REVIEW:

Irene and Jay – “The DuPont Circle Retreat is exactly that! A wonderful retreat! One evening after walking miles, we were so hungry that we got Pizza from the place on P Street, got some beverages at a grocery on P Street, and walked the 1/2 block to the apartment and had the best relaxing dinner on the patio. We left on an adventure every day. The Metro was easy to navigate, but frequently we just walked the entire way to our Smithsonian... the Kennedy Center... We felt comfortable and safe everywhere we went within miles of DuPont Circle. A wonderful stay, thank you! Charlotte was wonderful and extremely helpful via email prior to our stay, and our stay went smoothly. I would definitely stay here again, as the location was wonderful. The apartment was clean and comfortable.”

Our latest addition are vacation properties for Washingtonians. See the Washington Vacations section on our website for homes in the nearby mountains. Take a few days away from the bustle of the city to explore our bucolic countryside little changed over the past 2 to 3 centuries. Visit wineries and orchards, significant Civil War battlefields and historic towns, hike the Apalachian Trail or follow in the footsteps of our founding fathers by visiting their homes. There is plenty to do that beckons you to leave the city for a weekend or a week.

A bit about me...I am a former Californian who, after 12 years in DC, is now an honorary Washington native. Being well traveled both domestically and internationally has given me a great appreciation for the enrichment contact with others brings to our experience. I am well-versed on the 'must-see' sights, monuments and museums of our culturally rich city, along with the unique experiences your find only in Washington. We share that insight with our guests in our property Welcome Guides which we send upon confirmation.

We very much enjoy hosting visitors to our Nation's Capital and ensuring that they are able to make the most of their visit.

Reviewer Comments:

We loved the neighborhood and location of the two bedroom apartment. We got to experience how DC locals live and commute. The apartment was two blocks away from a park, Starbucks, grocery store, various ethnic restaurants (Italian/pizza, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, etc). More importantly only 2-3 blocks away from DuPont Circle and metro station. Apartment was clean and having our own washer and dryer was very convenient. All the conveniences made our trip enjoyable. We'll be back again.

From the quiet tree-lined street to the exposed brick wall in the back bedroom, this rental is a find. Outdoor patio is a plus for morning coffee. Very walkable to coffee houses, restaurants, parks, and the metro.

Reviewer Comments:

The neighborhood is nice but we didn't enjoy the accommodations. We saw a rat on the street the first night and then five minutes later, food was in front of our door which hadn't been there before. All the trash for the building is kept in front of this unit. After that, our ok space was made worse. The quality of furniture and amenities were not nice or comfortable. It was clean but not nice.

Reviewer Comments:

we made the mistake of arriving tired late on a Saturday thinking we could go to bed and rest only to learn that there was no complimentary coffee, cream, filters or sweetener so I hoofed back up two blocks to the CVS and bought those essentials that would have been standard in any cheap hotel room. Imagine my surprise the next morning to learn that there was no soap to shower with (I had my choice of my shampoo that I brought or antibacterial hand soap). I was even more surprised to learn that we had a half a roll of toilet paper and no Kleenex or paper towels. I heard the person (people) upstairs at their every move as the floor above squeaked with every step that they took. We had great difficulty re-setting the code on the door lock and later learned that when we used our installed code that we had to enter our code and then hit Schalge to have it open the lock. I am six feet tall the exact height of the ceiling in front of the bathroom sink. The bed that I slept in was reasonably comfortable but smelled of body odor the first night making me wonder if the sheets had been changed. Fortunately there is a washer and dryer.

This apartment is in a great location in Dupont Circle. The metro is within a few blocks and is close to a grocery store, just a block away. My daughter and I always had plenty of hot water and it was great to have a washer & dryer in the apartment. Our apartment was quite and we only heard the people in the apartment above us when they walked across the floor and that wasn't very often. The bed in the front bedroom is very comfortable and I slept good every night. The kitchen is well stocked with everything need to prepare a meal. I would definitly stay in the apartment again if I am ever back in the area.
