We stayed here recently (5 adults and 1 toddler) and it was great! The house was very big and we could have fit more people comfortably. We went to Santa's Village one day and Storyland the next. The house is about 2 minutes from Storyland and right next to the Glen Junction Restaurant. The house had 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and an amazing back yard! We made a fire in the fire pit both nights and although it was on a main road, it was quiet in the back yard. All linens were provided, which was great. The house is very old but has been updated. The only complaint was it was very dark (not a lot of overhead lights, pretty typical for an old home) but the decor was awesome! We loved looking at all the old/antique phones, typewriters, and other items that went with the house. Overall this was a great home with plenty of space in a great location. We'd definitely stay again!!
Bonus points for the pumpkin people display in front of the house! (Pumpkin Rain, so cute!)
Awesome place and great stay. Went during Columbus Day weekend and everything was great. Short drive to the outlets and Mount Washington. Everything was accessible and the accommodations were great for two families with three kids. Kitchen was perfect when trying to prepare meals and the kids running around. Kids ran in the back yard when we had some down time. Although positioned by the road, once inside and in the backyard, you forget about the road. The owners have a great setup. Would definitely book again and recommend to anyone looking for an awesome place to stay.
The first thing I have to say is that the location of this place for a vacation with kids is perfect. It's literally a short walk to Story Land and only a few miles from Attitash. It's right in the middle of the attractions of the southeastern part of the White Mountains. There's a grocery store and a restaurant right across the street. You really can't beat the location.
The house itself is a throwback. Cutesy memorabilia from when most people alive today weren't born (a pre-rotary telephone, ads from the 1950s, etc.) adorn the house and there are nice touches like that throughout. The patio is fantastic for grilling and the backyard is peaceful in spite of the house's location on a main road. The rooms are charming, though without a/c, the upstairs rooms were pretty hot even in relatively cool end-of-August NH temperatures (the upstairs rooms are 10-15 degrees warmer than outside and there's no cross-ventilation in any upstairs room) - though every room did come with fans. With highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s when we stayed, we were okay (if a little warm upstairs), but I don't think I'd risk the lack of a/c in July. With 5 queen beds and one sofa-bed, sleeping 12 here is a bit of a stretch, but it's doable. The kitchen appliances, by and large, are very good and the washer and dryer in the basement were nice to have.
For those of us used to 21st century conveniences, some of the idiosyncracies can be a bit annoying. Just to cite some examples: most outlets don't take three-pronged plugs and most lights in the house either are not toggled by wall switches or are operated by switches in counterintuitive places. There are also sharp edges and unexpected drops from room to room in some areas downstairs as well as a lack of a staircase railing that makes this a little less kid-friendly than ideal. Many of the windows are very old and not easy to operate.
All-in-all, I think this is a nice vacation home for up to about 9 people and it's very charming and in an excellent location. Just don't expect all the modern conveniences of a 21st century house.
Regarding attractions nearby, StoryLand was good for both the little kids and older kids (though perhaps not so much teens) and Attitash was amazing for everyone in the family.
very nice, clean and spacious antique house
good location, closed to grocery, story land, white mountain resort, outlets
Tim and Carol have a wonderful home, that is inviting to both children and adults. It is a perfect place for families to stay. It was mentioned before but the back patio is phenomenal. The house was immaculate, everything worked as it should, and we could not beat the location. Everything we wanted to do was close by, including Storyland, which we actually could have walked to. This was a perfect home for multiple families traveling together and we are so grateful to have found it.
Had a delightful one-night stay at this clean, charismatic home about that was perfect for our purpose of needing to be close enough to climb the Big Mountain. The outback covered patio is really useful, and the home has many little decorative elements that add a nice local flavor. Could be a bit noisy on a weekend night, with no a/c, but fans helpful and overall would recommend and return without hesitation.
