About The Owner

This is me in my art car. I have been a professional intuitive since 1993 and have teaching intuition classes since 1995. Presently I hold dating workshops and relationship support groups throughout the year. Somehow over the years I have become a relationship expert and have yet to find a question that I can’t answer. I enjoy local theatre and the film festivals and have found a great outlet for my reviews at the austinpost. I live in the neighborhood less than a mile from the rental. I am known for having one of the most colorful houses in this very eclectic neighborhood. The yard has been featured on the local yard art tour. The art car pictured above is my fourth. It is “Carsmos” which is decorated with a sea theme, the solar system, the city of Austin, and the different regions of earth on the hood. I am the female in the photo and my life partner is the male, who is also an artist. We have travelled a bit (mostly the U.S. and Europe) and the photos throughout the rental are ours. Color makes me feel alive and the color in the rental and in our photography is a reflection of that passion. My motto is “if there is still twenty minutes, there is time to see a museum”. Having studied art history and gone on four art history tours of Europe, I have been fortunate to have seen some of the very best European Masters and some of the greatest museums in the world. I couldn’t be happier.

The Owner purchased this townhome in 1990

Why The Owner chose Austin

I purchased the Four-Plex because of the incredible location and the highly desirable neighborhood. Although it looks like it might be a busy street, it is quiet and peaceful. I enjoy the greenery and the old trees everywhere. It is hard to get much closer to the park or to the back entrance of our famous Barton Springs Pool. It is our natural treasure. The unit is in a residential neighborhood but only blocks away are some of the best Austin restaurants located on Barton Springs Rd. Everything is close. There is no need to start a hike on Lady Bird Lake’s Hike and Bike trail when just walking out the door will add less than a mile extra to the run…one way of course. I lived in one of the units in 1990. It was hard to leave but fortunately I didn’t have to go too far. The neighbors are great and if you say “hi” they will always greet you with a big smile. Not only that but I’m sure they won’t mind helping with directions. After all, it is the Austin way.

What makes this townhome unique

I have lived in Austin for over 35 years. I have great tourist advice. If you want to know the coolest things to do during your stay just ask. She can tell you how to reach me. Honestly, it would be hard to be in a better location, in a more comfortable environment, surrounded by the best that Austin has to offer. Have a cup of coffee, sit back, read, watch TV, or do nothing. Better yet enjoy the best of everything that Austin has to offer. It is just around the corner. You can drive, take the bus, or bike anywhere. After all my travels I still believe Austin is the best city on the planet.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful apartment and so close to Zilker / Barton Springs. I went running on the trails every day. The 2-block proximity to nature and the lake really made this work trip feel almost like vacation. Also, the grill on the patio works just great! Thank you Lois!

Great stay, exactly as presented, loved a full kitchen and laundry, plenty of room to be comfortable, so much better than a hotel!

Zilker Park Place! WOW

  • 5 of 5

This place is great! LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Zilker Park is about two blocks away, has great running trails, a natural spring fed pool, and the Food trucks are close by. We met Lois, she was so friendly, had great information about Austin. We went to go see the bats at her recommendation. It was something spectacular to see. I hope to stay here again. Thank you Lois! We had a blast!

great little gem of a place

  • 5 of 5

the listing description was on the money. no surprises (was sad I didn't have any fish to feed though). The apt. was very clean and well maintained.

Lois, the owner, goes above and beyond the call and bends over backwards for her renters. I experienced this up close and personal when I left my keys in the apt and closed/locked the door when I left to get a late bite. I was able to remedy this unfortunate incident well after 10pm.

I would stay here again in a heart beat. Lots of walking trails, zilker park gardens, easy access to anywhere downtown, easy access to highways. Every restaurant on my list was reached within 15-20 minutes (and I arrived with quite a list).

Elizabeth St. Cafe, la condesa, ramen tatsuya, Josephine's, Clarks oyster bar, mickelthwaites all tipped the scales of my happy place.

Everything in this apt. is there to make your stay the most comfortable and homelike of anywhere. I love staying in homes, in neighborhoods and not hotels. it just makes you think you are more of a resident rather than a visitor/tourist. Glad I found it. Hope you find it!

This is where we will want to stay on future visits

  • 5 of 5

We come to Austin for about a week each year to visit our son. We have stayed at hotels, B&Bs and VRBO's, but there was always something wanting wherever we stayed. Now we have found the place where we hope to stay on all future visits. The Zilker neighborhood is hard to beat (it is close to where our son lives). Very peaceful, close to good eating and parks. The bed was very comfortable, loved the art and the downstairs toilet. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was a great place to entertain friends and family. Lois is a kick (love that car), and just meeting her made it all the more worthwhile. We love being so close to peaceful walking and the canoe rentals. We enjoyed waking up to the sound of the birds, which is something you don't get in a hotel.

Amazingly Satisfied

  • 5 of 5

The condo is everything the website said it would be.

The bed is amazingly comfortable! We userally have a reservation at the Hyatt off Riverside, due to it being located near everything we love.

Oh my word, we love Lois and her condo! We both had a lot on our agendas that weekend, so we didn't get to meet, but everytime I emailed or called, she responded quickly. My husband said, this is our new place when we're in Austin!

If you are planning to visit Austin, this is the only place to relax and have fun.

Map

This very large one bedroom vacation rental is located in the Zilker Park Area of Austin. It is in 78704 known for the Soco District, Barton Springs Pool, and an abundance of out door activities. The trail surrounding Lady Bird Lake is less than a mile from the rental and Barton Springs Pool couldn't be much closer. Downtown, 6th street, and the warehouse district are minutes away. We are close to almost anything and everything a tourist would want to do. Downtown is less than a $10.00 cab ride away. A bus stop and a convenience store are located around the corner.

Other Activities: Hiking, shopping, pubs, clubs
