I have always lived near Lake Champlain and learned to swim in the cold mornings of the lake. I now have a place on the lake and I want to share it with others so they can make great memories as well.
Susan Jennings purchased this house in 2006
This is paradise, sitting on the deck and watching the sail boats go by and seeing blue herons on the beach. Or how about watching all the stars in the sky or fire works on the New York side several night during July 4th week. Also there is large yard for out side games. This place is a great place to call home away from home.
Aug 2016 2-week vacation at this very comfortable house was enjoyed by all. Great location on the water which was warm and a stone's throw from the house. Due to shallow water in the lake this summer, you had to walk out a bit to really swim - but that was very manageable. Need water shoes for shore and lake bottom. Great kayaking in any direction from the house/shore. Great bicycling in the area. House was larger and more spacious than indicated by the pictures (especially by the view from google maps / earth). Fun collections of antiques in the house. Nice big yard for lawn games. Great sun porch and deck for viewing magnificent sunsets over NY and gazing at the lake. Pretty quiet. Kitchen is very large - lots of counter space; little shy on plates & bowls but that never became a problem with the dishwasher available to you. Towels a-plenty. With 5 adults at any one time, we were very comfortable inside and out! Easy walk to the village store and easy drive to Rouse's Point (NY) or Swanton (VT) for major grocery shopping. Easy to get to points in VT for siteseeing and Canada is just up the road! Montreal is an hour north. Owner Sue is gracious and easy to work with.
Aug 2016 2-week vacation at this house - very comfortable and we really enjoyed our stay here. House is more spacious (especially master bedroom, kitchen, dining & living room) than pictures (especially Google maps earth view) would indicate. Modern, large kitchen - great cookware; little shy on ceramic plates, bowls, but with dishwasher, no problem!! Fantastic views of lake. Towels aplenty and two full baths - very comfortable w/ 5 adults (most we had at any one time ). Easy access to water - very shallow so you have to walk way out to actually swim (but this was a very dry summer and levels are down) but it's quite manageable (bring water shoes for beach and lake bottom). Nice fire-pit on beach. Great kayaking and lots of fine bicycling in the area; we brought our own but rentals are not hard to find. Easy walk to village store; easy drive to full grocery store either in NY or Swanton VT. 1 hr to Montreal. Nice sun porch and deck on the lakeside of the house for watching the water - beautiful sunsets over NY. Sue very gracious and easy to work with. Highly recommend!!
Everything in the house was just like the description. The waterfront is right in front of the house, so that was great. Susan (the homeowner) was very helpful and kind. This property is great for someone who loves fishing. All stores needed for home needs and groceries are close by. The location is a nice and quiet place.
My family has spent time these last two summers at this peaceful and quiet lakefront home. The sunsets are awesome and the home is so cozy that you don't want to leave, coffee in the morning on the back deck overlooking the lake. Can not wait to return this coming summer.
Alburgh provided the quiet escape on Lake Champlain that our little family needed! We stayed in Susan's adorable cottage for a week with our three children under 8 and our labradoodle. The pictures and descriptions are accurate, and linens and towels provided are a nice touch. The beach is a little rocky so be prepared with some water shoes, especially for the little ones--The sunsets really were AMAZING! The town is quiet, but we explored so much of the Lake Champlain Islands, Burlington, Shelburne, Mount Mansfield/Stowe, even a trip to the indoor water park and gondola at Jay Peak. This was a great vacation at a great price too. Thank you for everything!
