Overview

About the property

1 House (60 sq.m., sleeps 3-4) & 1 Studio (45 sq.m., sleeps 2-3)

We would like to welcome you to our beautiful island of Santorini, to experience the hospitality and the friendliness of the local people and our old traditions which are only known in our island.

Our family owns two old houses in the old, traditional area of Fira, which is the capital of Santorini. We have recently renovated them and we did our best to ensure that they would keep their character and unique style: high ceiling roofs and white washed walls, made of thick stone, to keep the rooms cool during the summer and warm during the winter. As the old inhabitants didn't have access to wood as a building material, they used to 'carve' their houses and their furniture into stone hills or caves.

It's a perfect place for couples, families, elder people, and everyone who will appreciate one of the most beautiful and quiet areas of the island, while being just a breath away from the main square and the magnificent caldera view.

Calderimi studio is 45 sq.m. and can accommodate 2-3 people.

It has 1 bedroom with 1 queen size bed, 1 dining-living room with a large sofa which can be used as an extra bed, 1 fully equipped kitchen and 1 bathroom.

Calderimi house is 60 sq.m. and can accommodate 2,3 or 4 people.

It consists of 2 bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other one with one single bed. The second room can host one more person. The kitchen, big and comfortable with a dining area, is fully equipped and has all modern facilities. The bathroom is made according to the local traditional style and painted in a yellow ochre.

Each of them has also a private terrace with table and chairs, decorated with flowers and plants.

Why Vivi and Andreas chose Cyclades

This property was passed down through three generations and was fully renovated, but keeping faith with the essential elements of the original structure.

What makes this house unique

Aegean's blue and white colors, are being reflected on our island's sunlight, which calms both the mind and the soul.

This is what you are going to experience when you come and stay at our traditional houses, which were renovated with extra care, as we didn't want it to loose it's traditional elements.

Also you have the chance to sit in it's sunny yard and enjoy your coffee, your wine or your ouzo, which we will offer to you, in order to make you feel welcome!

Absolutely lovely.

From the minute we had our reservation, Vivi was a wonderful host. Informative and gracious, she left us baked goods and arranged for our transport to and from the airport. The apartment is well located: quiet street but just a few blocks from the main roads so you get the best of both. My husband and I were traveling with our daughter: two bedrooms that were perfect with the charm you would expect from Santorini. Would recommend and definitely stay there again.

Cute, quiet place to stay but close to the action.

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying here. It was conveniently close to restaurants, the bus station, and downtown area, but far enough away for peace and quiet when we wanted it. We were cool and comfortable in the house. Vivi provided maps and information that helped us plan our days in Santorini. Fira is centrally located, and it is easy to get to the other towns on the island from here.

Perfect house, perfect host! Quiet, clean, comfy.

  • 5 of 5

I spent 3 months living in this perfect Greek house and it was better than advertised. The location was ideal, 3 minutes from the main square but tucked away in a quiet residential area. The apartment was spotless, filled with light, and had all the amenities to make a longer stay possible. Vivi was the best host, dropping food off and providing information related to upcoming events and places to visit. She responded quickly to emails and text messages and made my stay so relaxing. i have recommended this apartment to friends and family and hope to return within the year. Thank you Vivi for a lovely home and vacation!

Ideal place to stay in Santorini

  • 5 of 5

This cozy little house with a shady courtyard offered everything we needed, and was remarkably quiet and affordable, just a few minutes away from the hectic Fira downtown. Santorini is a very special place you should see once in your life. The house is naturally cool as being partly troglodyte, the bathroom is magnificent, the kitchen has everything you need, you can take your meals in the courtyard, a large supermarket and the bus station are minutes away. Thanks to our host Vivi who picked us up at the airport, welcomed us with jam and pastries, and who turned out to be fluent in our native French! Just perfect.

Fira is a town built around the island's famous caldera, 200m. above the sea, which offers a panoramic view of the whole island, the volcano and the surrounding islands.

Fira is situated in the center of the island, from where you easily have access to all the other villages.

Here, you'll find all local facilities:

Central bus station and taxi station 200m. from Calderimi.

The cable car, which leads to the old port and from there you can access the volcano, by ferries.

Restaurants, cafes and nightclubs. Museums, banks, pharmacies.

A lot of shops.

For people who like hiking, from Fira there is a narrow path which goes to Ia (Oia), through the villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli (9km.).

FESTIVALS AND CELEBRATIONS:

In late August, a reenactment of the volcanic eruption is organized with fireworks, followed by traditional dancing performances and music.

In August Megaro Gyzi holds a lot of cultural activities.

In September the international classic music festival takes place at Nomikos Conference Centre.
