Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Ed,

We truly enjoyed your home. Thank you so much for sharing it. The ski conditions were the best we have ever seen in December. Everyone loved all the snow. The kids enjoyed exploring your property and played outside for hours. The fire pit was great, we made a nice fire and enjoyed all that northern Michigan had to offer. We will definitely be coming back for our next stay.

60th Birthday with Friends and Family!!

  • 5 of 5

We had 18 people and everything was great. Loved having the 2 kitchens which made food prep very easy with that many people. Loved having the bond fire every night and making great memories with our friends and family. It's a great place to stay with a large group. Saw deer every day and evening out front while we sat at the bond fire.

Very comfortable, cute cabin decor and fully stocked with everything you would need.

  • 5 of 5

We had a family reunion at the cabin. There were 17 teens and adults. It was perfect for cooking and storage with the 2 kitchens and also the 2 family rooms worked really great for us! It was nice being able to go between the rooms to socialize and do different activities with everyone. In the summer, I think it would be best to keep your number of adult guests down to 16 because the lofts are best with 2 people in each. The room gets hot if you don't leave the door open but you are unable to if you use the trundle part of the bed. Bunk beds might be better in that corner. Also, the futon can't be pulled out without blocking one of the bedroom doors. You could easily put an air mattress down in one of the family rooms if you needed the space, though. The 4 full baths were awesome! The towels were well stocked and there was even soap and shampoo. Even though we had some rainy weather, we had a great time in the house watching movies and playing games. We also went to Platte River for kayaking and tubing, afterwards we went to the sand Dunes. It was a wonderful long weekend!

Great cabin...exactly as described.

  • 4 of 5

The Thompsonville property was a great cabin. It easily housed our mini family reunion (14 people) in the summertime, when we had both units combined. The layout was perfect and it was a nice benefit to have two kitchen/dining/living areas...that way, we could shuffle the kids into one area and have quiet conversations in the other. It was nice and secluded, so we didn't have to worry about being right on top of the neighbors. Very few downsides. The primary one is that it is a bit of a drive to get to the summertime attractions. It was about 25-30 minutes to get to the Lake Michigan swimming beach, about 45 minutes to Traverse City, about 45 minutes to Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc. Nothing really wrong with that, just be aware if you want to minimize your time in the car. All things considered, it was a great vacation spot, and I would look at it again if I'm back in the area.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

Property was clean and had all the supplies we needed for our family of 15. We did not feel crowded. Had plenty of room outside for games, BBQ, and a campfire. It was located within easy driving distance to beach, dunes, distillery, and other activities. We loved it and hope to return!

Great place! Easy to find! Owners were great to work with. Would highly recommend and will stay again. Very short commute to crystal mountain. It was quite a haul to Traverse City but everywhere else wasn't too bad. Less than 30 minutes to Frankfort which was a very cool beach town. Sleeping bear dunes was also about 30 minutes.
