Doug, being a plumber & in the construction business by trade and Lois's love of decorating & design acheived their goal. Introducing the option of vacation home, makes a longer stay more affordable for your family & friends. With so much to see & do in Lancaster County, you can take advantage of the convenience of 'cooking in'. Stop in as a guest, leave as a friend!

Lois & Doug Snader purchased this house in 1996

Why Lois & Doug Snader chose Pennsylvania Dutch Country

In past years, this Victorian Mansion was first built by a brides'father to be given to her as a wedding gift! Her and her husband lived their entire lives here.Early in the 1970's a couple bought the property and operated (for 25 yrs)as an art gallery. Then the Snader's bought the property to bring it up to modern standards and to share it with others,to enjoy the architecture & charm of times gone by.

What makes this house unique

As we entered the grand front hallway we fell in love with the magnificent sprial staircase that wraps to the third floor. we knew immediately, this was the property for us!

Fantastic!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was fantastic from top to bottom. The tastefully renovated Victorian house was a surprise for my sister's birthday, and she completely loved it. Everything we needed was available from soap and paper towels, to extra towels. I personally loved the gas fireplaces in each room to ease the chill first thing in the morning, and our king bed in the Twilight room was to die for - so comfortable! Lois was also available to promptly answer my numerous emails in advance about the house, to questions after we arrived. The house is on a busy street, but that also means it is within 10 minutes of many shops and restaurants. We still took advantage of sitting in the chairs on the porch, because the tall hedges do help you feel a separation from hustle and bustle of the street. All in all, our group had a wonderful weekend and we are already talking about renting it again.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

Mrs. Lois was a great host. She and her husband, thought they live on the property, were not intrusive unless we called her. Actually one evening during our stay we invited her over and enjoyed a very cordial conversation. She is very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful in planning your activities. The house, though a century old, had all the modern amenities needed. Each of the four suites has its on climate control unit, and bath/shower. This was very important considering that our group of four couples varied extremely in our comfort ranges. I highly recommend this home for your next vacation to that area. I will say that you should be aware that all suites are on the second and third floor accessed only by a spiral stair case. We got our exercise each morning and evening as we were up and down quite often.

Thanks Mrs Lois from the Jefferson South Carolina Group

Beautiful and cozy house!

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful house, abundant space, isolated comfortable rooms, clean sheets and towels and friendly host.

Hard to sleep at night due to road noise in all bedrooms.

Gorgeous property

  • 5 of 5

We had plenty of room for our kids and our grandkids. My husband and I had a little trouble with the stairs but we took one of the two second floor bedrooms. One of our daughters said they had a little trouble with the water in one of the third floor bathrooms but with four and a half bathrooms it was not a problem. A great stay. The Owner was great.

Charming Victorian! Our 4th stay. Never disappoints!

  • 5 of 5

This is the fourth time we've taken a group of friends to Lancaster and stayed at this home. Lois and Doug are the most wonderful hosts, always having everything ready and so accommodating. As the years have gone by these 5 couples have moved away from our original homes and live in different parts of the east coast, but we always love to gather together in Lancaster here. It feels like home.

The home is so convenient to entertainment, shopping, and any site seeing one would want to do. The bedrooms are spacious and either connected to a bathroom or within steps. We highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a get away. It never disappoints.
