This fascinating boutique apartment, dating back to the 16th century, is your starting point for a romantic stay in Lucca.
It is located in the heart of the historic city center, in a peaceful area just a few steps away from the main points of interest, including via Fillungo, renowned for its shopping.
The apartment offers the most modern amenities incorporated into a historic and artistic setting with an unmatched view of the Palazzo Guinigi and its spectacular medieval tower
The apartment is located in the heart of Lucca’s historic city center ,in a quiet area, and has a view of the Giunigi tower which dates back to the Medieval period and is one of the most well-known towers in town.
Having been completely remodeled in 2012, the romantic apartment is equipped with the most modern conveniences. The décor is modern with the occasional antique here and there which perfectly blends in and enhances the overall design.
Restoration was done in such a way as to preserve the elegance and charm of the original architecture. The original high oak-beamed ceiling in the living room lends space and grandeur to the apartment. The bedroom is completely frescoed with 18th century paintings and there are beautiful views of the Guinigi tower from all of the large windows which also guarantee a bright interior. The central location means all the main shopping streets (via Fillungo, via Santa Croce, via Nuova) are just a few steps away, as are the numerous restaurants and coffee shops.
These features make the apartment ideal for couples wanting to live an experience steeped in history and tradition in old and modern-day Lucca.
Entry to the apartment is on the 2nd floor. As this is a historic building, an elevator could not be installed. Therefore, a stay here would not be ideal for anyone with reduced mobility.
Stefano and Paola, after leaving their managerial careers with large multinational companies, decided to turn their hobby into a profession. They first opened a small, charming hotel in Umbria, close to Todi (la Palazzetta del Vescovo then, Making the most of their experience, they decorated the apartment with the same care and attention to detail one normally dedicates to one’s own home and with the same level of comfort one would find in a luxury hotel.
Paola and Stefano Zocchi purchased this apartment in 2012
Almost by chance, Paola and Stefano felt in love with Lucca and the boutique apartment in Palazzo Orsucci.
Perfect location to visit the city . A stunning views from the living room windows of the Torre Guinigi the most important monument of the city. Located in the full center easy for shopping but at the same quiet and elegant. All the contemporary facilities in an historical and Aristocratic building of 16th Century.
From the minute we were shown through the door of this beautiful apartment we were totally smitten. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, the kitchen has everything you may possibly need, and the bathroom was warm with a lovely powerful shower. But all of these comforts pale into insignificance when you enter the bedroom with its comfortable bed and gorgeous ceiling fresco. This may well be one of the most beautiful holiday apartments you will stay in. Situated within 5 minutes walk from the main shopping streets it's hard to fault in any aspect.
Being in a very old building, the stairs could be a challenge for some, but we thought they were beautiful. We were welcomed by Larisa, who was friendly and informative and gave us some top tips for local food. Thanks Paola and Stefano!
My wife and I spent five nights at Paola and Stefano's lovely Lucca apartment in late April. With the wonders of the internet, and the thorough information provided through VRBO, there really are fewer surprises than in the "old days". The apartment was just as advertised and depicted in the pictures. First, it is a beautiful place to stay in Lucca. The apartment is very spacious and is made particularly appealing by the high ceilings and tall windows with amazing views of Torre Guinigi just a stone's throw away. The kitchen is small but very well equipped. Second, the location is ideal. You're near the major sites, a short walk to the city wall (a 5 minute walk in multiple directions) but on a very quiet street. Third, I was surprised how much I enjoyed the spacious walk-in closet after having kept our clothes confined to our travel suitcases for the previous two weeks.
This is the first time my wife and I have stayed in a rental property and we enjoyed feeling less like a tourist than you typically do as we went about our food shopping in the markets and returned through the "non-hotel" front door at the end of each day.
We also enjoyed meeting Manuela, the property manager, who was very gracious to pick us up/drop us off at the train station. She has a lot of energy, great insights into Lucca and just plain fun to talk with.
This is a beautiful place and exactly like shown in the pictures. It was such a treat to stay here. Perfect location, stunning finishings especially the ceiling in the bedroom, the atmosphere of the place nicely matching the mood of Lucca, very comfortable stay. Thank you Paola and Stefano for sharing this place with us and to Isa for a very warm welcome.
We have stayed in Lucca before, but out 29 nights in Palazzo Orsucci was the most wonderful vacation of our lives. Larissa was so professional and such a delightful person to deal with. The apartment is large and comfortable in a very romantic setting with the view of Guinigi Tower from all windows. Screens were important to us and this apartment has them on all windows. Air conditioning was great when needed. There was nothing more we could have wished for. The bedroom provided a wonderful walk-in closet and the painting on the ceiling made us feel as if we were back in another century. It was like living in a fairy tale we didn't want to end. The location is ideal. We would recommend this property for any couple looking for the Lucca experience at its best!
We stayed five nights during a very warm period in July. We were cool and comfortable in this apartment, which is in an ideal location. Would gladly stay again.
We stayed for 8 days in this wonderful apartment. This being our first time in Europe, we didn't know what to expect. From the initial inquiry to check-out, we were treated exceptionally! All correspondence was clear and professional. Larissa met us at the door on a very hot July day and provided us with everything we might need both in and out of the apartment. The apartment was beyond our expectations. Perhaps it was the blast of cool air conditioning that greeted us after a full day of travelling. Or perhaps it was the 500 year old mural on the ceiling that awed us with its intricacies. Or perhaps it was the feeling of returning to 'our home' each day after hours of exploring, photographing, and eating. Every detail has been thought out including an excellent washer & dryer [dryer not needed in the heat!], fully stocked kitchen, wonderful cappuccino maker, comfortable bed, spacious closet, roomy shower, and excellent information in the apartment manual. Lucca is the perfect sized city to get lost in. Each day that we ventured out, we found a new street or restaurant to explore. Venture down one street [Via Fillungo] and you are among the masses of shoppers and tourists. Turn down another and you are alone walking in the shadows of century old buildings. We bicycled the walls, ate gelato, and started each day with a macchiato at Taddeucci's bakery. After a dissappointment at the Avis car rental in Lucca [no GPS for us after paying online], we discovered Tau Touring which is a block from the apartment. Katia listened to our sad story of mislaid plans and recommended a private driver to take us sight-seeing up the coast. The air-conditioned car was a relief from the heat and we learned a great deal from the knowledgeable driver as he delivered us to the Cinque Terre and a day of exploring this UNESCO world heritage site. This company was so wonderful that we hired a transfer from the apartment to Florence rather than taking the train. A bit more money, but worth it! We highly recommend staying at this apartment in Lucca if you want to feel like royalty! Paola and Stefano and Larisa have provided a truly memorable experience!
The apartment is located in the heart of the historical center and just in front of the most important city monument.
The CAthedral ,the ORto botanico,San FRediano e PIaza San Michele are 5 minutes by walking.
The 500 Th century Walls are such a short walk away.We love this walk and we go almost daily.
