Daniel & Gina, our caretakers, will be happy to help you with everything you'll need: from getting freshly baked bread for your breakfast, to set the umbrellas and chairs on the beach when you need them. Gina is a big fan of cooking, and she will be happy to prepare the local dishes or if you prefer, a more elaborated menu. BBQ nights are always a lot of fun, tell her your preferences, seafood or meat, and sit back and enjoy. There is no extra fee for their services, however gratuities are encouraged.

About Gisella Coello Behr
I grew up in Guayaquil and most of my childhood I vacationed by the coast. My family and I love to have company and this made us want to exceed always as good hosts. I studied hotel management in Switzerland and I love to show foreigners the beauty of my country. Welcome to Ecuador!
Gisella Coello Behr purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Gisella Coello Behr chose Santa Elena Province
My family purchased this house because it's unique location. The whole area enjoys an extensive 12-mile beach with very little access to the public. We are very lucky to be able to have unobstructed views and direct access to the beach. The life this region of Ecuador offers is very rural and people is well known for its laid back and compliance attitude.
What makes this Villa unique
Beautiful view, extensive gardens, exterior swimming pool & hot tub, direct access to the beach, low traffic beach, close rainforest of 'Cinco Cerros'

We cried when we left
I would come back to Ecuador and to this house! We had an amazing time with our two young children. Being directly on the beach takes leisure to a whole other level and we are ruined for "near the beach" forever. For the most part we had the beach to ourselves and it was sandy and beautiful, with lots of cool pebbles, fish, crabs, snails and other fun stuff for us to discover.
The highlights of the house are:
-beautiful, large porch with dining and living area so most of your living is done outdoors
-nice, big bedrooms with 4 bathrooms
-balcony with lots of seating
-perfect view of the most stunning sunsets - being this close to the equator makes sunsets next level
-Gina and Danny are AMAZING and took care of anything we needed
-5 min taxi ($2) to Olon and 10 min taxi ($4) to Montanita
-Gisella was helpful and best contacted through WhatsApp
Life was idyllic for a month. April is a great time to go as the weather is absolutely perfect. The last few days of April and first day in May things started to become sauna-like as the cloud cover rolled in and the humidity started to rise. We would like to visit in August/September next time for whale watching as we were out of season for that on this visit. We took a day trip to Isla de la Plata and saw lots of huge sea turtles, amazing Blue-Footed Boobies and other birds, and we also ended up seeing a few whales and manta rays, which was an unexpected treat.
We found Ecuadorians to be very friendly and warm and from what we've seen the country is just beautiful.
We also stayed at Nazu House B&B in Guayaquil for one night before flying out and it was beyond stunning. We could have stayed there for a week!
My only advice with regards to travel would be to avoid any stops through Miami airport (it's called MIA for a reason). They seem unable to get passengers through efficiently. We travel often and this is by far the worst airport I have had the displeasure of connecting through.
To finish on a positive note, we cried when we left, we cried when we got home and will DEFINITELY be returning to Ecuador again. All of us left little pieces of our hearts there.
Great house, location, staff!
This house has an excellent layout--beach, yard, pool, covered patio, living room all in one sight line--which makes it very easy to keep an eye on kids. The beach was great: quite lightly used (even at Christmas time), gets deeper slowly, no nasty rip currents. Its only flaw is that there are occasional sharp rock outcrops. I would recommend wearing beach shoes so your feet don't get cut. There are occasional merchants on the beach (selling fish or ice cream) but they are not persistent or obnoxious. The pool is great and the hot-tub soothing. The rooms are fine--upstairs there are two large bedrooms with great views of the beach, downstairs the rooms are at the back of the house (because the living room is all windows on the beach), but the downstairs rooms are fine. The house amenities (internet, fridge etc) all worked well and the property is very safe (nothing we left out accidentally overnight was touched). The staff are friendly and helpful but not omnipresent. Gina is really a good cook. Contacting Gisella (the owner) can be a little challenging as her internet access is spotty, but in a pinch you can get a message to her by contacting nazuhouse.com which is a B&B in Guayaquil run by her family. Overall, a wonderful house where our family of three generations had a lovely stay. There are great things to do in the area, but hanging around the house is delightful too. Highly recommend this place!
Beautiful spot, great caretakers, disappointed with the house
It was about 2-1/2 hours from the airport in Guayaquil. The driver Eugenio that they recommended was great, he stopped at a grocery store in Guayaquil for us, which was really nice. It was amazing to be right on the beach, with our own private pool and hot tub. We almost had the whole beach to ourselves. Once in a while someone would go by selling fresh fish or ice-cream. There was some nice outdoor furniture, but lots of missing and broken tiles in the pool/hot tub area. Our hosts Gina and Daniel were great. Gina cooked for us three times. She made amazing ceviche, shrimp and fish on the bbq and chicken, with potatoes, rice, plantains, salad, etc. We just gave her the money for the groceries the night before the meal. It was so nice to have the fresh, delicious food and not have to cook for ourselves! They also bought us fresh, delicious buns from the bakery each morning, enough to have for breakfast and lunch. Daniel was very helpful, he took my husband down the beach on his quad to rent a surfboard for my son, he had the hot tub nice and hot every evening, and when the lights in our bedroom wouldn't work he got an electrician there right away to fix the problem. They also helped us with catching the local bus to Montanita and Puerto Lopez. I was shocked at the condition of the house when we first walked in. It was quite run-down. The kitchen appliances worked and were clean, but beat up looking with several marks and dents. The counters were very old chipped tile. The cupboards were old as well. More chipped, broken and missing tiles in the bathrooms. Two of the bathrooms looked like they had been renovated sometime in the not-too-distant past. The master bath was really old, with an old stained and scratched jacuzzi tub and lots of broken tiles. The master bedroom had a saggy ceiling with some pot lights hanging down a bit. There were two dirty old (used to be white) sofas in the main area that they covered with pretty blankets. The beds were all good and comfortable. Basically, the overall impression of the house was not good. I was very surprised, because of all the great reviews. We settled in and had a great time anyway! We took the bus to Puerto Lopez and took a boat trip out to Isla de la Plata, with whale watching along the way. It was great. We saw a lot of whales, turtles and blue-footed boobies! We spent 2 days enjoying the pool and the beach. It could be an amazing property with a renovation!!
We wanted to visit the coast of Ecuador and this house was the perfect place. We loved the jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. Best of all we loved that you could step off the porch directly into the ocean or the beach (depending on the tide). From the beach you can walk 20min or so along the beach to one of 2 different small towns and enjoy the local flair. We also grabbed a bus to Montañita to have some coctails and sea food, when we had our fill of the party atmosphere we took a very short taxi ride back to our relaxing stay. We loved the variety the location of this house provided, not to mention the staff was extremely helpful and so nice!
Wow You Can't Get Any Better Than This
I am amazed at the service from this beautiful home. Gisella was absolutely fantastic she met us at our hotel upon arriving into grayquill took us to pick up our rental car and brought us to the grocery store. She was truly a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Upon arrival to this property just started perfect and just kept getting better. Daniel and Gina and their entire family are just beautiful people. The home was clean and very well maintained each and every day. Daniel was there to get just about anything at any time of day for us. He even went to the pharmacy to get me cold medicine. Gina and her children have a heart of gold we even had the chance to teach their little boy to count in english. We spent every wonderful day enjoying the amenities of the house the hot tub at night under the stars, the pool the ocean where simply perfect. It was a majestic experience. I still stay in contact with a couple of their children via email to check to see how everyone is doing. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. We hope to visit again.

Perfect location, fantastic beach, beautiful property
2 adult couples...needing a rest after a back country tour of Ecuador, and this house was exactly what we needed.
4 full bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms with the most amazing outdoor patio. Other reviewers have mentioned the patio as a highlight and they are absolutely right as it is stunning and perfectly placed to keep the sun and wind out, but allow postcard views of the pool and beach. The beach is smooth, shallow, warm, and virtually rock free for miles. Swim, boogie board or just relax with a spectacular view.
The caretakers are wonderful, caring and hard working...they live behind the house but always allowing full privacy. They are ready to take care of your needs anytime, with a smile. Gina is an outstanding cook so be sure to work with her to plan delicious and healthy meals. We recommend her Camarones Panados or her cilantro chicken. Her husband Daniel maintains the grounds with excellence, and booked taxis and truly local tours for us. He even waited up until midnight to ensure our companions left on time, safely. Amazing people! The house cant be more perfectly situated. Hire a local taxi for the day (80$) and go tour Montecristi (true Panama Hats and the Civic Centre)...then Manta...stop at Santa Marianita for seafood by the beach...Puerto Lopez (absolute must - the day tour to Isla de la Plata...)
Book surfing lessons in Montanita...then party gently or hard in the bars. Lots of choices.
Note - get all you preferred and basic groceries and toileteries before you arrive...but let Daniel get you langoustine, shrimp...and fresh fish as well as fruits and vegetables daily.
Maritza, Pedro, Gisella...thank you....we will be back, hopefully soon!
Thank you very much for your feedback Darrin, Julie, Nathalie & Craig!
We are very pleased to hear about your amazing time in the coast of Ecuador and how well you felt in our beach rental. I will pass on your comments to Gina & Daniel, I am sure they will be very happy to hear your appreciation for their efforts.
Thanks for all the tips you are leaving for the future guests ;) It was our pleasure to welcome you in our place!
Right in the middle of 'Ruta del Spondylus'. This is a perfect spot where you can enjoy the rural life of beach and mountain. We can arrange tours to the many national parks and reserves of the area. During the July-September period it's a must to go and see the humpback whales swim up the coast and we can help you arranging this too. Montañita is only 10 minutes away, world known surfing destination offering great variety of restaurants, outdoors activities, nightlife, among other things.
