What a great condo!

  • 5 of 5

An easy one mile bike ride to the "action of downtown", gated complex with tennis and pool, and on the lake! The inside of the condo was spacious, comfortable, and had everything my family of four needed. The place looks better than the photos and we loved staying there! If it were a hotel suite, they could have charged 1K per night. Needless to say, it was an awesome stay and we hope to come back soon. We loved it!

Beautiful spacious modern rustic home!

  • 4 of 5

This condo has a wonderful mountain feel! Tastefully decorated with modern rustic decor. It looks better than the pictures. There was lots of space to move around in. We loved the large balconies and glass doors which allowed natural light to come in! Dual sinks in the master bathroom was a joy for us. We only stayed one night so we didn't use the kitchen much, but all the basics we needed were there. We didn't have time to go in the hot tub or pool but it is literally just beside the condo.

So as far as the condo itself....Beautiful.

We had an issue with the master bedroom shower in the early morning hours. The water slowly became a drizzle and then just some drops. So we had to take showers in the other bathroom. Not a big deal, but inconvenient. After booking confirmation a check in, and check out, and house rules guideline was emailed came to me. It was the most extensive and detailed self check in and check out list I've received in the years since renting peoples places via websites. Upon arriving we felt like we were on a scavenger hunt .....step by step with codes, keys, and dials. Ok that's new to me , but no big deal, kinda fun when it's completed.

However upon check out morning we felt stressed with the looming possibility of being charged extra fees. This is because the email stated if by 10am we didn't do certain things on the check out list we would be charged. The ones which bothered us the most was the towel and trash placement. If the maid has to take out the trash we will be charged....?? Confusing...I thought that was part of a maid's duties.

I have common sense so whenever I rent from someone I always take out the trash and organize the dirty towels and try to make the space look like I wasn't even there. But being told to do so and the loom of being charged if I didn't was new for me.

I suppose Mr. Alan has had guests in the past who lacked common sense and therefore the list had to be created to aid them along.

We did enjoy our stay here. We hung out late in Big Bear before checking in and basically only slept and then had to check out before doing any activities. I suppose a longer stay would have felt less anxious and even more enjoyable.

Great condo, amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

The condo was fantastic for us! I can understand some of the reviews that questioned the bunkbeds, we have 3 yo twins and it was perfect for them, but the beds are shorter than a regular single so you wouldn't want to try and fit a teenager or adult in them.

We loved the fact that the pool was literally a 30 second walk away. The complex is well maintained and quiet. The location was great, not a busy area but close to everything.

The only things that were slightly disappointing were; the coffee pot, it's the "4cup" one that is really 2 cups, it worked fine, but if you drink coffee like we do you need to make several pots and there was a lack of linens for the kitchen, I couldn't find any tea towels or dish cloths. These were minor things and probably not everybody that comes plans on cooking most meals in the condo. We would definitely stay again!

okay, but bring your own toiletries and paper goods

  • 3 of 5

This place I would say is a good place to stay if you are going out the entire night and then eating meals out. My family was surprised that there were no paper goods in the kitchen or toiletries in the bathroom. Additionally, there were some dirty towels on the floor when we arrived, so that was a little bothersome to me. But the place is spacious and has access to a great pool and is very close to the lake.

Great location. Could use some updates.

  • 3 of 5

My husband and I love Big Bear. We go for 2 weeks every year and have stayed numerous places. Pros: good size. Can easily fit two couples. Good location. Can walk or ride bikes into town. It had two porches allowing for morning and afternoon sun. Bed was really comfy. Cons: sitting area not that comfortable. Table held a lot of people but not comfortable to linger around being that it is picnic style. Kitchen needs a good scrubbing of all pots, pans and utensils. Shower and bathroom could use updates but are fully functional. Grill is buried in the garage and not useful for cooking outdoors as kitchen is on 2nd floor. There is no outside table and only 2 deck chairs.
