We are US expats from Minnesota currently living in Geneva Switzerland. My wife's job brought us overseas 3 years ago and we have decided to stay an additional 2 years so our children can both graduate from the school they are attending. We purchased this property to utilise as a winter home when we move back to the states. With that in mind we have furnished the house with quality furniture and furnishing that will still be in good condition when we are able to utilize it.
Tim Nelson purchased this house in 2012
We looked all over Florida for a place that had easy access to the Gulf. We found less expensive properties but chose this place as it is very peaceful and the sunsets are incredible. Did we mention we can get to the Gulf of Mexico in less then 15 minutes via boat?
First impression, when entering the house, is 'Wow'. All the finishes are of high quality and the decor is very elegant and comfortable. Did we mention sunsets? Sunsets are beautiful from all the main rooms in the house. The retreat area in the master is an unbelievable place to watch the sunsets. While in the kitchen you still are involved with people in all areas of the house as well as outside on the lanai and pool area due to the pass through bar.
Thank you so much for sharing your "slice of Paradise" with us for 10 days! We have stayed at many other houses and condos in the past 8 years and this by far was the nicest house that we have "borrowed"! The pictures on the website were wonderful but really doesn't do it justice until you see it in person! The view was spectacular, the house was gorgeous and the furniture was so much nicer than any I have ever seen! The House was so clean and so well maintained. My Husband and I so enjoyed the Master Retreat, what a beautiful view from the Master Bedroom and Bath! The layout was perfect as we had different guests during our stay, we loved the split plan that gave everyone privacy. All were stunned at how beautiful this house was! The house was so clean and so well appointed with everything that we needed. We also enjoyed using the dock so that we could leave our boat the entire week! The pool and deck were wonderful and we loved the table and chairs under the protected area that gave us shade. I would recommend this house to anyone that would like a home that is well above others in the area! Can't wait to see you next year with the family as well as a "Girls Trip" in the Spring! Thanks so much!
Firstly, The owner of the home was SO friendly, very helpful during the booking process and with answering any of our questions. The home itself was AMAZING, lots of extras, very nicely decorated, very thoughtful layout, pool fence, dock, pool chairs etc, comfortable furniture, large closets with hangers, shampoo/conditioner, etc. We were extremely comfortable and very happy with our stay!! The view from the rooms was amazing, and we loved the automatic blinds. Not super accommodating to families- ie no pack and play, no child proofing, pool toys, etc, but that was ok because we were prepared for that- they did have a pool fence though!
A few minor bumps- The neighborhood now requires that each home have a mailbox on the street but the house did not have this - we had shipped some things to the house before we left just so we wouldn't have to pack it, but that would be there when we got there- ie sunscreen, baby toys etc, we had it scheduled to get there the day we did so it should have been seamless but since they didn't have a street mailbox the mailman refused to deliver. I tried to contact the manager and the owner, the manager wasn't aware of these changes and was pretty good to communicate but wasn't able to help us with this issue. Long story short- our packages arrived on the last day of vacation after I spent hours on the phone with the post office trying to get them to deliver our things before we left. A few others- some of the burners on the stove did not work and we found many roaches, but I think that must be a florida thing because the house was very well taken care of. Lastly, our vacation was for a week and we had 4 adults and two children- the house only had 2 rolls of toilet paper and one roll of paper towels, so that would be my last complaint that I wish it would've had more in that area so we didn't feel like we had to buy it.
Other than those small things, the house and the owner were amazing. We would definitely stay here again!
Tim's house was just what we were looking for. A nice place on the water where I could put in my kayak in every morning. The boys fished from the dock every day and we enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and watching the birds and manatees go by. The location for us was great! Close to the beaches and not far from Tampa and Busch Gardens. We had a spectacular time, just not enough of it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful property with us. Becky
We literally said wow when we arrived. The house is the nicest one we have rented in the last 7 years that we have been vacationing in the Sarasota area. Beautiful home with nice furniture and decorations. Anyone with toddlers would need to keep an eye on them. The house looks like a model home. The view from the master bedroom window is terrific. We were a little intimidated by the home being so nice but soon settled right in. Good communication with the owner and property manager. We had a rough start with arriving during tropical storm Colin. The wind blew the fan blades right off of the lanai fan and the pool filled with debris. Once everything was cleaned up we were able to enjoy our vacation as it was meant to be. Definitely a keeper on our list of homes to revisit when we get back to Florida.
We traveled with friends to the Sarasota area. My family rented this wonderful home and our friends stayed in Siesta. The home provided a perfect setting for us, since we were looking for a quiet retreat away from the tourists. From the beautiful bay views while having our morning coffee to the perfectly heated pool with disco lights, my kids (10, 15 and 17) thoroughly enjoyed. We had many visits from birds and dolphins each day. We frequented Anna Maria Island, which was our absolute favorite. Tim and Dana provided everything we could possibly need. Their Chateau was beautifully appointed and well equipped. You need to bring nothing other than groceries. It is a short ride to Anna Maria (15-20 mins the back way), Siesta (25-30 mins down 41). Publix is down the street and yes there is a Dunkin Donuts on the way to Siesta for you New Englanders. A visit to downtown Sarasota (Historic District off of Fruitville near Main and Lemon) is a must and St Armand's Circle too. You won't be disappointed.
This house is just as advertised. The neighborhood is quiet and in the perfect location for us to get to both Pittsburgh Pirate or Baltimore Oriole Spring Baseball games. It is also very close to great shopping at the Ellenton Outlet Mall and the new University Town Center Mall in Sarasota.
To us it was the perfect place to spend a vacation. We enjoyed the outdoor area and spent many hours watching the various wildlife; we were amazed at the ducks who would come up for a dip in the pool and the large osprey who would just come up by the outdoor table as if to say "hello".
The sunsets were amazing. The house itself had everything we could possibly need. The decor was lovely with the finishes and furniture all top of the line.
We would definitely choose this house again.
