Owner on site.
Doug Beal, Jr. a 5th generation, lived in Southwest Harbor his whole life. He and his wife, Vicki, owned a Marine Conctruction and Diving Business for 41 years. They decided to start a retirement business, so, they began building seasonal rental cottages. Doug completed 3 of them before he passed away in the summer 2015 ( Homeaway #956783 and #3498716 ). Vicki is carrying on the business that she and Doug started, together.
The three cottages can house 19 happy vacationers, (for a group looking to vacation, together), or rent one for a family. Woodland Cottages I, II and III, all have great holiday appeal ~
Vicki Beal purchased this cottage in 2014
The property description was just as described on the VRBO property information page. It was home away from home. The cottage was very clean and well supplied with everything we needed. The owner (Vicki) was attentive if needed and very easy to contact. I would highly recommend the cottage to family and friends alike. We spent most of out time in park (ANP) during the day and did most of our cooking at the cottage so we didn't eat out much, but we did eat breakfast at Testa's on main street Bar Harbor a few mornings which was very good (5 stars). Pancakes and maple syrup, yum!
If your planning your visit to (ANP), don't hesitate to book with Vicki Beal in Southwest Harbor, Property ID 3498723. You will not be disappointed.
What a great cabin! Vicki was very nice and communicative. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed, including the most important: coffee. Very clean and well-maintained. We liked that it was slightly off the beaten path, but still walking distance to restaurants and the marina. We would definitely stay again and recommend it!
The house is in a very convenient location if choosing Southwest Harbor location. It was clean, uncluttered and had everything we needed for a week. Vicki was extremely responsive in all communications leading up to our stay, which was much appreciated. The house was close to town, but was quiet due to location within trees and with reasonable distance to other homes. The back deck is large and a great star viewing site. Overall, a nice choice for visitors that spend a good balance of time out with a home base to return to in evening.
Excellent property - walking distance to the center of Southwest Harbor but out of the way enough to feel far from the city, and when you sit on the deck, all you see is the woods behind the house. It's just down the hill and about five minutes on foot to several local restaurants, the ice cream shop (which also sells some take-out food), and a small (though definitely a bit pricey) grocery with a decent wine selection for a small town. It is only a few minutes driving distance to Long Pond (kayak rentals, or bring your own) & Echo Lake and easy enough to drive about 20 minutes to Bar Harbor and the rest of Acadia. Anything you can't find in Southwest Harbor, you can find in Bar Harbor. There is a bigger grocery store about 3 miles away, on the edge of SW Harbor, and an even bigger one in BH.
Nice house with two beds (one in a loft, one in the basement), a full washer and dryer, a love seat in the living room that feels like it is in a separate nook even though it is right next to the sofa, full kitchen and bath, etc. Lots of windows for light & air circulation. Vicki (the owner) supplied the basics, and with a couple of stops at the grocery store, we were set for the week. Our dogs loved it too. The owner lives right around the back, and is around if you need something or have questions, but leaves you alone so that you can enjoy the quiet you came up for! She is very friendly.
Would definitely return and/or recommend.
This was a nice cottage, we enjoyed our visit. Cottage is located not far from Bar Harbor and several entrances to Acadia National Park. Was a plus to have the kitchen and stove, saved some money by cooking some meals there, instead of having to eat out all the time.
Nice setting out the back of the cottage from the deck, saw several deer.
Would come back again
The cottage was just what I needed for my stay in southwest harbor.
I traveled alone with my Labrador & needed a place that would be pet friendly which it was.
There were plenty of amenities including a stocked kitchen & lots of towels & toilet paper in the bathroom.
Loved the deck.
The owner Vicki was friendly, approachable & available to answer any questions about the area.
I had a very pleasant stay.
The only thing I would point out to anyone bringing their dog is that the grounds around the cottage does not have grass.
