About Richard Miles
Susan and Richard moved to this area in 1997 after falling in love with the scenery and serenity of Downeast Maine. They are both artists and gardeners.
Richard Miles purchased this Apartment in 1997
Why Richard Miles chose Harrington
Downeast Maine is still unspoiled, both wild and peaceful and without the crowds of the lower Maine coast. This property feels like a natural, intimate and independent world of its own.
What makes this Apartment unique

Magnificient! Couldn't be better! Beautiful apartment, well appointed and warm, helpful owners.
We could have stayed forever. Really, it was difficult to leave, but we'll definitely be back.
Peaceful, beautiful spot!
This place was incredible! I wish we could have stayed all summer!
Tranquil and beautiful
My husband and I rented this apartment with our four month old son and our dog. We had a wonderful stay. Richard and Susan were lovely hosts, and they have a gorgeous property with beautiful gardens. The apartment is full of sunlight and the ocean breeze. It was very clean and comfortable and was the perfect spot for our first family vacation.
Spacious, clean apt.
My family of 4 had plenty of room to relax and unwind after days of exploring Acadia and the other local parks. The apartment was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. There wasn't a tv hooked up, but this was a plus in my book...got the kids to unwind with books and their toys. It took us an 1 to 1 1/2 to get to parts of Acadia, but it was a nice scenic drive. On our last day we explored the beautiful (and less crowded) trails and beaches located closely to the apartment. Overall a great stay :)
We were looking for a place on one of the many inlets of Maine but off the beaten path and away from the Bar Harbors and Kennebunkports. We believed we found it in this Barn/apartment. Indeed most of what is said and shown is true but we are giving a 3 rating for the impression the owner, who is very nice, makes on his site. The view of the bay and view from the cabin deck are not views from the apartment. It is hidden from those views. So do not plan on sitting on the deck to have a cup of coffee or evening drink and enjoy the bay. We also walked to the bay from the apartment to check the water and hiking paths. Perhaps wrong timing as the bay is very tidal and there were no paths. We still enjoyed it all. We drove to Bold Coast to hike, which was beyond beautiful, and enjoyed our time there.
The barn apartment was a wonderful place to stay. It was bright and spacious and had everything we needed. Dick was a great host and very helpful with things we needed or suggestions on what to see. It is a bit of a drive to Acadia National Park, but very scenic. If you want to go kayaking just make sure that you are around during a high tide. Otherwise there is not enough water in the bay. There is a grocery store in the next town over and a couple restaurants, but otherwise a very rural area so plan ahead. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to see the Maine coast and looking for a quiet getaway.
