Great house with everything you need for a fun, relaxing weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house has everything! Tons of beds and bedrooms, a gorgeous view of the lake, fire pit, a large hot tub, well stocked kitchen, and only an hour from Chicago. We loved the house and our fall visit was great. Would love to come back in summer to enjoy the lake, and we were even imagining a winter time trip. Sitting in the hot tub overlooking a snow covered lake would be beautiful! The beds are comfy and everyone slept great. We cooked all our meals at the house and the kitchen has everything you could need, including a dishwasher and even a crock pot! Plenty of comfortable seating upstairs and downstairs, with blankets for the couch provided. We didn't get a chance to play pool or darts, but loved the hot tub and fire pit.

Communication was great and I appreciated the clear directions!

Thanks!

Very disappointed, needs a good cleaning and updating of pots and pans, shower liner, etc.

  • 1 of 5

Where do I start, well if I am looking for a positive I will say being on the lake was nice and the hot tub was great, also plenty of beds.

When we arrived we were putting things away and found an open bag of oyster crackers in the cabinet, used mayonaise, butter, jelly, etc. in the fridge and other used items in other cabinets. These are items that should not be left in a rental. The faucet in the kitchen sink was broke and you didn't get a steady stream of water you only got the spray so you would get wet when washing dishes or using sink. There is plastic cable/phone plate hanging off next to the kitchen island and can be dangerous if you have little kids. When I went to look for a broom to sweep the kitchen I opened the front hall closet and was shocked at the dirt and debis just sitting in the closet it really was discusting.

I agree with the review that said the windows were dirty, the ones on the side of the house in the kitchen were filthy and no reason those can be cleaned, that doesn't take much effort.

We used the bedroom in the basement with the bunk beds separated, I dropped my glasses and when I pulled the bed from the wall there were what looked to be mouse droppings and other dirt on the side of the bed. Very unappealing. The bathroom in the basement is not what it looks like in the pictures. The shower is tile from floor to ceiling and has a lot of mold in the grout, the floor is very slippery and the plastic shower liner has mold half way up the liner. That is such a cheap fix, those liners cost about $4 and should be replaced after each rental. The heating system was way off, we needed to have windows open upstairs because it was so hot, but needed heat on so the people in downstairs didn't freeze. Space heaters did not do the trick.

This could be a great rental but we felt either the owners haven't been there to check on cleaning crew or they just don't care. We are not picky people AT ALL and honestly have never left a bad review and we've been renting together for about 25 years but all agreed this review needed to be posted. My hope is that the owners take some time and money to update the little things that matter to renters and not just post an excuse as a response.

Property has a lot to offer and with those updates and fixes could be great.

Owner's Response: Hi Maureen, I feel awful reading your review. I don't know why we are just hearing about this more than a month after you stayed. If you would have called, emailed, or texted, we would have been there immediately to fix any of your concerns. If you read other reviews every time someone mentions us as landlords, they say how responsive we are. As you mentioned a lot of things were minor and we would have been there in a second to fix any of your needs. We check the property weekly ourselves because we live close by and my husband maintains the hot tub and checks to make sure the cleaners have been there as well. We will be immediately addressing all of your concerns. A few things to mention because I know a lot of people read these reviews and it helps them decide if this is the place to spend their vacation. There are 2 sets of brand new pots and pans just purchased in the last 2 months. We do however keep the old pots and pans because some people bring several families and they appreciate having the extras there. This stay was in February and we do not wash our windows in the off season. We power wash the entire house during our fall clean up and then not again until spring clean up and then throughout the summer. It is very important that future guests know that we never received any complaints until this review a month after their stay. On all of our communication prior to their stay, it says if you need anything please don't hesitate to call, text, or email. If we were informed of any problems, we would have taken care of it immediately.

Nice Winter Escape

  • 4 of 5

House was as advertised. Kids especially enjoyed experience of hot outdoor jacuzzi in freezing weather. Kitchen well equipped. Board games and direct TV and Netflix were nice. Basement was a bit drafty but space heaters helped. Excellent communication with owners. Watching ice fishermen and walking on frozen lake and around 3.5 mile lake route were unique experiences.

Very comfortable home!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying in Your Home. The hot tub was a huge deciding factor among other homes in the area. We were a group of 7 Nurses on a short weekend getaway and the hot tub at your house was our deciding factor! We all have plenty of aches and pains! The inside of the house was very clean. It had plenty of items to get us going. We actually did a paint night one night and had a blast! We brought all our own supplies and plenty of “drapes” to covers the table and had a wonderful night! Lake Geneva was about 25 min away and convenient enough to do some shopping during the day. The only thing I could really complain about is that the outside of the house wasn’t kept up. The windows were filthy and the driveway/front door are was covered with leaves (we did go during the Fall though). Downstairs was pretty outdated and we didn’t really use it except one of the bedrooms and to get to the hot tub. That bedroom downstairs was very cold but there were space heaters available. The rest of the house was clean and cozy. Should mention that the fireplace is a “fake one” that does blow heat but is just for show and doesn’t used gas or wood. Plenary of dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. the owners were pretty quick to respond to questions as well. We will probably be back. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We appreciate all the feedback. Glad you enjoyed your time! As far as the outside... during off season, the outside of the property has a fall clean up and then nothing until a spring clean up. The property is maintained weekly during in season months. We would love to have you back anytime!
