The mountain log cabin is a beautiful retreat. From the deep porch, you have spectacular long range mountain views and can watch the sunrise with a mug of coffee. It's in a wooded, peaceful setting surrounded by nature, yet close to nearby activities and shopping. This is a one bedroom, one bath, cozy cabin. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans, dishware (etc). A fire pit and year round hot tub adds to the comfort of your retreat. The comfy bed has ultra-soft linens and towels, and the cabin has plush robes for your nights in front of the fire pit or after a nice soak in the hot tub. We also have Roku, free Netflix, a DVR and a radio/CD player and wireless internet for your enjoyment. Sit on your porch and listen to the sounds of nature, watch the wildlife, or see the beauty of the mountains change color throughout the day. In the evening, you will spot rabbits, turkeys and ground hogs, as well as the fireflies dancing in the grass. Enjoy the onset of dusk with a glass of wine in front of a crackling fire. We are pet friendly and have trails on the property for walking your furry friend. Let the Dream Cabin and it's private, peaceful setting rejuvenate you.

About Judy Howell
John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in Maggie Valley. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.
Judy Howell purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Judy Howell chose Maggie Valley
This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family for a hundred years until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by meadows and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.
What makes this Cabin unique
From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa, and gaze at the mist in the meadows or the spectacular views of the mountains. Listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess is to be enjoyed by couples, honeymooners, or folks looking to get away. The bedroom is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has Roku TV, free Netflix and wireless internet for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. There are streams on the property, and we keep chickens and bees and raise our own produce. The property will delight you and renew your spirit.

Amazing Stay! Already recommended to a friend
This was one of the best stays ive had at a vacation rental. It comes exactly as advertised and there are plenty of personal touches added to the stay to make it even better. I was very pleased, the owners definitely take care of you and make the stay feel like a private get away. After the stay I recommended this to a friend within a few hours of leaving.
Thanks for staying with us and for the referral. Word of mouth is our best advertisement. We give discounts to repeat guests also, so come back soon!
Private, cozy & well equipped cabin in the woods
Wonderful little gem in the woods. This cabin has everything to provide quiet weekend escape in the woods. Owners have anticipated your every need from wood & fire starter for campfire to hot tub bathrobes to farm fresh eggs. Private mountain locale with easy access and perfect location. Definitely worth a repeat stay.
Loved "Dream Cabin"! We didn't want to leave!
Where do I start? The owners supplied everything you could ever need, and even more!
*The cabin was super clean!
*My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by a fresh dozen of eggs in the frig with a sweet note and pic of one of "the girls" (aka chickens). Eggs were delicious!
*Coffee, tea, and sugar supplied.
*Loved the nice big mugs for coffee, and the coffee maker with the insulated carafe, which you can take outside on the front porch and relish in the beauty of the morning and listen to the birds waking up.
*Loved the king-size bed, which was very comfortable!
*The electric fireplace on the bedroom will warm up the room in no time!
*The robes were extremely thoughtful and handy for a quick jaunt to and from the hot tub.
*There were plenty of towels, and the owners even supplied small bottles of shampoo, conditioner, face/shower soap, shower caps, and even a shoe shine packet!
*Plenty of cookware and utensils to cook a meal if so desired.
*The ice maker worked great. Produced ice quickly.
*Hot tub was super clean and awesome! I don't know if it was the well water, but our skin felt so soft after being in the hot tub.
*I'm thinking there is well water for the entire cabin because my hair felt so soft after washing, and the water directly from the faucet tasted great! No aftertaste at all.
*Peaceful location and nice mountain views from the hot tub and front porch.
*The owners had a book full of information about the cabin, local eateries, and activities. They also had lots of brochures/pamphlets of the area. (We took advantage of the spring rains and hiked to multiple waterfalls in Pisgah Forest. Highly recommend!)
*Plenty of firewood for the fire pit!!! I have never stayed anywhere where they supplied firewood! (If you used up the wood, they will refill for a small charge, which would be a bargain!) Plus, a jar of homemade "fire starters", which was so clever and worked great!
*The hammock was a treat to lay in at night and soak in the beauty of the stars glistening above. (I now want a hammock at my home!)
*Plenty of comfy seating on the front porch.
*The cabin is pet friendly!!!! Love the owners for allowing our sweet Maggie to be with us. Maggie loved the cabin just as much as us!
Many thanks to the owners for sharing their wonderful cabin with us, and helping us create special memories!
This was our second time staying at the Dream Cabin. It was just as enjoyable as the first.
We are so charmed by this cabin. It was everything we could have hoped for our vacation. We really needed a place to go to just unwind and relax, and this cabin was the perfect thing. The hot tub was steaming when we arrived, and it was ready for a soak after our long drive. The cabin decor is sweet and personal and reflects the owners passions...beekeeping, chicken keeping, the farm and antiques. The bed is amazing and we loved the front porch for rocking and having a lovely glass of wine. You must come here...because once you do you will come back again and again. We're already planning our next visit!
Best vacation EVER!
This has to be the best vacation we have shared throughout our 30 years of marriage, and we have been many places in the world...there's just something so simple and beautiful about this dream cabin. The sound of quiet, the colors of the sky, mountains in the distance, and not to mention the hot tub (oh, the hot tub!). You are surrounded by privacy and nature, chickens too, yet town is a short five minutes away. Thank you for everything.
We used to love Asheville, but it has gotten so crowded and commercial. There is no parking and the one-way streets are hard to navigate. Only 15 miles away, we found the perfect area of Waynesville. It has the same type shops and restaurants with easier parking. I found an excellent shooting range nearby and lots of great mountain views. It's near the interstate and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We also found many good pottery places, wood working shops, and a moonshine distillery in nearby Maggie Valley (root beer flavor is the best). What more can a person want! The owners were very private, but attentive to our needs. We couldn't think of anything that the cabin didn't provide. This was a ten star adventure. We will be back! Barbara and Houndog.
Close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, historic Waynesville, Maggie Valley and Cherokee. Great fishing and hiking, and skiing in the winter.
