We, Ann and Bob, are two retired educators who like the outdoors as well as travel. We currently reside in Manchester, MI. Bob likes to fish and bike. We both like to cross country ski. This cabin fits all our needs. Since we will not be using it at various times we thought we would continue to rent it as the previous owners did.
Ann is a graduate of Mercy College and Bob graduated from MSU. We have traveled to Europe several times, South Africa in 2011, up the Rio Negro in 2010, New Zealand in 2013, Norway 2014, and have several other trips planned. This year, 2015, we went to Switzerland for 3 weeks of cross-country skiing. Our son lives in Kingston, NY and our daughter resides in N.C. at Chapel Hill. So we have to travel to see them too.

Bob Dunn purchased this chalet in 2012
Bob learned about the area by fishing out of Arcadia for salmon and steelhead fishing the Manistee River for the past 35 years. Being that we like to cross country ski we found Crystal Mt. area to accommodate our needs to be outside in the winter. This is an area we can go year around and enjoy our retirement.
After using a trailer for 5 years, we just decided it was time to buy a place that would meet our needs year around. We looked at many places and found one that was perfect for us. We did not need a big place, but wanted some place that was close to Lake Michigan to fish, available to be on the water in other locations, and ski in the winter. As people who know, the Fall is spectacular! To ride your bike in remote areas, up and down M 22, and just be outside at this time is wonderful.
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your cabin. You have been so kind and thoughtful to provide for everything! We really enjoyed riding our bikes at Frankfort and Suttons Bay.
You have a great place here, Thanks for sharing it with us!
Bob and Ann. Thank you for letting us stay at you Cabin March 11-13th 2016. Loved and dreaming of coming back to the cabin and the area. Had great time snow biking and snowboarding in Spring condition. Stayed for Spring Fling at Crystal Mountain. Also went north to St. Ambrose Cellars for taste of their award winning Meade.
This little Cabin has it all. Remote, off the highway - yet close too streams for fishing, areas for sledding, biking. Nice 2 car Garage for regular size cars - or storing your bikes, skis, and snowboards. Love the small cabin that has a great full sizekitchen, wonderful Screened in Porch, vaulted ceilingLiving Room, and loft room with two twin beds.
Beautiful bathroom with a larger shower - great water pressure.
Nice, separate Bedroom with a well appointed Queen Size Bed. Small work space between Living Room and Bedroom with Bose Wave Link radio. Apple AirPlay compatible. - big plus to play your music.
Living room with new Leather couch and Chair - very comfortable.
Wood burning stove in Living Room an added plus. After a long day outside.
Definitely would recommend this cabin to a family of four. Or for a couple trying to get away. No street lights. Beautiful tall pine trees surround house.

The cabin was great, we really enjoyed it. Really nice being that close to Crystal Mountain. Skiing was awesome.
We had one lunch and a dinner at Geno's. Got to meet him, really impressed with the food and service. The apple pie from Rosie's was really good as well.
This is a great cabin. It felt both spacious and cozy. There are other cabins close by but there is plenty of space between and lots of trees around which makes it feel private. Not much of anything in Thompsonville But Benzie, Bulah and Frankenmuth are all less than a half hour drive away and there's plenty to do in these towns. The owner, Bob, was great. Everything, as far as I could tell, was provided (Charcoal, soap, towels, dishes, etc). We hope to stay here again.
What a lovely, charming little cabin. My wife and I stayed here for a weekend getaway for our anniversary, and while we originally had every moment of the trip planned, the coziness reeled us in and we could help but spend our mornings reading and sipping tea on the back porch and evenings cuddled on the couch next to the adorable wood stove and winding staircase. The only thing better than the cabin itself, was my interaction with the owner, Bob. From the minute I contacted him with a question about availability to the morning we were to arrive, he was a pleasure to work with. He responded quickly to questions and even helped with some local knowlege to suggest things to do in the area, and if that wasn't enough, we arrived to the cabin and found a small gift and card wishing us a happy anniversary. This will undoubtedly become a yearly trip for us, thank you so much, Bob!
We came up for a ski weekend and loved the location to the mountain. The cabin was perfect for a family of 4. The kids loved sleeping in the loft. Bob was great to work with. The cabin had everything you need to make the stay enjoyable. Already planning the return trip!
Very clean home. Very close to Crystal Mountain. Perfect for a family of four, but too tight for any additional guests. Very good customer service. Heard back from the owner quickly when I had questions. Kitchen well stocked with pans, plates, cooking utensils etc. Heater was a bit too loud for me in master bedroom. There was also a large temperature difference between front room/kitchen and master bedroom. Well stocked with blankets, pillows etc. very nice that we were able to park in the garage.
The rental is within a 40 minute drive to Traverse City. There are several other golf courses besides Crystal Mt. in the area. The biking can vary from easy to M 22. Those that are in training for triathlons or trips have used M22 for training. Access to Lake Michigan for fishing is within a half hour drive. The town of Arcadia has a marina and great information on salmon fishing. Kayak/Canoeing on the Betsie River is within a 1/2 mile.
