Great house for 10 guests!

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and well maintained. There were a few quirks but nothing that affected our trip. We drove over Hoosier Pass to snowboard each day and would highly recommend this place for folks that don't mind a 30 min - hour long drive. Great views and comfortable digs!

Looks good but not comfortable

  • 2 of 5

The house looks good from the outside and is clean on the inside. However, overall we would not recommend it.

The main issue we had was that the people sleeping in the basement rooms said it would get extremely hot at night and they had to open windows. My fiance and I stayed on the top floor and it was very cold. It seems the HVAC design is very poor. The provided electric heater did almost nothing.

The beds were very uncomfortable, the fitted sheet would snap loose as soon as you lay on it, and the bed frame was very squeaky. Some of the doors were very noisy as well so if you didn't wake up your partner from the squeaky bed, you sure would from opening the restroom door. A little WD-40 would remedy the situation.

The few TVs in the house did not work.

The house is not easy to access if it is snowing so if you are looking for a place to stay while skiing, try something closer and spend a little more. We had a 4x4 and an AWD vehicle and when it was snowing it was tricky going up the roads to the house specially since it was so dark on those roads.

Owner's Response: Hi Jose, We are sorry to hear that your stay fell short of expectations! We apologize that squeaky doors and bed frames negatively impacted your stay. The property is in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, and we do let guests know before their stay that vehicles with 4-wheel drive are necessary for mountain roads. We have shared your feedback with the homeowner, who will make any needed updates to the property. They are dedicated to the comfort of their guests, and appreciate your feedback for helping them provide an even better experience for future travelers! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, and we look forward to traveling with you again soon! Best, the Evolve Team

Nice Cabin but could use some attention.

  • 4 of 5

We really liked our stay here but there are a few concerns that we have . First thing is the trash situation. They pick up trash on Wednesday and we arrived on a Saturday so the trash cans were full and one did not have a lid so the trash was strung out along the road when we arrived. We put it back in and stacked some pine branches on it to try and keep the critters out. We found another trash can in the garage and it was full and had a broken lid. We set it out Wednesday morning and put the broken lid on it and stacked a couple rocks on it to keep out the animals and when we returned that evening the trash truck had come but the rocks were on the ground, the lid was gone. The trash can that had the branches on it was still full and the one that had the locking lid was empty. So the trash situation could be better. We ran out of toilet paper and had to get some more but that was not a bad issue. My daughter lost her ear ring and while looking for it we found a pair of women's thong panties behind a dresser and a pair of dirty socks under the bed. Cleaning needs to be addressed. Also, I spent an evening tightening up all the screws on the chairs in the basement because they wobbled so bad. I did not mind to much but I did feel like a janitor at times. All that being said we had a very good time though with the family. Did not let the small stuff get to us. All in all I would probably stay here again because it is beautiful! Just need to get a few things taken care of with the facility. Would I recommend this property, yes just because of the views and such. It's out away from things but if you don't mind traveling 15 minutes to an hour to get to places you will like it here. Pretty secluded area as well and a long road on dirt to get to this place. There is railing all around the back concrete patio and we spent a lot of time out there playing the corn ball toss game. We came back a couple of times and there were deer in the driveway and out back which was pretty cool. They left as soon as we got out of our vehicles. I would have rated this at a 5 had we not had the few things that I mentioned earlier but if taken care of this place would really be top notch! I did not contact anyone about the issues because I figured if they were mentioned here they would probably get addressed and it did not slow out vacation down one bit.

Thanks and have a blessed stay, Michael...

Spacious Remote Mountain Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we liked the house very much for a big group getaway weekend, and would definitely consider staying here again. Negatives: We did have problems with the temperature control and the electricity while we were there. The bedrooms on the second floor were freezing at night, while the bedrooms in the basement were saunas. The electricity went out on the top floor as well, leaving our guests to take showers and dress in the dark. The hot tub was over-filled, only allowing about 3 people in at one time before overflowing. It would have been nice to have dry firewood available, or recommended to bring some. Positives: Very, very spacious and everyone truly had their own area without feeling crowded. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the layout was logical. The views are unbeatable, it was truly magnificent to wake up and look outside through the floor-ceiling windows. Very reasonably priced!
