About Renee Baker

I am an empty nester who enjoys the Brevard area with my husband who teaches at the local college. My favorites are waterfall exploring, hiking, horseback riding, camping, art, and interior design.

Renee Baker purchased this barn in 2012

Why Renee Baker chose North Carolina

We love the pastoral setting, but really fell in love with the unique barn-wood interior of this home. Interior design is one of my passions, so furnishing the home was super fun. They don't build them like this anymore. Living on the farm, we love the area and are happy to share it with our guests.

What makes this barn unique

A unique farm setting with friendly animals, fresh farm eggs, and all the amenities you may need! There are many resources for hiking, climbing, fishing, as well as shopping and dining in this area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Fodderstock Farm is a true gem! There is so much warmth and hospitality coming to this beautiful place. Our family had a marvelous time relaxing throughout the week, playing in the back pasture, and seeing the local sites. The location affords all the nature wonderlust you could ask for in Appalachia. We hope to return for another great stay!

Great trip to Fodderstack Farm!

This place was great. The home was very nice and well outfitted for guests. The owner was very accommodating on any needs and proactive in communication. The property is great and my kids enjoyed seeing and playing with the animals, especially getting fresh eggs from the chickens every day!

We were in the area for a family wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fodderstack Farm. The barnhouse was so charming, and Renee was extremely responsive and accommodating. The whole process of booking through departure was stress-free. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful home, can't wait to return.

  • 5 of 5

We just returned to New Orleans from our stay at Fodderstack Farms and it was so hard to leave! This place was just perfect for our family. We travelled with our three small children and my parents. Renee and Drew were amazing and the house is so quaint, clean, comfortable and filled with charm. My kids gathered eggs every morning and they loved feeding the animals. The view there will take your breathe away. I wish we could turn around today and come back.

Pastoral paradise 35 minutes from downtown Asheville

  • 5 of 5

My family and I just enjoyed a week at picturesque Fodderstack Farm. As others have aptly described, the barn looks like a Ralph Lauren ad. The accommodations were comfortable and were equipped with everything you need. All the animals on the farm make this place very special. The vistas from the outside are beautiful. It did help that we were lucky with the weather, but regardless we would certainly highly recommend this property.

Fodderstack farm was so pretty and relaxing my family didn't want to leave. We loved the house- it's an incredible converted barn- it was super comfortable, clean, and decorated beautifully. The location is great- near all of the hiking to waterfalls in Pisgah National Forest abd Dupont State Forest. Renee and Drew were wonderful- my kids loved helping to brush the horses, feed the sheep, and gather delicious eggs in the mornings. We brought our black lab and he also had a ball hiking and swimming with us. We can't wait to go back!
