|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This family oriented cottage is located on the beautiful beaches of the Gulf. A step out the porch door puts you on your way to a day of sun, fun, and the clearest waters ever. The glass enclosed sleeping porch sleeps four and is perfect for the children of the family.
This is truly a beachfront cottage. Two flights of stairs, shown in the photos end at the beach - which is perfect for beach combing and long walks!
Our cottage is available for rental Spring through Fall (March 15 - November 15).
A legacy from Old Florida, the property is close to Carillon Beach and Inlet Beach. It is a relaxing location, but near to many area attractions for those who like a more active pace. Even though you're at the quiet end of Panama City Beach you're still close to many restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, biking, hiking, not to mention all the water fun on the gulf. To the west you're only a short drive to Scenic 30-A, home to many upscale shops and restaurants. Going east takes you to the fun spots of Panama City Beach including Pier Park for movies, restaurants and shopping. Bay Breeze Bait & Tackle is located 1.0 mile from the cottage, on Back Beach Road. Bay Breeze Adventures, Bait & Tackle can help with fishing trips and rents kayaks and paddleboards.

Our family has owned this cottage since 1952. Our grandparents raised five children in this vacation location. A fourth generation of the family are now crabbing, discovering sand dollars, building sand castles, and enjoying their childhood beach vacations.
Johanna Heywood purchased this cottage in 1952
My grandmother always said that if heaven was not like this beach, she would be disappointed.
I was so excited to book my trip to this property. Upon arrival I was in shock of how you could see through to the outside around all of the window a/c units and the back doors. Hot air was boiling in and the a/c units couldn't keep up. I also discovered that one unit was plugged into a non-grounded outlet, of which were the only type near the unit. I decided I could easily temporarily fix these issues myself (because I had my two dogs with me and calling the owner for a remedy would upset them as they do not like strangers) Because the unit was left plugged in by the cleaning crew I just assumed this was the way it always was. The rest of my stay was ok, I tried to get comfortable but ended up switching beds every night. On the last day I switched on the living room fan and heard a strange sound, one of the fan blades was attempting to escape. I switched it off and reached up to stop it from falling (all the while noticing the inches and wads of dust that had accumulated on the decrepit, ancient ceiling fan) and it fell off. Being the homeowner that I am I just knew the owners were aware of their property and that the fan was already on it's last leg. It didn't cross my mind to inform them. The entire place needs TLC in the most basic of ways, on the hottest day you could feel the heat coming through the roof in one of the bathrooms. The property has only storm windows, I can only imagine what the electric bill looks like. The living room furniture actually has boards under the cushions it is so broken down. My advice is to spend your hard earned money else where. The floors were so filthy they turned your feet black and all the baseboards are coated in dust. I finally contacted the owner a month after my departure to find out she was planning to keep my damage deposit, UNREAL!! She says she attempted to contact me, I never received a text or voicemail. She claimed that I also slept in too many beds (even though I paid the cleaning fee and RENTED THE ENTIRE PROPERTY) This property and owner are in violation of several Florida landlord statues and building codes. The place is a fire trap. There are holes in the floor beside the fridge where you can see through to the ground outside. I am disheartened by this experience. I am 32 yr old and have been taking vacations since I can remember. I HAVE NEVER HAD SOMEONE KEEP MY DAMAGE DEPOSIT. You cannot rent this place through VRBO, big mistake, only by check (shady business practice).
I felt like a kid again in this quaint and peaceful cottage.. So comfortable and welcoming....Very reminiscent of Old Florida... I left a piece of my heart there.. I slept on the sleeping porch so I'd be wakened by the sun.. Every morning, my 79 year old mother, my sister, brother in law and I walked out to the beach and played in the waves, just laughing and cutting up like we were kids again.. My dogs loved the peaceful energy and responded beautifully...they loved sitting out on the deck with me.. There's a fun dog friendly beach directly across from Pier Park... Oh and that deck at night.. Crashing of the waves and the breeze under the night sky... The beds are soooo comfortable. My sister has trouble sleeping but she slept like a rock here. Even the couches are comfy.. I spent a lazy afternoon laying on the long one binge watching Netflix! The entire house just has this wonderful energy and feel to it, I felt like I belonged there.... The kitchen had Everything we needed to cook a great dinner! I will be back again and again.. My brother in law even said, " You did good, Anna. This house is awesome." Thank you, Johanna, for opening up your beloved Grandmother's special place to us...
We just returned from a stay at Santa Rosina and had a lovely time. It was described exactly how it appeared and the beach view and access is amazing. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. You could hear the waves from every bedroom. We loved that we basically had our own private beach but still convenient to restaurants, grocery store, shopping, etc. My 82 year old mother joined us at the last minute and it was perfect for her. She has difficulty walking in the sand but was able to still enjoy the beach from the deck. And it was nice for her not to have to walk up any steps to get to the house. As she describes it.... "she was in heaven". We will definitely be back.
Enjoyed our time at this family cottage. Pictures are true to life. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. Weather was very hot and A/C units kept it comfortable. Breakfast at Sunnyside Grill was great...just a walk across the street. Sandburs are horrible, so don't veer off the path without shoes (including a pet). Grocery stores just a mile away. Walmart a little further to the east. Found a wonderful bead store in downtown Panama City. All in all it was a relaxing time on the beach enjoying the view and doing nothing! Thank you JoHanna and family.
Upon arrival, opened the lock box for key.... no key!! Phoned Johanna and a short time later Donna the cleaning person arrived with a key, thank goodness!! The screened in porch was great.. if there should come a storm make sure you don't have anything out on porch that shouldn't get wet!! The cottage is set up a little different, but we made it work. Lots of doors!! The sleep room we had trouble finding an outlet to plug tv into.. found one above window ac unit!! It could use some updates, but I can only imagine what this cottage looked like when it was first built-- the view from the sleep room would have been beautiful!! The closest laundry we found is Lakeside Coin Laundry- Hwy 98, just east of 79, plenty of washers & dryers! We ate across street at the grill a few times, and it was pretty darn good! Thomas' Donuts is just a little east in Laguna Beach along with an Ice Cream Shop. Even though we brought a bucket of sand toys, there are plenty there along with some sand chairs. The outside shower & hose were great. Grocery stores close by, and a Dollar General on 98 head E.. We had a day of Blue Button jellyfish, but the next day there were only a few around.. Someone made a suggestion about wearing flip flops on path down to beach... yep it's a good idea, there are little stickers that you have no way of seeing!! 10:00 Sat. morning sure came fast, and I'm hoping I didn't forget anything!! But will never forget all the memories that were made this past week.. Thank you Johanna for sharing your family vacation cottage with us!!
There's are two grocery stores (publix & winn dixie) within a five minute drive from the cottage.
There's also a tackle/bait shop within a five minute drive that sells fishing licenses and rents kayaks, and paddle boards.
