Very nice house in very nice location. Even though there are neighbors close by, you really feel the peace and quiet.

Reviewer Comments:

Overall a very lovely experience. The house was well kept, several nice amenities such as working fireplace with wood already available, hot tub, big finished basement with game room, kitchen with plenty of cooking tools and dishes/ glassware. The only few things that we noticed were very minor and were probably addressed immediately after our departure. Master toilet needed repair, downstairs tub needed the drain to be fixed (stuck closed). Pool table cue sticks need some attention. Again, very minor things that did not at all detract from a wonderful experience!

Reviewer Comments:

After being evacuated from the Outer Banks, we found our way into this house in the mountains. It was a wonderful and relaxing way to spend the remainder of our week. The house was clean and very comfortably outfitted. The river was further from the house than we had thought based on the photos. The road into the property is a little tight and steep but it's worth the drive. We loved touring West Jefferson; enjoying the cheese factory, shops and Saturday Farmers market.

Reviewer Comments:

The house was large and open with lot's of natural light. The layout of the home provided an open kitchen and eating area, quite spaces, screen porches, covered lower patio with hot tub. The open mowed yard, river access and easy parking was very nice. For floating the river, there is a bridge launching area just down the road a couple miles which provides about a 90 minute float under normal conditions back to the house. CONCERNS: The hot tub became dirty quickly and there were no chemicals or instructions to balance the water. This has been a common problem we have experienced with all Ashe High Country Rentals. If you use the hot tub, plan to call maintenance before your second use undoubtedly, the water will be a mess. The beds squeak and the master king and small twins are rock hard. For such a lovely home, new mattresses or toppers should be a must! We would rent again despite our few complaints. I wish we could have stayed longer than three days.
