Venture Out Resort is a quiet little secret located just 20 miles from Key West, and is a water-lover’s dream! This 64-acre condominium resort was created to put the ocean right at your backdoor. We are located on Kemp Channel, which is one of the most accessible boating channels to both the beautiful back country, as well as a quick, ten-minute ride to the open Atlantic and it’s coral reefs, including the world-famous Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary
Venture Out is a gated community. There are an abundance of amenities, including an 80' olympic-sized, heated pool, which is located ocean-side, with separate kiddie pool; saltwater swimming/snorkeling area adjacent to the pool; and a newly remodeled bath house.
The marina has two boat ramps, a fuel dock, and a convenience store, which is open seven days a week. The store has everything from beer and wine, to bait, ice, fishing licenses, milk, bread, cheese, snacks, and more! There are two tennis courts, which are lighted at night, a Bocce ball court, basketball court, and shuffleboard area. The Recreation Hall has dart boards, a ping pong table, and a billiard table, as well as a self-checkout library.
There are non-denominational church services on Sunday, and pancake breakfasts on Saturday, with all of the pancakes you can eat, sausage, coffee and juice for an incredibly low price! The pavilion serves as a multi-purpose building, which has many activities including line dancing, bingo and movies!
There are nearby attractions, such as the Looe Key Reef, Old Town Key West, Bahia Honda State Park, the Dolphin Research Center, the National Key Deer Refuge and the Great White Heron National Wildlife Refuge, just to name a few.
Cudjoe Key is close to both Key West and Marathon in the section of the Florida Keys known as the Lower Keys. This provides easy access to events such as the offshore powerboat races, sailing regattas, fishing tournaments, Fantasy Fest, Star Party, and many more. The Lower Keys include well-known destinations such as Big Pine Key, Summerland, and Sugarloaf.
When I was a teenager I came to Key West with my parents in our families RV. I remember stopping at Venture Out they were just building it and we stopped to watch them cut the canals. Over the years we came to Venture Out and rented various units. Both of my sisters eventually purchased homes here and when I sold my home in CT I decided to buy here as well. I am originally from Long Island New York but currently live with my two sons in CT.
Robin purchased this house in 2012
This is a beautiful home with an amazing view and location. The boys and I spend all of our school vacations here where we enjoy the beautiful water of the island and take an easy drive into Key West for the fun! When you stay in Key West you tend to lose a sense of the natural beauty of the islands and the locals. When you stay too far up the islands the ride is too far to go into Key West and enjoy all the happenings. Venture Out on Cudjoe Key gives you just the right balance of both.
Venture Out resort is a wonderful place for kids and adults! My favorite thing to do is watch the boys fish while I lay on the couch! The boys have freedom to ride their bikes and go to the store for an ice cream. Real relaxation that you just can't get by staying at a hotel.
We just came back from spending four nights at this property. Overall the property was great, the view was amazing. The location was great since we had things we wanted to do all over the keys. My only real complaint was the people at the pool our last night there. We planed on spending several hours there in the evening but due to how they were acting our time was cut short.
Great place to stay! The unit was clean and very comfortable. The dock had a nice patio to sit on to relax! We always enjoy our stay at Venture Out!
We stayed at Robin's home for five nights in July. The views were beautiful, even when we were doing nothing but watching a movie on TV and eating popcorn. We had a lot of fun watching the boats come in at sunset and talking to the fisherman next door to see what they had caught. Some of their fish were amazing. The sunrises were beautiful.
It may sound silly, but it was so nice having a washer and dryer right there. We went home with very little laundry to do, and it made our arrival home so much easier. The home was very comfortable, with the exception of the bed. Robin, PLEASE replace that mattress!! It's creaky and needs help!!
This home is cheaper than staying in a hotel on Key West, and so much nicer. You have room to spread out, a kitchen, two bedrooms, a DVD player, and so much more. It may sound expensive at first, but when compared to other accomodations it is very reasonable. My husband gave me an enthusiastic two thumbs up for choosing this place, even though he was skeptical at first.
For beaches, I highly recommend Bahia Honda. It has one of the best (if not the best) beaches in America. It is absolutely breathtaking, and it is so much fun to either rent or buy snorkel equipment and snorkel right off of the beach. You can find some really neat things in just a few feet of crystal clear water. And for a romantic dinner try Latitudes in Key West. You take a ferry to get to it, but you can dine right on the beach. The food and service is incredible. DO, however, make reservations well before your visit because this place fills up FAST. Also, Blue Heaven in Key West has some great food in a really fun atmosphere. It's been there forever and we've eaten there a couple times during different visits. (Just some ideas that I don't think Robin mentions.)
We look forward to our next visit!!
The rental was very clean, well stocked with kitchen housewares and was very comfortable. Air-conditioning works well enough to make you cold! Lots of fans inside make things very nice and cool. Beautiful view! Lots of close, yummy places to eat and nearby stores for things you might need. We came all the way down from Georgia hoping to snorkel and enjoy the wildlife but the weather did not cooperate and it has rained every day! Tropical storm Colin made things difficult. However, it would have been much more depressing if the rental had not been so nice to stay in and watch daytime tv:) We would rent here again. Great rental, worth the money.
A clean, well-kept rental with a nice view of the water. Good shower, great kitchen/utensils, except could use a regular toaster instead of a toaster oven. Would have scored it a 5 except the master bedroom mattress was very uncomfortable. Otherwise, it's a very wonderful, relaxing place to stay for a vacation.
We stayed at "miles away" home over spring break and aboslutely loved our stay. The home is perfectly located on Cujoe key, close to Key west and away from all the more commercialized keys. The park the home is in, Venture Out, was a perfect stay. All the people in the park and at Venture out were super nice and very welcoming. Venture out has a great pool, a marina equipped with all the supplies you need and it is very quiet and safe.
Prior to our stay I contacted Robin with questions and she was great. She even aranged with her Aunt, who lives in the area, to recieve a package full of gear we wanted to ship down ahead of time.
One big highlight was that we caught more fish right off of the dock than we did at the seas. We caught snapper, grunts and even a couple barracuda right from the door of our rental home.
Great stay and would reccommend this one to anyone looking for a cost effective great area to stay in the keys.
We will go back someday.
