29 night stay

This was our worst experience during all our years of travelling. The bed was like a rock - the futon in the living room was so uncomfortable. The entrance in the front and one in back are in desperate need of painting and cleaning - it was a mess. When the owners kids came for two weeks the screaming and banging was unbearable for us. Trying to find parking was sometimes fine and other times impossible. The chairs are all metal and no comfort in this place at all. I got pneumonia the last day there - we needed to make a call and we asked the owner if he could make it for us - he refused - the most unaccommodating person! I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Owner's Response: I am extremely surprised by this review. I am also saddened that my guests felt that their experience was so poor. During the 29-day stay, none of the elements described here where mentioned to me, nor did they say so when they left and I asked them if they enjoyed their Montreal trip. I pride myself on being a good host, and making sure the guests have the best possible experience. If anything happens, I take immediate corrective actions. In over 4 years, I have never had such a situation, as shown by all the other reviews available for my rental on HomeAway (and there are more very positive reviews on other rental sites - available upon request). All the other reviews will completely contradict what is described here. However, I cannot leave this unanswered. So let me go over the one not addressed in other reviews. - Furniture: all is recent, good quality, and well maintained. My guests had obviously very specific needs, such as a super soft mattress that would not be suitable for most people. - Stairs: there were actually recently redone, so rather new. They are in natural wood (Cedar), were never painted and will not be painted. - Lack of assistance: They indeed asked me to phone a clinic for some appointment issue, because they thought they had to communicate in French (they did not speak that language). However, I told them that they could perfectly speak in English with the clinic, so we left it there. I did not realize they still wanted me to call the clinic on their behalf, something that is rather a private matter anyway. - Parking: As parking seemed to be a concern to them, as a courtesy I let them use my own private parking space. I parked my car most of the time on the street anyway, as it is actually easy, safe and free, and I find it more convenient. Again, I am very sorry that they felt that way. Unfortunately, there is nothing more that I could have done to make things good in their eyes. For future trips, I would certainly advise them to share in advance their very specific needs to the owner to make sure that they can be met.

Cozy and bright flat

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable and clean flat. Large sliding doors offers plenty of sunlight. We appreciated the washer/dryer and good size bathroom. Can do everything by foot and easy access to public transport. Owner is available and friendly. Would recommend it for short or longer stay.

Clean, well maintained basement apartment

  • 3 of 5

Clean, well maintained property. Close to bus line, but 20-30 minutes to metro. Owner attentive and helpful. Residential neighborhood lacking good restaurants/ atmosphere. Works well for short stays for sightseeing or longer stay for business.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write this positive review. We are glad you had a good stay and will be happy to see you again in the futur. Indeed, it is a quite residential neighborhood. Two commercial streets with shops and restaurants at 5 to 10 min walk, one North (Beaubien St), one South (Masson St).

Modern, quiet and cozy apartment

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of 4 (two young girls) and we stayed at this property for a week. The apartment is new and modern. The owner supplied everything from towels and iron to pots and pans, so you only need to pack clothes. We liked how quiet the street was, the ease of parking and how close we were to supermarkets and restaurants. The owner was very responsive, punctual and helpful. We couldn't ask for more.

During the visit, we didn't use public transportation but getting around with a car was very easy. We never had to drive for more than 20 minutes to any city attraction.

We would highly recommend this place to all and rent it again in the future.
