About Gerald P. Rothman, Owner, Colleen Riggott, Property Manager, Rothman Real Estate
My name is Gerald P. Rothman from Manchester, CT, owner of Sugartop unit 2415. I purchased this condominium at Sugartop on October 19, 1983. I was excited to purchase this condominium at Sugartop since it was called 'an architectural achievement' because it is built entirely of concrete and steel, thus fire proof. The building impressively sits atop Sugar Mountain 5,200 feet above sea level. Over the past 30 years, my family and I have thoroughly enjoyed each visit to Sugartop regardless of the season. No matter what time of year that you visit Sugartop it is an exciting experience. From watching the sunset from your unit, viewing the majestic, surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains, visiting the nearby quaint towns, driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking or skiing ... you can't help but have a fantastic time throughout your entire stay! I am positive of this from personal experience throughout these 30 years and from reviews by our guests. Now, my grandchildren are always as excited as their parents were years ago to visit this resort. All this said, 'come visit and stay with us I am sure you will enjoy your vacation'.

Staying at Sugar Top
The condo was very nice but the phone was not connected - there was no plug in cord and it would ring once every 18 to 20 minutes around the clock It was very annoying .
We are so sorry to hear that! If you ever have any issues during your stay, please make sure to either speak with the front desk staff at SugarTop (they're super helpful!) or call our management office directly. We would have been more than happy to find a solution during your stay. We want your time at Sugar Top to be the best possible experience!
A nice place
We enjoyed our stay in the condo. When you arrive to the front gate make sure you know the condo number to speed up getting in. Our kids really enjoyed the indoor pool and the views were amazing. There are plenty of blankets and dishes for cooking small meals too. Maybe bring some extra towels for the pool area. Overall we loved it and would definitely stay again!
That's awesome to hear! Thank you for the positive feedback. We are so happy to hear you & your kids had an amazing vacation!
The condo was very clean. Loved the view of Sugar Mountain slopes!
Loved the condo! Had everything we needed for our weekend stay. There were plenty of blankets and 2 extra pillows for the pull-out. Only problem we encountered was that there were no sheets or pillowcases for the pull-out. You might want to pack some queen sheets just in case. Great pool! Kitchen appeared to be well stocked although we did not cook at all during our stay. Had lunch at Evolutions and dinner at Stonewalls. Both excellent!
The views truly are spectacular at Sugar Top! We are happy to hear you had a great stay.
Extra blankets, sheets & pillow cases are located in the closet of the guest bedroom. If you are ever having trouble finding something, please call our office so we can point you in the right direction. We want every stay to be as carefree as possible!
Wonderful place to stay
This was a wonderful place to stay. It was very clean and had a fairly open floor layout in the way the furniture was laid out. We had friends staying up on the seventh floor and they liked the way this place was laid out better. We cooked all of our meals and found all kitchen wares that we could have needed including a slow cooker (nice coming off the slopes to a hot meal) and a pizza stone! Both beds slept comfortably. We have every intention of booking this same room again next year. Great place!!
We love hearing such positive feedback! We are thrilled to see you had such an amazing stay!
Two moms and 4 kids (ages 7-9) enjoyed a weekend ski trip. Sugar Top was convenient to the ski resort - just a short drive down the mountain. The condo unit (#2415) was plenty roomy for the 6 of us. We put the boys in the queen bed, the girls in the king, and the moms got stuck with the foldout sofa. I don't know how the queen bed was, but the king was hilariously squeaky. The slightest movement made a ton of noise! The foldout was seriously uncomfortable but that is to be expected. Unfortunately we were unable to locate pillowcases for the extra pillows to use on the foldout, and the front desk couldn't help, so we used handtowels. It was fun having a view of the ski slopes and watching the night skiiers as well as the snow grooming equipment first thing in the morning. Sunrise view was gorgeous! We weren't able to open the slider door to actually go out on the balcony. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool on the main level and we all enjoyed the hot tub. Be careful on the pool deck. It is VERY slippery. Each of the kids fell down at least once!
Another thing you may want to know about Sugar Top is that you can't ski out. I thougt you could (based on a prior stay here back in 1992) but the front desk said no. We weren't planning to do that, but someone else might. Also, you cannot bring skis into the building. Again, not a problem for us but there was another guest quite upset by this as well as the ski-out issue. Parking is not right at the building and you have to take a shuttle to a lower lot. The shuttle runs 24/7 and on demand so it wasn't a problem. Just something you might want to know. Overall we had a good stay!
Thanks for your feedback! We are so happy to hear you a had a good stay. The owners just finished up their stay at Sugar Top recently and replaced all mattresses. They did not notice the beds being squeaky so that is definitely something we are taking note of. Extra pillow cases are always located with the sheets in the guest bedroom closet. Feel free to call our office and we will always point you in the right direction if there is something you aren't finding. The sliding door does have a lock so you do need to make sure that's fully unlocked before trying to slide the door. If you ever have any difficulty with the functionality of our unit, please call our office during your stay so we can address all concerns right away. We want your stay to be as relaxing and carefree as possible!
We always recommend walking at the pool. Especially when it gets busy, water can end up being splashed around. Sugar Top did install brand new pools so they are up to date with all the latest codes.
Sugar Top does offer shuttles directly to the slopes or you are able to hike the walking trails from Sugar Top to the ski slopes. We do not advertise our units as being ski-outs but there are many other owners at Sugar Top so we aren't sure what other clients are seeing. If you have any questions on what Sugar Top provides or allows in regards to skiing, please call our office at any time and we would be more than happy to give you more information on what is offered!
We have updated our parking description to include information on the shuttle system that Sugar Top provides from the parking lot to the condo itself. Sugar Top works hard to make this as easily accessible as they can!
As always, we want everyone to have the best possible stay in our units! If there is anything you have questions on before you book or during your stay, please call our office so we can help. Happy skiing!
