There is a 2 mile dirt road to the property and the last 1/2 mile is a little bumpy and it can get muddy or snowy depending on the weather...

About Brian Bodei

My name is Brian and I have lived in this paradise for over 17 years and now its time to share.

Brian Bodei purchased this cabin in 1995

Why Brian Bodei chose New Mexico

This is the only location thats this close to Santa Fe, inside the national forest, on a stream that affords total privacy and high quality of living. I feel so blessed to have been able to live up here all these years. I can never get over how beautiful Pacheco Canyon is!

What makes this cabin unique

This home was designed by and award winning designer - no boring architecture here. The home was planned to feel like the outdoors and indoors were one, and I truly think we succeeded. Sitting by the creek, watching the humming birds, having margaritas on the deck - or in the hot tub. Mountain biking and skiing right out the front door - endless miles of hiking and exploring, watching the birds - it never gets old! The only problem with staying up here is that you will not want to leave....Santa whaa?

peaceful escape

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful property, clean and well kept. Instantly relaxing when you get there. The master bedroom is beautiful, opening up on the mountain stream, and I have not slept so well in months. My wife, kids, and I enjoyed the canyon tremendously and went for daily hikes, sat by the stream, and enjoyed the "cabin" (more like a well appointed home). Brian was awesome, super helpful, and always available. A beautiful, peaceful place to stay.

Quiet and relaxing retreat!

  • 5 of 5

This is an upscale home with a rustic casual feel. We felt right at home immediately! The house is well stocked, both in the kitchen and in the bath. All the amenities of a hotel including a hair dryer. We slept, ate, napped, ate, walked, ate, hot tubbed, and slept again. Relaxation was the goal of this trip and we did accomplish it! While it is convenient to Santa Fe, this house in the woods is so captivating that you may not feel the need to go into town. We didn't. Thank you for sharing this treasure, Brian!

Excellent home in a beautiful secluded location.

  • 4 of 5

Brian was very kind and communicated everything that was needed. Beautiful and clean home with everything needed. The local creatures (hummingbirds, squirrels) are delightful too. Our labradors loved going for walks - there was so much to see and smell. Only one downside to this property - the last 1-mile road leading to the home is horrible, and the mile before that is a bit rough. I hope the roads get repaired as this is the only downside for this property.

Absolutely wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

We loved the cabin! It deserves all the rave reviews it has received! The house is extremely well equipped (kitchen, linens, books/maps, furniture) and clean. Brian was delightful, very helpful and responsive. He left several 10 pound bags of sugar, so we were able to keep the hummingbirds happy -- and there were many. Also, two cans of food for the other birds, who were delightfully demanding. The master suit was spacious and comfortable and our guests raved about the two guest rooms. The rustic environment, along with the stream running in front of the house, was as relaxing as advertised. We enjoyed several meals on the deck and enjoyed reading/relaxing out there as well. Lots of fun hikes right out the door. Tesuque has a couple very good restaurants we enjoyed. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the rough dirt road. It was more challenging than I had anticipated. One probably doesn't have to have a 4 wheel drive, but do need a vehicle with high clearance. It was real slow going the last half mile to the cabin. But, as other reviewers have stated, the cabin more than makes up for the road! Delightful experience.

Totally loved the experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed four nights and loved every minute. It's is a phenominal cabin and location with every detail taken into account. We enjoyed sleeping with the doors/windows open listening to the water running and the sound of humming birds at sunset and sunrise. We hiked by the cabin one morning. Easy to get to nice trails and hikes. Easy to get to town for some fun. Honestly our family of four could have stayed in the cabin and not left. So peaceful! I wish I could live there!

Peaceful and Serene

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was amazing. The cabin was gorgeous and immaculate. The kitchen well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The setting was beautiful and serene. We could not get a cell phone signal but the cabin had a phone and internet and we could FaceTime. It was so peaceful sleeping in the fresh country air while listening to the creek. We enjoyed hiking, grilling, rock hunting, sunbathing, panning for gold in the creek, relaxing in the hot tub, feeding the hummingbirds and other animals. We had a treasure hunt for the kids. We placed a map were the kids would find it showing the location of a treasure chest full of goodies. We were reluctant to leave the cabin but ventured into town to golf, shop, dine, attend the art festival and see Meow Wolf. Being from Texas and being July we were a little concerned about the cabin not having AC but it wasn't needed as the weather was perfect. Having AC would have diminished the appeal and experience. The only downside was the bumpy road to the cabin. The bumpy road was a minor inconvenience for such an extraordinary experience. Brian was a pleasure to work with. Thanks for a great vacation.
