The owners, Ken and Vicki Bailey, live in Spartanburg, SC which is about 40 minutes away. We have four children and five grandchildren, so spare time or quiet time is just a dream. Art, YMCA work, hunting, fishing, and family take up all of our time.
Ken Bailey purchased this house in 2005
We visited this area quite often because two very good friends from college live in nearby Columbus. It is such a different environment here from south Georgia that we realized this would be a great place to 'get away'. Small town life with big city conveniences. Our youngest son said it best 'The air is always better up here'
The view from the living room and the back deck is just breathtaking. There is no doubt, once you see that view, that we have a great and wonderful God. I always feel closer to God when I am sitting in the rockers on the back deck surrounded by the beauty He has created.
This was an amazing house with a perfect view. I live in the area but the rest of my family is out of state and I do not have a place large enough for my whole family to visit. This gave us the opportunity to spend some time together. The beds were so comfortable, the kitchen was a wonderful place to cook for everyone and the view incredible. We were able to take full advantage of the area visiting DuPont, Asheville, Hendersonville, floating on the green river and even a Zipline over the GOrge! Hope to stay there again!!
The house was attractive, comfortable and well equipped. It was also clean and well maintained. The owner provided us with useful information on the house and the area and we were able to reach him easily when we arrived to find that the key code had been updated on the entry pad.We did find that the wifi reception was slow, but suspected that it was probably a router problem not the equipment in the house. As a senior, I do have a suggestion for the installation of a hand bar next to the shower on the lower level as a safety feature when getting in and out of the shower. I would certainly recommend the property to friends and relatives who might be visiting the area.
We enjoyed the area. We especially liked the Purple Onion Restaurant and the Green River BBQ in Saluda. We also enjoyed the colorful Saluda Art Festival and the closeness to Flat Rock and Hendersonville. We highly recommend the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock and the nearby Wrinkled Egg Cafe and store.
We stayed here with the Clemson Intercollegiate Eventing Team while participating in a horse trial at FENCE last weekend. We absolutely loved the house and couldn't be happier with our stay!! We will definitely be coming back.
The house was perfect for parents, adult children and grand children. The views are amazing and the house was just as described. Refrigerator was not working when we arrived but it was replaced the next day. These things happen and the owners were very prompt to take care of the situation. Close to Asheville, Tryon, Pearson Falls, etc. We hope to be back in the near future.
The house has a beautiful panoramatic view of the mountains from the large windows and deck. The furnishings are bright, cheerful, and comfortable. The kitchen is awesome.
The house is well located. Close to restaurants, shopping, and places to visit.
One of the best places we have ever stayed!
My wife and I, along with our five children ages 7 to 15 and my mother-in-law, stayed here while visiting the area for a week. The house fit us perfectly as everyone had a bed, and it was nice having an upstairs "adult" den and downstairs "kids" den. Everything was as we expected and worked well. The view was awesome and extended 180 degrees (barely fit my panoramic photo shot). The kids enjoyed climbing down the mountain near the scout camp lake and back up every day, and there was room to throw a football around a little at the house. We really enjoyed that is was "homey" complemented by the antique furniture and original artwork everywhere. It was convenient to the highway and stores. We are already considering a return trip!
The Gorge (Zip-Line), Biltmore House in Asheville, Minor League Baseball in Greenville and Asheville, Flat Rock Playhouse for Live Theater, Green River Trout Fishing, Tubing, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Sliding Rock, Carl Sandburg's home and several hiking trails and waterfalls to see. The adorable towns of Saluda, Landrum, Tryon, Hendersonville, Ashville, Greenville and Spartenburg, close by for shopping.
