Overview

Tidewater & Hampton Roads Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 BR, 1 BA, Sleeps 5, private and close to Jamestown and Williamsburg

Our waterfront beach cottage sits on a bluff overlooking the James River and Jamestown Island, with steps down to your private beach. You will have the privacy of a cottage and will be directly across the river from Jamestown and Williamsburg. The view of the river is wide open (about a mile to the left is the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry Dock and to the right is Cobham Bay)

Watch spectacular sunrises over the river from the deck or the air conditioned/heated front porch. After enjoying a day of history in Jamestown, Williamsburg, or Yorktown, or some of the other attractions Virginia has to offer, come back to relax on the 'rivah' in the privacy of your cottage. Sometimes just sitting quietly watching the movement of the water, a tug boat going by, or eagles and ospreys fishing is just what is needed after a busy day. The moon coming up over the river is as beautiful as the sunrise.

Our cottage is in a neighborhood where there are no other rental cottages, only cottages used by their owners. There are no houses behind the cottages. Once you leave the paved road, you are 0.4 mile down a lane from the start of a perfect vacation.

Cottage is limited to 5 people (including children and overnight guests).

The free car ferry is part of the Virginia Department of Transportation and runs every 30 minutes during the day until 9 p.m. when it runs every hour during the night.

Two kayaks, a row boat, a canoe, and adult and children's life preservers are provided. Also provided are beach chairs, beach umbrella, cooler, beach towels, floats, children's beach toys, and fishing poles with gear.

The cottage is centrally heated and air conditioned.

Our cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with countertop oven/convection oven, stove top, refrigerator, icemaker, microwave, coffee maker (with filters, coffee and sugar), toaster, and blender. Dinnerware, silverware, glassware, cookware, cooking utensils, paper plates and cups, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, baggies, coffee, cooking oils, basic spices, condiments, sugar, hand soap, dish detergent, dish towels and cloths, paper towels and trash bags are provided. In the backyard there is a gas grill ready for your barbeque.

All of the bedrooms are equipped with bed linens, extra blankets and linens, a clock, and a flashlight. One bedroom has a TV and DVD player.

The living area has satellite TV (DirecTV) and a DVD player.

The Bathroom has a tub with a hand-held shower. Hair dryer, towels, toiletries (soap, body wash, shampoo, hand soap), paper products, and first aid kit.

Brochures for tourists attractions are provided.

This is a wonderful place for children but the cottage is not child-proof. Cottage sits on a bluff with steps to the beach.

River shoes (water shoes, crocs, flip flops, etc.) are suggested. There are shells on the beach and in the water.

One pet is considered. The cottage is limited to one (1) pet. There is a $100 pet fee. Even though some of us like to take our pet on vacation, the next family that rents our cottage should not see any sign that a pet has been there. Please email or call us about your pet.

The cottage does not have WiFi. All of the Historic Williamsburg area has free WiFi. It will give you the zone-coverage area, how to connect to the free WiFi, and a map of parking lots within the Historic Area.

The weekly rate applies to 6 or 7 nights.

Rents Sat. to Sat. July through August.

Check-in: 3 p.m. Check-out:10 a.m.

.

Credit cards, echecks and checks accepted.

Half is due when booked; 2nd half due 30 days before check-in.

CANCELLATION POLICY: 100% 60 days prior to check-in; 50% 30 to 59 days prior to check-in; no refund less than 30 days prior to check-in.

Why A.C. Traylor chose Tidewater & Hampton Roads

Our cottage is in a perfect location for privacy, has a beautiful view, a private beach and the James River to play in, but close to the ferry that will take you across the river to visit the sites you came to see. It is like having the best of both worlds. You will understand why the people who have a cottage here love it.

What makes this cottage unique

Private, beautiful view, can have fun on the 'rivah' as well as visiting Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown, Busch Gardens, playing golf or shopping at the outlets.

Relax, recharge, and definitely revisit!

  • 5 of 5

A perfect blend of privacy, but with the comfort of the owners being a few cottages away! Beautiful view at all times of the day. Extremely neat and clean and layout of the cottage is easy to keep it that way. Better than any "shore" experience we have ever had.

PERFECTION!!!

  • 5 of 5

You could not ask for more attentive hosts or a more perfect place to stay. A.C.'s and Linda's attention to detail are second to none; the personal touches that were waiting for us were amazing.

The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials for cooking: pots, pans, dishes, (regular and disposable), utinsils, paper products, etc. The bedrooms had mesh baskets filled with folded towels and washcloths, flashlights, Kleenex, lotion, etc. The bathroom is bright & cheery - stocked with bar soap, shampoo, body wash, disposable razors, etc. Every detail was attended to.

The enclosed porch overlooking the James River is the perfect place for breakfast by sunrise or dinner by sunset. Relax on the deck, take a stroll on the beach, enjoy a canoe trip, or simply collect seashells. Whatever you choose to do, you will not be disappointed.

Our experience was made more enjoyable because our dog, Arnie, was welcomed to enjoy it with us.

The focus of our trip was Williamsburg, but the highlight turned out to be the cottage. We could have easily stayed at the cottage for our entire trip and still had the perfect vacation. We definitely will return.

Thank you to our gracious hosts.

Fondly,

Kirk, Beverly, and Arnie, too!

The house was really nice with a gorgeous view! Everything we needed was there.

  • 4 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time staying in the river home. We were able to relax and then take a short ferry ride to see everything we wanted to in Willamsburg and Jamestown.

We had the best time again! We're here last year while we visited Williamsburg! The really nice little things Linda & A.C. provided were really appreciated! They are the best hosts! The cottage is immaculate and stocked with lots of things that you normally do not see in a rental! The beds are very comfortable and the porch overlooking the river is great! Saw some amazing sunrises from that porch! Our collie, Daisy loves it here! Collected shells and loved the free ferry across the River to Williamsburg! We will return the next time we visit Williamsburg area!

wonderful vacation thanks to gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is wonderful and the area is lovely. The Williamsburg area has a lot to offer for recreation and relaxation. But the most significant aspect of this vacation was the great lengths to which the hosts went to outfitting the lovely cottage. We were so grateful for all the extra touches. We can not wait to return - we would LOVE to stay in the same wonderful cottage again. Sunrise on the beautifully appointed enclosed porch reminded us of the wonder and beauty of Gods creation. Relaxing in the living room in the evenings in the terrific family room was a welcome end to our busy days. The decor within and throughout the cottage was comfortable and very appealing. Beach access for strolls and shell collecting was also a favorite. Thanks to the gracious hosts we were able to include our Dog in this vacation. She (Daisy) had a wonderful time too! If this is retirement - BRING IT ON!!

Sincerely,

Debbie, Mike and Daisy.

Quiet, off the beaten path location, clean cottage, comfy beds.

  • 5 of 5

My coworker and I stayed here for nearly a month while working nearby. AC and Linda are great hosts go out of their way to make sure everything goes smoothly during your stay. The cottage is at a great, off the beaten path location with great sunrise river views. It was a very clean, comfortable home away from home for us. The beds are very comfy, too! Highly recommended.
