Comfortable West Side Kauai rental across from the ocean
Our rental became unavailable due to an electrical fire the week before arrival, but we were offered an alternative property nearby. Hence, I'm not sure which I'm actually reviewing here. We did like the new location--Hale Kekaha--probably even better than our original choice. All went smoothly as the owner of the new property was there to help us check in
This home is beautiful and has everything you need. Great location for Waimea Canyon and the West side beaches. The large yard is beautiful. My only criticism would be that the housekeeping needs improvement - the ceiling fans hadn't been cleaned in a year or longer and there was a lot of hair in the shower/tub. Those were minor issues that are easily remedied. I would stay here again for sure.
Good quiet rental
Overall an excellent property to stay at when you are on the island.
This was such a good house for our stay. We appreciated being able to turn on the a/c in the bedroom a couple of nights when it was very warm. But mostly, we loved sleeping with all the windows open, the fan on and enjoying the beautiful breeze. We cooked dinner in the beautifully equipped kitchen , and used the gas grill too. What a treat to have fruits and coconuts straight from the yard, and a walk on the beach each evening.
Trade winds house , Kauai
Was clean. Breezy , equipped with all our needs ! The stay was amazing . We loved it and would Deff come back !
Lovely, spacious cottage
We are two sisters and our sister-in-law, and came to Kauai to celebrate a retirement. We arrived at Tradewinds Cottage after a storm and quite rainy week on the north side of the island. Our luck changed in Kekaha! The sun shone every day with just a few sprinkles; it was wonderful.
Tradewinds Cottage was perfect: roomier than we expected, even prettier than the photos, very clean, with a well-stocked kitchen, washer/drier, plenty of linens, an enclosed deck accessible from the master bedroom, a barbecue, beach chairs and an umbrella, fruit trees (we enjoyed the oranges) - everything a guest might need. It's February, so it was warm during the day, and pleasantly cool at night; we had no need for air conditioning. The cottage is very private and located in a quiet neighborhood, just what we wanted (yes, there are roosters, but they're all over Kauai). It's just steps to the ocean and the sunsets were spectacular. There are grocery stores not far away in Waimea, and nearby Hanapepe has shops, including a great bookstore (the "westernmost book store in the US") and Japanese Grandma's Cafe, where we had a delicious lunch. Waimea Canyon is spectacular beyond words; it took our breath away. There are so many beaches to explore; our favorite was Salt pond, quieter than Poipu, and good for kids.
We loved our stay at Tradewinds Cottage, and recommend it highly!
Short drive to the Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park for the island's best hiking opportunity....access road is only a few blocks to the West
