A perfect holiday
We had great correspondence with Makoto who met us at Nishi-Ogikubo when we arrived and took us to the apartment, showing us local restaurants on the way which was very helpful. The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and exactly as described. The 24 hour supermarket was so convenient as it is just across the road. Nishi-Ogikubo is a great area with many different restaurants and bars and the JR station is just minutes away so it is a perfect location for getting around Tokyo. I can recommend a steak restaurant just up the road that Makoto showed us, as well as a great basement blues bar round the corner of the apartment. We would definitely recommend this property, as we had a perfect holiday.
Home base in Nishi-Ogikubo
Last June, we rented this apartment for a month. It was a perfect fit for our family of four (us and two small children). We loved the close proximity of the train station and Seiyu (grocery store). It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood with several close restaurants. A couple of our favorites were Mahane Tane and Zarigani Yakitori. The train station is located on the Chuo line which made it easy to get around Tokyo. The apartment came fully stocked with everything we needed - even umbrellas (it was the rainy season)! It had a washing machine with laundry soap and fabric softener. We used it often! There isn't a dryer, but it is fully stocked with several ways to hang laundry. The apartment is bigger than it looks in the pictures. The master bedroom is on the other side of a partial wall and is not completely closed off. The bunk bed room fit our kids well. They loved that they had a TV in their room! The all white décor was clean and crisp. The kitchen was fully stocked with plates, cups, utensils and pans. There was a rice cooker, toaster oven and gas stove top. Makoto was invaluable to us. He helped to direct us to the apartment and met us at the train station. He walked us to the apartment and went through everything we needed to know. Be sure to pay close attention to the trash procedures - they are complex. He was very attentive and helped us throughout our trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Tokyo and will not hesitate to stay at this apartment again.
Awesome Apartment and Neighborhood
My husband, our daughter and I stayed here for 8 days. It was such a great location. Really convenient to the train, grocery store and local restaurants. Super clean and comfortable. Makoto met us at the train and showed us around. He was super friendly and took the time to point out the grocery store and favorite local restaurants. We highly recommend the Ramen Restaurant across from the apartment. You can see it from the balcony. Ask for an english menu. The yaki soba and the BBQ pork ramen soup are to die for! The apartment was very comfortable. We packed light and used the washer(soap was provided). There is no dryer, but we used the clothes line and that worked just fine! There is a laundromat next door but we didn't need it. I highly recommend soaking in the tub after a long day of sight seeing, it is wonderful. Shampoo, conditioner and soap are provided, no need to pack or buy it there! We took a few day trips and this location was really convenient to get to Shinjuku to catch the Shinkasen. We highly recommend staying here and couldnt have been more pleased with the service! Arigatou Gozaimasu Makoto!
Perfect for every occasion I can think of...
I stayed at this apartment with three friends (total of two girls and two guys, around 30 years old) for eleven nights, and we enjoyed every moment.
The apartment description is pretty accurate, with all the amenities we could need. It was certainly clean and the owners were very helpful and detailed in every aspect of our stay, above all with the instructions on how to dispose of garbage in Japan (man, that's hard!).
At short walking distance from the apartment you can find every kind of service you'll probably need, 24 hours, and it's also a short train ride away from Tokyo's more central districts. We used this apartment as our "base of operations" for all kinds of activities, from shopping to eating to clubbing, went to museums (the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka is only two stations away!), traditional theater, amusement centers, temples, a sightseeing day trip to the Fuji Five Lake area and another one by shinkansen as far as Nagoya. It was really our home in Japan for a week and a half! =)
Fantastic Tokyo Accommodation
Three years ago, my husband and I stayed in Nakano apartment (also operated by Live in Asia) and we were so impressed by the service provided, particularly by Makoto San, that we decided to try out another of the Live In Asia apartments this time around- we needed an extra room because we were travelling as a group of three.
From commencing the booking process to final departure, Makoto San was fantastic. Makoto San guided us by phone to the Nishi Ogikubo station where we met him late in the evening and he took us to the apartment. Makoto San advised us on local information prior to our trip, but also upon arrival, I note that he also went to lengths to obtain answers to my inquiries about sento in the area before we arrived.
A fantastic 24 hour supermarket is within a stone's throw of the apartment.
The apartment itself is well equipped and more than big enough for our group of three. The apartment was exceptionally clean, warm (we travelled in the middle of Japanese winter) and close to everything. The train ride to Shinjuku was probably under 15 minutes, staying in Nishi Ogikubo during the New Year period was a fantastic choice as it enabled us to experience the hustle and bustle of Akihabara and the like, but at the same time retire to a quiet area with all amenities one could possibly want.
We only wish we'd had more time to explore Nishi Ogikubo itself! We were out most days, so our late night walks meant we passed many fascinating antique and other stores that we didn't get a minute to visit during the day.
We are home now, longing to go back to Japan and would definitely stay at this apartment again in a heart beat.
