About Kathie

We make so much out of our weeks in Chatham and all the other villages around and hope you do too! We thoroughly enjoy the charm, great beaches, nice people, great antique nooks and shopping, but most of all, great clam chowder, New England seafood and homemade ice cream! We love to jump on the bikes and peddle a loop down over the marsh to Red River Beach, then up to the Old Colony Rail Trail Bike path, then peddle to down the bike path to Hangar B Eatery and order a big stack of Blueberry Pancakes or Eggs Benedict and watch the small planes taxi and take off. And in the morning with a low tide, drive to the N.O.A.A. and walk out to the spit and check out seals and birds, and more. But don't linger because the tide will come in! We also love to Jump on Jim's Water Taxi at the Pier and cruise over to North Beach Island and boogie board with the seals! It is so quiet out there, we always feel like we literally have the island to ourselves! We love walking around Nantucket's Village which is a short ferry ride five minutes from the is a beautiful boat ride and does not feel like a ferry at all. We venture a little further into town to the acclaimed Dune Restaurant for the best lobster rolls in town! And if we are maxed out on sun, we take a drive up to Provincetown for more great food and galleries. (No worries, we will burn it off biking and boogie boarding at Marconi Beach tomorrow! )

Why Kathie chose Chatham

Chatham is so charming and this comfortable private home is an excellent way to enjoy it. There is nothing better than walking to dinner, then sitting on the beach until the sun goes down. This home affords the easy beach life. Two popular restaurants are within walking distance, and the Chatham Fish and Lobster Company is close by if you want to grill your own in the backyard. Birdwatch at the breakfast table, or walk to the Red River Marsh. Drive to Provincetown and stop at the Cape Cod National Seashore along the way. The Nantucket Fast Ferry is a five minute drive to the dock in HarwichPort, and Martha's Vineyard also makes a great day trip from the ferry in Hyannis. There are bike trails and walking trails close as well.

What makes this house unique

This SUNDAY turn-over schedule allows you to enjoy a Friday night in town (great restaurants and music at the bandstand most Friday summer nights), and not have to rush home to pack. Also the majority of the turn-overs occur on Saturday, so you will miss the SATURDAY turn-over TRAFFIC.

Guestbook comments from the owner

"My family and I have really enjoyed this stay at this house. I really love it here. We come to Cape Cod every year, and I have to say that this is the best place! And I will say again I really do love it. The best beach was Ridgevale Beach. It was really fun and great for kids." (declared by a happy young guest)

Welcoming Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this adorable vacation house full of character. It is in a very quiet neighborhood, and offers privacy all around. The decor was beachy, and nice and bright --loved it! Spotlessly clean too. The large, level yard was perfect for my 3 and 6 year old grand kids to play in. The home is stocked with everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and bathrooms. There were lots of beach gear- chairs, towels, umbrellas, kids toys, and even a cart to haul it all in. The kids were very easy to entertain there as well, and checked out all the games and movies. Loved the outdoor shower! Although we brought our own, there were several nice quality bikes in the garage too. I wouldn't attempt to cross Rt 28 with smaller children, but the access to the rail trail was easy to get to from the house for adults. My favorite ride was to go to the end of Morton St., then off to the left for terrific riding, and at the rotary, turn up to the right and head to Brewster. The views and riding were fantastic! It was easy to crank out 25 miles, or just a few. My 3 year old grandson found a beautiful Box Turtle in the driveway under my car early one morning, and it totally made my day...I haven't seen one since I was a kid myself, so keep it slooow and say hi to "Zippy" if you see him again! I would love to return again for another fun week in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for writing a review! So glad you enjoyed your vacation in our home and we hope you come back as well....and in the meantime, we will keep a look out for Zippy! For any guests with questions about the Bike trail access, you may google the Cape Cod Rail Trail to see the route. There is an access point on Morton Street which is across from Forest Street at the cross walk on Main St/Rte 28.

Perfect Cape Vacation Home

  • 5 of 5

We have vacationed in Chatham for several years and this home was definitely a favorite- quiet location but near everything, clean and comfortable, charming decor and plenty of space and yard for every summer activity.

Kathie, the owner was always available and attentive to all our questions prior to our stay, during our stay, and we were appreciative of her time, no matter the time of day, or night.

The house was appointed with everything a family needs for a comfortable stay- our girls enjoyed riding the bikes along the long private drive, and the nearby Chatham Bike Trail. They also loved their room upstairs and enjoyed the TV- something they don't have in their rooms at home! Nights were spent in Chatham and nearby Harwich racing go carts, jumping on trampolines, and enjoying many different ice cream options. The home is located near a few beaches and we got a weekly sticker which allowed us to visit many of our favorite Chatham beaches during our stay. Kathie was very helpful with suggestions for Martha's Vineyard- we drove to Falmouth and rode the Island Queen ferry- as well as other points of interest in and near Chatham.

Very happy we chose this rental and will look forward to returning again! Thank you, Kathie!

A wonderful home in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had a great week at Kathie's house. The house is in a great location close to Red River beach and Pleasant Street beach. We either biked to or ran to both beaches almost every morning. The house itself was lovely. Very clean and loads of space. We had lovely weather but the one hot night the window units kept the house very comfortable. The long private driveway was a novelty for us and made the house more unique. We made use of the bikes for exploring the area. Overall a great trip at a great house. Kathie is very accommodating and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

Lovely home and location. The landlord thought of everything and labeled everything with clear instructions. Only complaint would be that the lights flickered constantly. Probably needs to upgrade the electrical system. Always worried that a fuse would be blown or a power outage. Even night lights flickered. The house itself is private, extremely well kept and decorated. Easy walk to beach, and drive to downtown Chatham. Would definitely recommend to others and will hopefully return to the house in the future.
