Enjoyable stay at the Quarterdeck in St George Bermuda
Enjoyed our stay in Bermuda at the Quarterdeck in St George Bermuda. Robert was responsive to all queries; the Quarterdeck is well located in St George - close to restaurants, grocery store and shopping, and easy access to bus transportation - and the place itself is spacious, well equipped, and fabulous view over the St George Harbour area. The only downer was the weather - a bit on the cool and windy side which limited our use of the pool and beach walking. Thanks, Bryan, Sue and family.
We booked this home after having to cancel our trip in the Carribean due to the hurricanes last year. After doing the research my adult children found Bermuda was Zika free and a potential vacation alternative. We found this home that would accomodate 6 Adults and had the ammenities we wanted. Being off season this trip had plusses and minuses. The weather is a bit cooler in winter, but still comfortable. Bars and restaurants near beaches and some water sports may be closed. What we did find was a small community, rich in history with nice resteraunts and very friendly people. The people we encountered were very helpful in teaching us about bus routes and points of interest.
As for the property, this home had what we wanted, great views, plenty of space for all of us and the extras of a pool and spa. The pool is solar heated so during January the best we could muster was about 70 degrees, we did manage to still enjoy it and found it very refreshing on a sunny 70+ degree day outside. You are in walking distance to groceries, liquor stores, shops and some nice resteraunts. The home was very comfortable and worked well for all 6 of us. Having a full kitchen plus outside grilling and dining area was a nice option for eating in at night.
Robert was very responsive to all our questions and very helpful. Suzanne did a great job greeting us and was also very helpful.
There is everything you need here to have a 5 star vacation. There is no need to stay anywhere else in St George. Awesome views, pool, hot tub, high end linens and appliances. Perfect location with walkability. Loved it and highly recommended.
Beautiful view, wonderful outdoor spaces!
Our group of 2 couples and one toddler really enjoyed our stay at the Quarterdeck. The view was amazing and we really appreciated all of the outdoor spaces (pool, hot tub, BBQ, balcony, patio tables). The kitchen was great too and we enjoyed eating a few meals at home.
The owner, Robert, told us ahead of time that the house is difficult to find and sent us a map to show the taxi driver from the airport. Unfortunately, our driver didn't read it properly and we still ended up driving in circles for a bit which increased the fare by about $10. I suggest contacting one of the taxi operators that Robert provides in the house manual (he sends it in advance via email) to schedule your airport pickup.
We loved the location in St. George (walking distance to town, restaurants, shops, grocery store, and bus stops), but St. George is a bit of a remote location if you don't plan to rent scooters. You can get around by bus, but pay attention to the schedule as some don't run very often or after a certain time of day. The ferry between St. George and Hamilton only runs in the summer (through end of October).
Wonderful house with great views!
7 of us stayed at this wonderful house in St George's. The views were spectacular and we used the pool day and night. The road to the house can be challenging for those new to using scooters but after the first day we loved scooting up the hill and felt like experts at the end of our stay. Walking into town is easy with and there is a shortcut up by the house. It takes 5 min or less to get to the city centre of St. George's. The buses were plentiful in town and there are taxis as well. We had such a great stay and would highly recommend this house. Thanks for your hospitality Robert!!!!
Located on a hillside in a very private neighborhood in a garden setting but within walking distance to the Town of St. George - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Besides exploring the local beaches and quaint streets of the old town a must do is to swim in the caves at Grotto Bay and the Blue Grotto your host can provide info on any specific activities you are looking to enjoy.
