About Joan Rowley

Joan started out as a Registered Nurse, and Craig as an Electrical Engineer. Somewhere around 1975 they made a leap of faith and went into businesses of their own. Joan owned Reprographics Unlimited in Glastonbury, CT. Craig provided design services and managed a small crew engaged in restoration of period homes. We're both retired now.

Joan Rowley purchased this townhome in 1985

Why Joan Rowley chose Connecticut Shore

We've kept a small boat in Stonington since about 1958. Many memorable days enjoying the beaches and nights of fishing. Our grandchildren now enjoy these same pleasures here.

What makes this townhome unique

It's all about the location and view. Our home is situated on a dead end street with water views to Watch Hill, Sandy Point, and Fishers Island. An afternoon stroll through our historic village brings you to several excellent restaurants and dockside dining. Visit the Stonington Historical Society Lighthouse Museum and see our restored cannons dating from the War of 1812 at Cannon Square. Launch your kayak near the fish dock and tour the harbor. See our fishing fleet while your there. Enjoy the boat traffic and sunsets from Stonington Point.

fabulous stay!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Next Door over Labor Day weekend with friends and it was great! The house is immaculate, the bed and linens comfortable. We took advantage of the backyard, sitting in the setting sun having cocktails. The kitchen has pretty much everything you would need. Joan and Craig were delightful hosts, very helpful with suggestions for dinner out and beaches. We would wholeheartedly recommend this property.

Wonderful Stay - Walkable to All Stonington's Charms

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a wonderful stay at "Next Door" in Stonington, CT. The owners were a pleasure to work with and made the rental process very easy. Upon arrival, we were all so pleased with the obvious care that had been put into the property. We felt very welcome indeed!

The rental is extremely comfortable, "boaty" in many respects (which is a plus and we love that!) and has a great layout with 2 bedrooms and en suite baths upstairs, wireless internet throughout and DirecTv in the living room.......terrific! And "if only" I could keep my house as neat and clean....

Stonington's main street is about a 5 - 7 minute easy walk...check in with Joan and Craig for their recommendations on restaurants. Good advice for sure! The house kitchen is compact but kitted out perfectly so breakfast, lunch and even dinner are an easy task if you want to "eat in".

We had a wonderful but all too short stay......we look forward to returning to Next Door and Stonington soon!!

Terrific Stay, Great Service

  • 5 of 5

My wife, two daughters and I stayed at the property for a recent early Spring weekend.

The place was perfectly maintained with a charming feel. There was a lot of space to spread out in during the rainy part of our stay and just chill out without being on top of each other.

The Borough was great to explore - the owners provided excellent recommendations so we quickly felt like locals, hitting great spots for meals and shopping. It seems they have great reputations in town as cool characters, as many of the locals knew of them, spoke highly of them and usually capped it off with a good chuckle.

My older daughter and I enjoyed the late evening moon and the sounds of the ocean from the kitchen window, very late into the night.

We certainly recommend a stay.

Lovely home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our two adult children, stayed here for a weekend while attending memorial services for my brother-in-law. We had rented a VRBO home in Utah in Nov 2012, had a good experience and decided to rent rather than book a hotel room. We were not disappointed! The house was lovely, immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and was a short walk to all the shops and attractions in Stonington. Joan and Craig were amazing hosts. We felt so welcome there. There were fresh daffodils from their garden on the dining room table when we arrived and we felt welcome to call them or knock on their door if we had a question or concern. A more gracious couple you could not find. We will definitely plan to stay here when we visit Stonington again. Thank you, Joan and Craig, for making our stay so comfortable.
