If you are looking for a country getaway, this is it. Amazing beautiful place. Theresa is awesome. It is about 30 minutes from town, so make sure you are ok with that. It is WELL worth every penny though!!!
Thank you for being great guests and for your great review. It is quite welcoming, and once you are there, it gives you such a feeling of warmth. The drive is only about 17 miles in all from town, and takes only about 20 minutes once you get a little familiar with the drive. It is a nice change from being too close to the city, so private and peaceful. Come back soon!
Charming house set in beautiful woody mountains
We had a wonderful stay with our family. The hot tub on the wrap around porch and fire place in the living room added an extra warmth to our cozy board game nights. We cooked (the kitchen had more supplies than I even anticipated), watched movies and had quality family time which is why we came. The drive from town to the house is curvy and a bit of a distance so make sure you don’t forget anything at the market! The house was in good proximity to all the activities we did (hiking and caving). Theresa was very responsive and helpful throughout the rental process and stay. We were sad to leave this beautiful property.
Its all about quality time to enjoy. I love to hear great things from great guests. I am glad that you were able to enjoy a wonderful stay with your family. The hot tub, fireplaces, it being fully equipped, as it is, and everything about the home gives you a cozy warm feeling. Driving up the mountain away from town is a beautiful scenic drive and well worth it once you get there. But, you many think about a 20 minute or so drive is distant from town, but it really isn't, and actually even closer than average for those who live in the area. You couldn't call it getting away, if it wasn't at least that distant away to enjoy the peace and quiet that this affords. There is not a store next door, but that is the point. Hiking and caving is very interesting in this location, but there are many other activities to explore. I always try to make my guests' trip, from start to finish, as easy as possible, so that guests can enjoy their trip without stress and worries. Alter all, that is what it is all about. Don't be sad about leaving, you can come back all year long. Looking forward to hearing from you again soon!
Fantastic place to get away from it all!
This property is in a beautiful, peaceful, secluded area surrounded by nature! The house is wonderful, comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing weekend with friends. Theresa is very accommodating. She permitted us to bring our new rescue dog and he had the time of his life! There are trails and back roads to hike all around Vista View. We all had a great time!
Fantastic! It is so satisfying for me when I get a great Review and know that my Guests have enjoyed Vista View to the max! All of my guests love Vista View, and they say that they will do a Review, but sometimes, when they get back to the grind, it is hard to find a minute to do one, and we understand. I am appreciative of you taking a moment of your time to do a Review. Thank you! I'm so happy that you all have had a great time and was able to relax in the home's comfortable, peaceful, and private setting it offers. There is so much to offer there and in the surrounding area. With all of the land for your rescue dog to run and play, I bet he must have thought he went to nature's life paradise. Well, you may have felt that way too. Thank you for being great guests, and hope you can return on another occasion.
Great Cabin In West Virgina
This cabin was great! Happy with the view and stay. I few suggestions provide more log wood for fire place. Explain more in detail how to activate the Heater. The shower downstairs does not work properly. Overall if you like being away in a rural area to enjoy time with family this cabin is amazing.
I am pleased to know that you have enjoyed this amazing home, the fantastic views, and were able to spend quality time with your family. Regarding the suggestion for providing more fire logs, we provide enough fire logs for each day of the length of the guests's stay. The logs do give off some heat, but it is generally more for ambiance. If you desire to have more, more can be accessible. In regards to the "heater", the home has Central Heat and A/C and is controlled by a digital thermostat. In the winter, as when you were there, the thermostat is set on the Heat setting. Guests do not need to do anything, except press the arrow up for more heat, and arrow down for less heat. I'm not sure if you thought that you needed to change any other settings, as to why you stated you needed more detail on how to "activate the Heater". I made an appointment with a Heating Company to go and check on it to make sure it was OK. Everything was OK. I guess you're being from Florida, you are not used to using the heat much. On the next comment that the shower downstairs does not work properly, is probably because you did not know how to operate turning the shower on. The shower is turned on by pulling down the ring around the Moen tub faucet. All of these questions you had, are explained in the Agreement Form. It is important to read them thoroughly, and it does say, "Please read thoroughly". Also, we were periodically in contact with each other while you were there. If you would have mentioned any of these questions, I could have easily answered your questions, or sent the caretaker there immediately. A note to all future guests, is to please be sure to read your paperwork for instructions, or a quick call or text to me, is not a problem. I am very responsive and available at all times This can save you from simple matters. I have gotten some guests in the past, that do not pay attention to reading the instructions on the paperwork and have come up with similar situations. We understand that guests do get excited for their trip and tend to overlook this. Thank you for being great guests. Hope to see you again soon!
We spent two wonderful days! Wonderful place!
I recommend everyone who is tired of the city!
I am happy to know that you were able to enjoy and unwind from the city. Even if it was only 2 nights, it is a good break. This home, and where it is located, in all its true privacy and comfort, really does the trick! It gives you a refreshing start back into the city. Hopefully, you will be able to return on another occasion for a longer period of time, it does wonders! Thank you for being great guests! And remember, next time you book here, you will receive a Discount for being repeat guests. See you soon!
Friars Hill Road vs Tail Of The Dragon
I would like to start off by saying that this truly was an adventure. We had a group of 12 people stay at Vista View. We were in Lewisburg, WV for our National Christian Motorcycle Association Rally. The Rally was at the fairgrounds which is about 45 minutes away from the lodge. We were given directions to the lodge by the owner, whom I don't think has really traveled those roads in a long time, since we were told that not even the people that live in that area use those roads. We road our "Touring Bikes" via the directions that we were given, and I have to say that after having rode on The Tail of The Dragon in North Carolina the day before, which is 11 miles of about 318 curves and was totally awesome, I could not believe the fear that I had while driving down Friars Hill Road. Friars Hill road off of Rte. 219 IS NOT the way to get to the lodge. I do suggest that if you decide to rent this lodge, that you will definitely use another route to get there. The contact person that met us at the lodge gave us a better route, which also had a bit of treacherous areas, but never compared to Friars Hill Road. Also I would suggest that if you are going on Motorcycles, that you are aware that the driveway is graveled. There is a bit of a steep area once you actually get to the lodge. The entrance itself is somewhat difficult as we had a few bikes go down in that area, but after a few days I think we got the hand of it, but still proceeded with much caution. I would suggest to the owner that maybe paving that area would be a good idea, not necessarily all the way to the lodge, but that first dip would be great, especially for bikers. As for the house itself, I must say that the lodge was absolutely beautiful and the view was amazing and so peaceful. It met our needs as far as being able to fellowship all together as a group. Unfortunately we weren't able to attend all of our meetings at the Rally because the majority of them were in the evening and due to the lack of road lights (none) and the conditions of the road, we thought it best to get back to the lodge before it was dark out. So all in all the lodge is amazing, but just a note to all DO NOT use that road off of Rte 219, because no one uses it. It's dangerous!!!! Thank you
“Thank you” for saying that the home was amazing, absolutely beautiful, peaceful & with amazing views. It is just that, & does have plenty of room & meets the needs for large groups to come together & bond.
I see that you live in Florida. I so do part of my time, & I do go back & forth to WV very often. I am very surprised of some of your FALSE remarks here. I have over 38 “EXCELLENT” Reviews on this home. I guess since you were upset that you fell off your cycle somewhere on one of the roads is causing you to vent, but trying to put the blame & take it out on my property & the surrounding area, is not correct or justified. Some people are not as experienced as others in driving cycles on mountain roads. My Contact Person stated that It made her feel very uncomfortable & intimidating with the argument & actions presented between yourselves upon your arrival. I am sorry that this caused you to be upset, & to write this incorrect information, but I don’t know why you were so afraid. You cannot expect mountain roads to be like flat Florida roads, which are all lit up. Maybe you are not used to touring in true mountain & country roads. There are three sets of roads to get to the home, & if you were fearful, it is the first time that one of my guests had issues with touring their cycles there. I have been renting this home, & my other rental home, in the same location, for about 8 years with multiple cycle touring guests who have enjoyed the trip there, with most of them repeating their stay. I have had guests that actually stayed for 4 months at a time, & from Florida, for about 4 yrs. in a row. As a matter of fact, while you were in this one house, another cycle group that came for the same event, staying in my other rental, down the same driveway, thanked me for a wonderful stay because they enjoyed everything about it, & they did not miss any event. There were no complaints about the roads or driveway. In order to get away from it all, you cannot expect a super highway going up to the last leg of the mountain to the home to have street lights. This home is tucked away in the woods & the roads to these homes, are both considered on very good state maintained roads for mountain roads in WV. They are not dangerous or treacherous. You saying that people that live there don’t use those roads is truly ridiculous! it does not take 45 minutes to Lewisburg. Once again, you said that the stay in this home & on my property was great, & that is all that matters.
