Moose Landing, as it is affectionately known, is a 2 level secluded home on 0.8 treed acres. Huge healthy spruce trees shield you from your neighbors. Relax in the private hot tub in an attached enclosed atrium, while listening to the adjacent stream. A sunny west facing aspect with views of Mount Helen and the backside of Peak 10.
Dog's are welcome with pre-approval; sorry no cats! I love them, but wife is allergic.
A mountain setting that's hard to find!
We really enjoyed our stay at Moose Lodge. Even though it rained every day we still had a great time. Would defiantly recommend it. I think for skiing this place would be an excellent location.
The beds were very comfortable and the place was pretty clean. Only negative comment is a lot of the furniture is worn out and old. We were not able to use the dinning room table because it was broken. The kitchen was very clean and in excellent condition. It was stocked well with utensils, pots & pans, dishes and other items.
The deck and back yard are very relaxing and it is nice to sit outside on the deck when it was not raining. We brought our own chairs and lounge chairs for the deck, highly recommend that. The yard could use a little maintenance, everything was overgrown. It was very secluded. Creek runs about 12 feet off the deck. The yard was fenced in so the dogs were able to roam around.
The two car garage was a nice item to have with all the rain. It gave us a place to stage out gear for the days activities, biking, climbing 14ers, lake hikes, rock climbing, ect. Really Great MTN biking trails within a few 100' of the house. Being on the south side of Breckenridge it was a lot less crowded there and easier to get to town and back. The trail head for Mt Quandary was only 10 minutes away.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Moose Lodge and would recommend it. Out side of some minor upkeep the place was in great condition, clean and comfortable.
This was our second mini vacation at Moose Landing. We first stayed here two years ago and loved it so much we decided to try it again this June. We were not disappointed. For us, this is a little slice of heaven. The house is lovely- not fancy, but comfortable and has everything you need to just kick back and relax. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a lovely deck outside that beckons whenever you are at the house. The creek runs thru the property, so the sound of running water soothes as you enjoy your surroundings.
Moose landing is Dog friendly, which is a must for us when we travel to the mountains. The large yard is fenced in, so our pup could run freely without worry. As an aside, Breck is also very dog friendly.
Breckenridge is a 10 minute drive north from the house. The neighborhood is quiet. If you walk to the end of the street there is a trail you can take your dog on for an off leash walk, if you like.
We will be returning to Moose Landing again.
thanks for another great stay!!
This was just what we were looking for. Very close to town, very close to hiking, ride (road bikes) right out the door (a little non-pave to get to the road), trails to hike and walk the dogs without having to drive. The yard is "fenced-in" if you have good dogs. Its a wire fence and our dogs respected the boundary but the puppy needed a training opportunity to learn to honor the fence then respected it through the week. The burrowing ground squirrels kept their noses busy each morning.
HIGHLIGHTS: Moose tracks in the creek 6 feet from the patio. A lake trail to hike for short jaunts and a higher mountain trail a little higher. Quandry Peak trailhead is 3 miles South to bag a 14er (although not the prettiest 14er). Don't miss the Spruce Creek trailhead for awesome waterfalls (go W. on CO-800 from Goose Pasture Tarn).
Moose Landing is an ideal location for the adventurous type or those seeking solitude. Hiking w/ our Labs, cycling throughout Summit County or playing Tourist are all just minutes away or just outside the door. A refreshing brook accompanied our relaxing moments on the deck and our Labs enjoyed their sniffing sessions in/near the brook as well as the yard. Murray was attentive to any minor concerns we may have had. This well-maintained cabin has been our refuge from the TX heat. We have found it extremely challenging to leave.
Our stay at Moose Landing was memorable in so many ways. It is far enough from the town to hear yourself think. It is close enough to town to allow a full day of shopping, walking, and relaxing. The brook that runs beneath the deck had one little trout who courageously stayed while we were there. The accommodations in the cabin are more than luxurious - especially the deck where the wife could read and I could practice my guitar. I highly recommend "Moose Landing" to everyone! AND THE WEATHER!!!!
We stayed in the cabin for New Years and it was the perfect amount of space and comfort that we needed! The yard was fenced in so we could let the dog roam free and the hot tub was the perfect end to a long day of snowboarding. Thank you so much Murray for the hospitality and answering any questions I had during our stay.We have stayed in several places in Breck but this was by far the best yet.. Hoping to stay there again soon =)
3.5 Min from Breckenridge,Town and Ski Area; 90 Min from Dia. Only 10 minutes to Breckenridge; a little more to Summit County's other wonderful ski areas. Hiking, biking, X-C skiing and snowmobiling trails just up the road, in each direction.
