove. It was a good location but a little far from the main pier and amenities. We rented a car so it made it a little easier to get around. As far as the hotel, it served every purpose we needed. Staff was friendly and the place was nice. The beds are little too firm for our taste.
My family spent 5 nights at this hotel last week.
We called in the morning, asking if an early check-in was available due to our earlier than expected arrival, and were told that we would know better when we physically arrived. When we arrived, we were told that our room was not ready, but that we would get a call. We ended up getting the keys right at 4pm, which was the stated check-in time. No knock on the hotel for this per se, but an observation that early check in should not be expected.
All of the suites in this hotel appear to basically be the same. Ours was room 203, and was not overlooking the pool (but we could see that), but rather the parking lot. No big deal - we didn't book the room expecting a view. The room itself was very clean. Probably the cleanest condo/hotel room I have stayed at. There were the basics (plates, silverware, pots, pans, utensils) and a Keurig machine. The do an in-room service 4 days into your stay where linens and towels are replaced, but you can request clean towels more frequently if you choose. The one item about the rooms, which I would suspect would apply to most in the area, is that the noise at night could be disruptive to sleep. I'm not sure if it was a product of how the unit was insulated, but it definitely was noisier at night than I had expected.
The pool and pool area was very nice. No struggle to find chairs either in the sun or shade. Again, like the rooms, it was very clean. There was a cooler down by the pool with bottled water that was very nice. You could also get bottled water from the office, free of charge, if you wanted to wander up that way.
The private beach across the way wasn't bad. It was small, and not crowded at all, but our kids were quickly bored with it. There is a break directly across the beach the prevented waves of any size from actually landing on the beach. The water was very calm, in other words. We went to the main beach further up the road one day, which was considerably more crowded, but had more waves and shells (and people). We also spent a day on Caladesi Island, which was quite fun. It takes a bit of effort and money to get there, but the shell hunting was great. Our kids really enjoyed that day. As far as restaurants go, we didn't eat at the Italian restaurant next to the hotel, and regretted it. My wife got dessert to go from there one evening, and it was very good. We did eat at Cesars, which was fantastic
From the moment of our arrival my friend and I were greeted with a knowledgeable and friendly staff at Coconut Cove in Clearwater, Florida. The room we got was spacious, actually more like an apartment with full kitchen, living room, full bath and 2 separate bedrooms - one with a king-sized bed and one with 2 doubles. The beds were comfortable along with the other furniture and accommodations. It was clean and well-maintained. A hot shower was moments away after starting the water each morning. Each bedroom had a flat screen TV and the living room did also. The pool was decent sized and featured a small grotto-like waterfall. After 3 a.m. the front desk staff informed us that there were fresh-made cookies. They also provided us with free tax ride passes and 10% off at the local IHOP. Coconut Cove may not have been on the ocean or had a beach view but it was only a few minutes walk to either. From our room we could see the water from the bay, however. As far as places nearby, Shepherds restaurant and club was across the street, a great little bar called Pan Filo was a mere 3 doors down. There was Salty's for seafood and other eats. There was a pizza place and Italian cuisine restaurant about 2 minutes away. Getting to the beach activities was less than a 10 minute walk. We felt the prices were right and would definitely consider Coconut Cove again if and when we visit.
Couldn't have been happier with the room and just a short stroll to the beach. Staff was incredible. Will stay there again. Loved every minute of it. Thank you so much!
We wanted to find a place with a separate sleeping and living area because we were traveling with an infant. This place was perfect for a family. First it was on a more quiet part of the island, just a 5-10 minute walk to Clearwater public beach. It had the best of both worlds, I could wash bottles or cook food in the full kitchen (which felt like home), but I didn't have to do laundry :)
The staff was amazing. Always super friendly and helpful.
The pool is it's own little paradise. They even threw a little guest BBQ by the pool one day while we were there. It was above and beyond what we expected.
I can not say anything bad about this place, it was great!!!
#1- the staff is awesome, I couldn't ask for a better group. They were friendly, helpful, and prompt. The kids loved the cookies at 4p everyday. They emptied our trash and gave us clean towels every day.
#2-The location was great when it comes to food. There was 2 Pizza places to the right of us, a IHOP across the street, and multiple nice restaurants to the left. There was also a subway/grocery store within a 1 minute walking distance. There is also a trolley stop that you can hop on if you need to, but we never did.
#3- It was a 3-5 minute walk across the street to the beach, we got to use the affiliated hotel's beach access and all it's amenities including their beach side bar, pool, and beach with chairs. I am going to recommend the Dirty Banana.
#4- BIG bathroom, BIG Bedroom with 2 king beds, FULL kitchen with all the necessaries you need to cook, bar area with 2 chairs, pull out couch and TV in living room area. We had 4 staying and 3 visited while we were there and we weren't cramped. Also the best part was the pool area, it was really nice. It does look like the pictures!!!
For those with kids, ours are 10. There are tons of activities, traffic was not to bad, 20 -30 min average to Tampa depending on where you are going. Lots of things within a 10 minute walk. The City Pass for ClearWater/Tampa is definately worth the money. Pick Coconut Cove, you won't regret it!!!!
