About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + 2 Queen-size Convertible Sofa bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

This luxurious mountain cabin is nestled in a hardwood cove surrounded by a babbling brook, blooming rhododendron, and landscaped with native plants. The cabin is tastefully furnished with mission-style antiques, has a wood-burning, field stone fireplace, and all of the amenities of a home away from home. A wrap around porch with outdoor living room surrounds the cabin---perfect for outdoor relaxation by candlelight while listening to the beautiful sounds of nature and a babbling brook. A large grill and stereo speakers make the porch perfect for outdoor lounging and entertaining. Inside is a large great room with a cathedral ceiling with hardwood paneling, dining table for 6, fully equipped modern kitchen, 2 sofa beds, WiFi internet and satellite HDTV with premium movies and sports channels, and BluRay/DVD player.

Originally a summer camp over fifty years ago, the property on which the home sits now is a private, family estate comprised of 66 mountainous acres with two ponds that are fed by 3 streams that originate on the property. There are two small fields at the top of the mountain that are perfect for playing games with the family and throwing balls to the dogs. Gravel roads and trails weave throughout the property for leisurely strolls, short hikes, and outright bush-whacking for the brave hearted! A great place to roam through the woods, play in the streams, and have some fun adventures with kids! Structural relics of the old summer camp still exist----old stone foundations from the cabins, a stone amphitheater in a mountain cove, outdoor fireplaces, etc. make for interesting exploration as you walk the property. The largest pond is over an acre and is stocked with Rainbow Trout. An outbuilding that serves as a workshop/garage with a large front porch deck overlooks the pond with a grill and patio furniture making the perfect space for relaxing while fishing for your evening meal. This is more than a rental home --- it's an adventure!

The Master BR has a King-size bed and a bathroom with a full bathtub/shower (the home's other bathroom has a spacious shower with a Waterpik high-pressure showerhead with an extra long hose if your dog happens to need a shower too!). One of the two additional BRs has a Queen-sized bed, and the other is a King. The LR has two, new Queen-size sleeper sofa beds.

Note: If this home is booked, there is one other home on this same property that isn't within seeing or hearing range (a small mountain separates them). Both homes have similar amenities, but it is a 2BR/2BA. You can check its availability by searching for property number 565064.

What makes this cabin unique

The property has plenty of room to play with an acre trout pond, ball field, multiple streams, and hiking trails for long walks. Just down the road is the Frozen Creek entrance to Gorges State Park which is very close to the property. The Blue Ridge Parkway can be accessed approximately 10 miles away, and whitewater rafting and canoeing on the French Broad River is a mere 1.5 miles away.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The property is well maintained and beautiful. Our children worked together to fish, hike and play. We did not use the t.v. It was the relaxing getaway our family needed! House is perfectly stocked and very comfortable.

Amazing cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had an amazing stay in your cabin this weekend. We found the accommodations clean, comfortable, adequately supplied and beyond our expectations. You have created a wonderful place to rest and relax. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed exploring, fishing and sitting on the porch. We will definitely return!

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying at David's cabins and we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. The setting is beautiful and the grandchildren love fishing in the trout farm. We spent a lot of time sitting on the porch enjoying the wonderful weather and just experiencing the peaceful surroundings. Everything we could possibly need is stocked in that kitchen. The only addition we can think of is to add a light over the sink in the kitchen and a nice big rocking chair on the porch! We will definitely be back.

A peaceful mountain retreat!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our global family of 8 (6 adults and 2 kids) really enjoyed this awesome place and we can't wait to come back! It is so quiet and peaceful, and mid August was a great time to come. The cabin is so fully equipped and comfortable, that we lacked for nothing! Even the kids were entertained and explored safely around the grounds. We sipped wine on the porch at sunset and just enjoyed the evening sounds of nature. Everyone slept soundly, especially after our wonderful tour of the local waterfalls. Here are the words our family used to describe our stay:

"Incredible, awesome, relaxing, comfortable, quiet and a very unique experience for Taiwanese visitors"!

Everyone feels so calm and peaceful as we head home.

We have filled up on nature's wonderful negative ions! (which are very positive to one's health!!!) Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Gorges State Park Frozen Creek entrance is just down the road within biking distance where trails can be used for mountain biking and long hikes to some of the better waterfalls in the county, the Brevard Music Center host the Brevard Music Festival each summer with the conductor of the Boston Pops, Whitewater Rafting, kayaking, canoeing, water tubing, zip lining, and river snorkeling are about 2 miles away, and the Blue Ridge Parkway's most scenic views (in my opinion, at least) are located between the onramp of hwy 276 from the Pisgah Forest entrance to the exit ramp onto hwy 215 down the mountain to the cabin and property, the county has numerous Summer Camps, Dupont State Forest is well-known for it's waterfalls as well as having been the setting for several movies such as the first of the Hunger Games series, Craft Beer Breweries and Brewery Tours at Oskar Blues East Coast Brewery in Brevard, Brevard Brewing Company, Pisgah, and Sierra Nevada's brewery in Mills River about a 35 minute drive away. Transylvania County is the East Coast mountain biking capitol with some of the best trails in the country. Similarly Pisgah National Forest and the Shining Rock Wilderness area contain some of the best hiking east of the Mississippi.
