Overview

Asheville Area Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This luxurious mountain cabin is nestled in a hardwood cove surrounded by a babbling brook, blooming rhododendron, and landscaped with native plants. The cabin is tastefully furnished with mission-style antiques, has a wood-burning, field stone fireplace, and all of the amenities of a home away from home. A wrap around porch with outdoor living room surrounds the cabin---perfect for outdoor relaxation by candlelight while listening to the beautiful sounds of nature and a babbling brook. A large grill and stereo speakers make the porch perfect for outdoor lounging and entertaining. Inside is a large great room with a cathedral ceiling with hardwood paneling, dining table for 6, fully equipped modern kitchen, 2 sofa beds, WiFi internet and satellite HDTV with premium movies and sports channels, and BluRay/DVD player.

Originally a summer camp over fifty years ago, the property on which the home sits now is a private, family estate comprised of 66 mountainous acres with two ponds that are fed by 3 streams that originate on the property. There are two small fields at the top of the mountain that are perfect for playing games with the family and throwing balls to the dogs. Gravel roads and trails weave throughout the property for leisurely strolls, short hikes, and outright bush-whacking for the brave hearted! A great place to roam through the woods, play in the streams, and have some fun adventures with kids! Structural relics of the old summer camp still exist----old stone foundations from the cabins, a stone amphitheater in a mountain cove, outdoor fireplaces, etc. make for interesting exploration as you walk the property. The largest pond is over an acre and is stocked with Rainbow Trout. An outbuilding that serves as a workshop/garage with a large front porch deck overlooks the pond with a grill and patio furniture making the perfect space for relaxing while fishing for your evening meal. This is more than a rental home --- it's an adventure!

The Master BR has a King-size bed and a bathroom with a full bathtub/shower (the home's other bathroom has a spacious shower with a Waterpik high-pressure showerhead with an extra long hose if your dog happens to need a shower too!). One of the two additional BRs has a Queen-sized bed, and the other is a King. The LR has two, new Queen-size sleeper sofa beds.

Note: If this home is booked, there is one other home on this same property that isn't within seeing or hearing range (a small mountain separates them). Both homes have similar amenities, but it is a 2BR/2BA. You can check its availability by searching for property number 565064.

What makes this cabin unique

The property has plenty of room to play with an acre trout pond, ball field, multiple streams, and hiking trails for long walks. Just down the road is the Frozen Creek entrance to Gorges State Park which is very close to the property. The Blue Ridge Parkway can be accessed approximately 10 miles away, and whitewater rafting and canoeing on the French Broad River is a mere 1.5 miles away.

Lovely cabin and property

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was well-maintained, clean and nicely decorated. The grounds were also very nice to walk around with a pond, gardens and a short trail. The host was very responsive.

One of out best vacations!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time using VRBO and I was a little nervous about the process. It was much easier than expected and David was wonderful to deal with. The attention to detail was obvious in every part of the cabin. Everything was super clean and better than described. The sweeping front porch was everyone's favorite place to hang out. After hiking, fishing, shopping, and just exploring the area, it was easy to fall asleep in the super comfortable beds. The town of Brevard is charming, and the people are some of the nicest and friendliest I ever encountered in a vacation area (even my 17 year old son noticed). It's hard to plan a vacation to appeal to both sets of parents and our son, but we all thoroughly enjoyed it, and can't wait to come back.

Pro: Great location, privacy, plenty to do at the cabin or in general area, super clean, homey, attention to detail

Cons: (Had to really think hard) Wish there was more lighting in the kitchen

Thank you David for sharing your wonderful cabin with us!!

Serene home base for activities galore!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our long weekend here and hope to stay longer next time! It's an easy jaunt to Brevard, but we were happy just ambling the property, checking out the flowers while the kids fished in the pond. We slept like rocks, and the rain on the tin roof was heavenly. My husband and his dad fished with Walker Parrot of Davidson River Outfitters. We hiked the Moore Cove Trail, and my daughter and I rode horses in Pisgah one morning. On the rainy afternoon, I drove the kids to the Coed Theater to catch the amazing Jungle Book movie. We ate lunch at the soda shop and had dinner at Quixote when weren't grilling at the cabin. There is so much to do in this area. Can't wait to go back and stay here again. Would be even more fun if friends rented the other house while we were there. Thanks for the tips and hospitality. I will recommend this rental!

Great property - again!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed here before and will be back. Our two families enjoyed the streams, walking paths, and enjoying all the nature on the property.

David is easy to work with and works hard to ensure that you have a good stay. We look forward to returning next year.

Great Stay for Families!!

  • 5 of 5

We traveled to the property for a few days during our kids' spring break. The cabin was well organized, clean and very well stocked!! We enjoyed traveling to Brevard to walk through the town, hiking on the trails around the cabin, and fishing in the pond.

We would definitely visit again!

Another great stay!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at this wonderful property. It has everything a family could need for a great vacation, plus hiking trails, streams and a trout pond on the property. Very private, but still very close to Brevard. Highly recommended!!
