Studio, 1 Bath, Sleeps 4

DESCRIPTION:

The Bird’s Nest studio apartment is a great escape in the heart of one of Washington, DC's loveliest neighborhoods: the Palisades Village. You can view some of our other studios and homes for stays from 4 nights up to 8 months; see HomeAway # 914007, 3495967, 3495973, 3495995, 3495973, 3496279, 3496282, 3496283 and 3496278 for details. Our latest addition are vacation properties for Washingtonians. See the Washington Vacations section on our website for homes in the nearby mountains. Take a few days away from the bustle of the city to explore our bucolic countryside little changed over the past 2 to 3 centuries. Visit wineries and orchards, significant Civil War battlefields and historic towns, hike the Apalachian Trail or follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers by visiting their homes. There is plenty to do that beckons you to leave the city for a weekend or a week.

A bit about me...I am a former Californian who, after 12 years in DC, is now an honorary Washington native. Being well traveled both domestically and internationally has given me a great appreciation for the enrichment contact with others brings to our experience. I am well-versed on the 'must-see' sights, monuments and museums of our culturally rich city, along with the unique experiences your find only in Washington. We share that insight with our guests in our property Welcome Guides which we send upon confirmation.

We very much enjoy hosting visitors to our Nation's Capital and ensuring that they are able to make the most of their visit.

The key was right there in the box; we moved right in! comfortable, quiet,well-equipped, soft beds. We quickly discovered www.buseta and so, always knew when our bus was coming. We love using public transportation, so it added to the sense of adventure. This was our first trip to DC. It was awesome. Our hosts were great! Highly recommend it!! Thanks!

I was traveling with my teenager to visit DC colleges. The room was perfect for us. The neighborhood was beautiful and felt safe for walking to dinner and back. A reserved parking space was great. We wish we had a couple of extra days to bike and walk the nearby trails.

The Nest is a wonderful place to stay if your visiting DC. The location was ideal just a few minutes to Georgetown and the Capital made it easy for us to enjoy the town and get to our meetings. Morning coffee was just a half a block away and the local eating was very good. The room was cozy and clean with a nice outdoor deck to sit and relax in the evening. The host made us feel at home, made our arrival easy and provided some great info on local attractions. We look forward to visiting DC again soon and will definitely stay here.

Reviewer Comments:

The family stayed in Washington for 5 days being tourists and viewing this great city. Using the birds nest was a great experience for us. It had a Starbucks 50 metres away so breakfast was covered and the Bus service into Central Washington was every 30 minutes. If you want central City apartment, then this is not for you. this clean, small but excellently appointed apartment puts you into the outer Washington community but you get quiet streets, community feel at any of the 5 restaurants within 100 metres and after 3 days the Baristas know what your favourite coffee is as you walk through the door. Birds nest is managed by responsive owner Matthias and makes for a wonderful base for exploring Washington as anything except a tourist. Our best find was to take the 20 minutes’ walk to The Boathouse at Fletcher's Cove and hire a bike and take a few hours riding alongside the river into Georgetown for lunch.
