Thank you for a wonderful weekend! Upon arriving to the house we were not sure if this was the house because it was so big and beautiful. Once inside we were even more amazed at the beauty of it all. The floors and decor are gorgeous and so many great amenities. We imagined ourselves living here!
We have come to love Pacific Grove and can not wait to return again in the near future.

Otter's Rest was a perfect place to celebrate my 60th birthday! The home is very nicely appointed and there is plenty of room for three couples, each with their own bath. The kitchen was a pleasure to be in and meal preparation was all part of the memorable experience. Julia, the manager, was more than acommodating. When she learned it was my birthday, she had the place decorated with balloons out front and inside, along with other birthday bling. It was such a nice surprise to drive up to the property and see it all decorated! Julia continued to impress us with her responsiveness for anything we needed. It turns out that her birthday was the same as mine, so that was a fun coincidence. I would highly recommend this home for its location, comfort level and beautiful furnishings.
This is a beautiful home, fully equipped, comfortable, and clean! There were 5 of us, girlfriends since childhood, on our annual retreat. We pick a different destination each year, and Pacific Grove was a wonderful choice! The area is gorgeous, and Otter's Rest is just a couple blocks from the ocean. The downtown area is a very short drive, but we also walked along the beautiful coastline, getting there in about 20-30 minutes. The view from the main Master is gorgeous, but, really, all of the bedrooms are very nice ... and we didn't spend much time in our bedrooms anyhow. We were too busy enjoying the open, spacious downstairs area, the hot tub, and our long walks. The large kitchen is wonderful! If you like to cook, the stove top range is awesome. I worked a little bit, from the upstairs desk, which was actually a treat, and the wifi is good. There is more seating outside than is shown in the pictures, which we were happy about. Julia, the manager, let us check in a couple hours early, which was awesome, and we enjoyed the snacks and wine left for us! There are only a few things that KIND OF made it not perfect ... 1. The fridge makes a fairly loud noise, much of the time. 2. The lighting in the living room is amazing during the day - lots of natural light. BUT it's really dim at night. We played games one night in there, and it was kind of hard to see. A couple extra lamps would be nice. 3. The burglar alarm, which is supposed to be disarmed for guests, went off the first morning, and we were all in our PJs when the fire fighters arrived (I guess that's a good or bad thing, depending how you look at it). That didn't bother us so much, but we couldn't get a hold of anyone at Sanctuary, even though I'm pretty sure it was during regular business hours. Thankfully, the owner was notified by the alarm company, and he came right over, and fixed the problem for us. He was very polite and nice. Yet, that wasn't the only time we couldn't get a hold of someone at Sanctuary. The day before we arrived, I had tried for several hours to get a live person on the phone. Overall, though, the experience with them was great, and they were always VERY nice and accommodating when I was able to reach someone. So, those things aside (which I just mentioned as constructive criticism), we would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat, no question! **Restaurant referral ... we LOVED Red House Cafe so much that we actually had lunch there two days in a row**
I'd recently experienced a lovely girls' weekend in Pacific Grove and asked my girlfriend who'd arranged where she had found the lovely, clean, well-stocked home. She recommended Sanctuary so I booked a long weekend with my husband through the same company, albeit a smaller home (as we were just a couple and not 9 women!). We were not disappointed as this home was as lovely as the first one I'd experienced with my girlfriends. This home, too, was clean, well-stocked and nicely decorated. The stand-out for us was the locale: Just minutes from the beach trail and a short drive (or long walk) to downtown Pacific Grove. I loved looking thru the binoculars out to the sea every morning and afternoon.
Otters Rest was the perfect accommodation for us (3 couples). The proximity to downtown Monterey, 17 mile drive and Carmel is central and easy access.
The house was lovely and the kitchen is perfect for cooking together and enjoying the house. Will definitely stay here again.
The company and point of contact for the residence was very professional and gracious. They made our stay even better.
This is a great house for three couples or a family with kids as there are three bedrooms and three baths. My husband and I shared the house with just one other couple and it felt very roomy. The kitchen is large enough for all to share in the meal preparations, which we always enjoy doing. I acted as chef and had three su chefs.
The location is ideal...close to the ocean, but in a quiet neighborhood with little car traffic. We enjoyed walks to the ocean to watch the high surf.
Highly recommend this house.
The manager, Julia, attended to all concerns amazingly speedy, making sure we were happy with everything.
We have stayed here twice and loved every aspect of it. We are a family of 6 adults (2 couples and 2 single guys), and this year, we included a super-well-behaved dog. There were couch quilts laid out to protect the furniture from the dog.
The kitchen is VERY well stocked, though I would have appreciated perhaps a jar of mayo in the fridge.
Once we got the tv working, we tried to record Warriors basketball games...but there didn't seem to be a way to do it, so it would have been nice to have that service connected.
Location is everything. Pacific Grove is one of our favorite places on the planet. This house is at the end, maybe 1/4-1/2 mile beyond Lover's Point. The street is QUIET and the neighbors are wonderful. I needed an onion on 12/25 for scalloped potatoes, but all stores were closed. My son took some homemade cookies and went knocking on doors...and returned w an onion and a smile.
We spent a day at the aquarium, a day at Pt. Lobos, evenings playing silly games and watching movies...and doing LOTS of cooking, including deep frying a turkey on the patio.
We will return, for sure. Master bedroom and huge bathroom and balcony are dynamite.
The Monterey Peninsula is unique in its combination of breathtaking natural resources and a multiplicity of cultural and entertainment possibilities. You can find something for every possible taste. For nature lovers, there is the diversity of mountain and sea, for picnicking, surfing, fishing, horseback riding, hiking, beach combing, bird-watching, kayaking, scuba diving, tide pooling, biking and more. If you want a man-made excitement, we have art galleries galore, excellent fine-art museums, local theater, outstanding restaurants, boutiques, a natural history and a children's museum, a world-class aquarium, and that's just for starters. History buffs will have a field day exploring the adobes of Monterey. There's so much to do that you cannot possibly do it all in one visit, which means you will have to come back.
