About Ken Bailey

The owners, Ken and Vicki Bailey, live in Spartanburg, SC which is about 40 minutes away. We have four children and five grandchildren, so spare time or quiet time is just a dream. Art, YMCA work, hunting, fishing, and family take up all of our time.

Ken Bailey purchased this house in 2005

Why Ken Bailey chose Asheville Area

We visited this area quite often because two very good friends from college live in nearby Columbus. It is such a different environment here from south Georgia that we realized this would be a great place to 'get away'. Small town life with big city conveniences. Our youngest son said it best 'The air is always better up here'

What makes this house unique

The view from the living room and the back deck is just breathtaking. There is no doubt, once you see that view, that we have a great and wonderful God. I always feel closer to God when I am sitting in the rockers on the back deck surrounded by the beauty He has created.

This was a perfect space for my family to come together for Christmas in the mountains of western NC. The views from the living room, porches, and master bedroom can't be beat as you can see for miles with very little evidence of any towns/towers/light pollution, etc. The house itself is organized well with plenty of space to find a quiet place to read solo or have a big family game night, both without feeling cramped or too spread out. The house was all decked out for Christmas when we got there giving it a nice, familiar feeling. All the necessities were accounted for and Ken was extremely available via email to answer any questions/address any concerns we may have had. Downtown Saluda is very charming and full of history, the house seemed secluded enough thanks to the neighborhood and the shrubs, and we were very conveniently located to Hendersonville to grab a last minute Christmas gift as needed. This house was just what me and my 10 other family members ranging in age from 1 to 67 needed this Christmas.

Owner's Response: So glad that you had a Christmas to remember while you were at the house. The surroundings really are what make the house so special. Saluda is a great little town, happy that you got the chance to see everything it had to offer.

What a beautiful and charming home! I just love that the owners decided to decorate it bright and cheery (not dark and log cabin-esque like a lot of other rentals in the area). When you open the front door you are blown away by the view the whole glass back of the house. Having sheets, towels, and even toilet paper and trash bags was super convenient and very much appreciated. We cannot wait to go back!

Amazing views, lovely home!!

  • 5 of 5

All of the members of our book club absolutely loved our stay! The house was clean and well appointed; beds were comfortable; kitchen was well stocked with crockery and cookware. The feel of the house was inviting and cheerful! The views from the back deck are phenomenal!! The upstairs master bath has a lovely tub, but no shower, which was not expected, but it did not cause any real inconvenience. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful place! My only complaint is that my stay wasn't long enough but that is surely on me.

Renting from VRBO is such a great experience. This property didn't disappoint. The kitchen was extremely nice. The house was roomy and it never felt like we were on top of each other. The view from the deck was beautiful. Although, next time I am coming in the fall. Highly recommend this place.
