My daughter and her husband spent their first night, after their wedding at the carriage house. A perfect retreat!
We attended a wedding in Forest Hill this past weekend and I thought we'd try something different in our lodging choice. I booked this rental through vacationrentals.com. We were thrilled with our decision. First of all, you can see that the Vaughn's take great pride in their property. The grounds were beautiful. The Carriage Loft that we stayed in was just adorable. We were welcomed with fresh flowers from the garden and a dozen farm fresh eggs. There is a full kitchen if you want to prepare your meals. If not, this property is located fairly close to historical downtown Auburn which is also a town worth exploring. I wish we could have stayed longer as it was a nice peaceful departure from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you're ever in this area and are looking for a place to stay, I would highly recommend this place. We will definitely be returning.
This was a perfect getaway for our family - my husband and 2 boys. The cottage apartment was decorated tastefully. Stocked with everything you could possibly need Plenty of room for the 4 of us. We loved being in the country but also close to town, lakes, and other things to do. The grounds are just perfect - and our boys loved the pool and hot tub. The host family was lovely. Friendly but not obtrusive. They even left a dozen eggs - and my boys claimed the best they have ever had! We will definitely visit again!
We stayed at the Carriage Loft for several days while in town planning for my daughter's wedding. We had absolutely everything we needed there! Also, we spent several hours each day in the pool and it was delightful. Bob and Jeanne couldn't be more gracious and kind hosts! We try and stay with them every time we come to Auburn because we can't imagine a more idyllic and peaceful surrounding. It truly is a little slice of paradise!
The Carriage Loft is secluded and quite; situated on a spectacular property with manicured gardens, pool and hot tub, a few contained farm animals, and frogs that ribbit at night. Access was simple and we were delighted with our two night stay.
Upon arrival we quickly dug into the delicious baked goodies the owner left for us. There were fresh eggs from the resident chickens in the refrigerator. The rental was clean and well stocked with everything we could have needed from kitchen utensils to shampoo and conditioner to towels and washer and dryer. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I would highly recommend the Carriage Loft and will try to stay here if in the area again.
This is a lovely, modern apartment above a 4-car garage. It is long and narrow with great views of the farm and pool. The kitchen provided us with every convenience we could need. Directions to the house and where to park were clear and given to us in advance. In the apartment there were no directions about what to do when leaving and I had to refer back to the information I got when I had made the reservation. I specifically rented this because it was the only place I could find that would take 5 people. That said, there are only 2 beds. We put the 3 children together in the very large sleeper-sofa and it did work with some sleep being lost over who slept in the middle and the usual chatter when you put that many children in close proximity. Though these were not my ideal sleeping conditions, I was grateful to find a place that would sleep 5 people. Because the apartment is narrow, there really is no good place to put a cot. For my needs the long hallway with built-in desk and closets might be better used for bunk beds! There was a distracting amount of noise outside from frogs and other country life, but this was remedied at night by locking the windows.
Auburn was a great location for us to get around north Gold Country. In a weekend we saw these state parks: Empire, Malikoff Diggins, Marshal Gold Discovery, and Goldbug. Auburn has a great Saturday farmers market which started our day. There is an historic downtown with enough shopping and restaurants that we ended our day here too.
America's summer castle. Fi Lo Li summer retreat. Surrounded by masonary walls, fountains and a beautiful park setting. Just 20 miles away at 10791 E Empire St., Grass Valley, California.
