About Cheryl Day
Cheryl has lived in Springfield for several years and is a nurse at Mercy Hospital here in town. Originally from Iowa, Cheryl moved to Missouri in 1983 and lived in the Ozark countryside until 2006 when she moved to the 'city' to be closer to her grandkids.
Cheryl Day purchased this House in 2007
Why Cheryl Day chose Walnut Street
Cheryl purchased this property after renting it for a year and falling in love with it. Since she bought the home she has spent years on fixing it up to it's current loving condition. She also added a loft apartment that is very modern in the upstairs space, with a separate entrance.
What makes this House unique
This home was built in 1939 by a well known area builder named Carl Bissman who constructed many of the larger homes on Historic Walnut Street one block south. This year the original hardwood floors were refinished to bring back the shine and feel. The arched front door is a feature not seen on many homes, and also features an archway between the dining and living room. The whole house was recently updated with a new electrical system, high efficient HVAC and water heater, all new lighting, new appliances, and fresh warm paint colors throughout.

Clean, cute, great value , attention to detail evident
Beautifully decorated, hardwood floors nicely framed artwork and dark wood furniture , very comfy beds with nice sheets, easy to get in with code, perfect location for Evangel university graduation, stocked with extras like shampoo, great value for the six of us to stay, and I would stay here again if I came to town for sure. Also George's restaurant with great $3 breakfasts is right next door. Highly recommend to others. Things that would have been helpful - a full length mirror and muffin pan for making breakfast.
Overall fantastic experience and very cozy!
Those are both great suggestions! We'll add the full length mirror and muffin pan with inserts. I'm so glad you had a great stay and are welcome back any time!!
Quiet and comfortable
My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The house is a cozy and quiet place to relax and there are tons of things to do in the area.
The property had everything we needed and was very comfortable.
Very nice, comfortable and convenient
Cute house. Very clean and location was perfect for the downtown area.
Super cute! Will stay again.
Great location, easy access to property and local attractions/restaurants, and quiet considering it was so close to a main road. Perfect weekend getaway.
Lovely, comfortable and convenient. Have stayed before and will stay again.
Love this house. Our first choice for a place to stay in Springfield. Clean and so comfortable.
Very cute, cozy space!
We loved the Cairo Cottage and would definitely stay here again. It is well-appointed, comfortable and spacious. It is also in a great location. We even walked back to the cottage after an evening out downtown--it was less than 2 miles, which wasn't bad, really. If the weather is nice, I'd recommend walking over to Pickwick to check out the little cafes/wine bar. Thanks for a great stay!
Springfield, MO is a great place to live, or visit. There is so much going on here including events, festivals, theatre, parks, trails, shopping, and a quick drive to many rivers, lakes, and of course we're a 45 min drive to Branson MO with their many shows and attractions. Check out Bass Pro Shops, The Simon Mall, or many of the shops downtown or on Historic C-Street for shopping. The Ozark Greenway Trails give you many miles of bicycling, running, or walking opportunities and connect to many parks. Check out the Japanese Stroll Garden located near the Springfield Botanical Center. During Baseball Season head over to Hammons Field to watch a Springfield Cardinals minor league game. Next to that is Jordan Valley Park, and the Mediacom Ice Skate Center where you could watch a hockey game, or go skating yourself. Like to eat out? There a literally HUNDREDS of restaurants around Springfield from any food category that you could think of, and many of the best ones are downtown less than 2 miles away.
