We loved the location of this apartment, liked its accessibility to the French Quarter but really loved walking back "home" at the end of the evening. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe and friendly. We enjoyed our patio on several occasions. We were traveling without a car so walking was our main mode of transport. Took the bikes out for a spin, which was fun. William was responsive and helpful in answering my questions and when I had a problem just prior to our trip.
The neighborhood had some great eats: Awesome breakfast at Cake (way too handy!), New Orleans Co-op at St. Roch and St. Claude was a favorite for grocery shopping, upstairs at Mimi's had great tapas and drinks, Paladar 511, just 2 blocks away on Marigny, was our favorite dinner spot of the whole trip.
We experienced the New Orleans "lagniappe". Such a friendly, welcoming city. Hopefully we'll be back.
My wife and I were very impressed with the property and the ease of checking in/out. The property was exactly like it looked in the photos and had everything we could have hoped for. Truly a home away from home. The location was perfect! With just a short distance to the French Quarter we walked almost everywhere. The owners take pride in their property and it shows! We fell in love with the neighborhood and hope to visit again soon. Thank you Bill and Lynn for such an amazing stay.
My bf and I stayed at Le Cadeau for one week in May and it was honestly perfect. Nothing to complain about. The location, size, cleanliness, bikes, kitchen... it all made for an amazing stay in New Orleans. There are some great restaurants in the neighbourhood and everything is within walking distance - or a short bike ride away. We truly had a wonderful trip and this rental played a big role in that success.
We had never been to New Orleans before, so we were not quite sure what to expect. The description and pictures were accurate, and we really loved this place. It is part of a larger house, but sits back along a carriageway. It is the ground floor of the second unit. The entry is about 2/3 of the way down and opes into the dining room. A full kitchen is to the right (and the bathroom with full bath is off that). To the left through the dining room is a sitting room with a TV and pull out couch bed with a pull shut screen if needed (there is no hall) followed by the bedroom. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of closet space for your stuff for a longer stay. There was a laundry shed in the carriage way, which we used. The location is in a nice quiet neighborhood in the Marigny,. It is close to the action on Frenchmens St (three blocks) but not too close. The south end of the street opens up on an industrial area, which was fairly quiet--you would occasionally hear a train horn. We felt very safe at night, but caution is always advised in NOLA. It is about 5 blocks from the start of the French Quarter by the Old Mint (and the Riverfront Streetcar Line). It was a great place to explore from. Reasonably close enough to walk, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the Quarter. The owners recommendations of Cake Cafe (three doors down) and Silk Road were spot on. While we did not physically meet the owner (everything was handled by mail/e-mail), the check in and out procedures were well explained and we had no trouble at all. There was a nice book of maps and guides (we added a couple). Parking was not a problem, even on the weekend. You may not get exactly in front of the door every time, but you will be in the block (though I expect times like Mardi Gras it might be tougher). There were only two minor things we might have wished for--a microwave, though the toaster oven worked fine for leftovers and a printout of the TV channels (and there may have been one we missed)--but that's pretty minor. WifFi worked just fine and was very useful for us--we were able to update and make reservations as needed for one. We would love to stay here again on our next visit to New Orleans. It's a great city. Refund of the security deposit was prompt. We highly recommend this place and the owners!
The apartment and location are ideal. Bill and Lynn Kretzer are the epitome of laid back yet ultra efficient hosts. The neighbors in the condo complex are quiet and cordial. We loved our stay. I won't list the lagniappe in case it varies over time, but we got a LOT of value added amenities. Downside? Hmmmmm? More lamps for easier indoor reading would be a plus. It is a great home base in the Holy City.
