This is a corner unit Villa with fantastic views of Sapphire Bay. The Villa can easily sleep 6. It has a King size bed and 2 pull out sofas. The first floor consists of the kitchen area, dining area with a table for four and entertainment are with a pull out sofa and flat scree TV. There is also a full bath. Finally, it has its own deck with patio furniture. The second floor has the king size bed and a pull out sofa. There is also a flat screen TV. The bath is full size with a bathtub. The second floor also enjoys its own deck with patio furniture.
The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots, pans and appliances so that you can cook in if you wish.
All linens are provided, including beach towels. We provide free beach chairs and there is some snorkel gear in the condo. If you need additional gear you can rent it from the dive shop located on the property.
Ok first the good actually very good: I think this unit is in the best possible location on the island down to the very building its in. IMO Sapphire beach is the best beach on the island I visited. While Magens is more well known, it gets crowded and I think the water on Sapphire is more turquoise. In addition because there is coral right off the shore, you have tropical fish right there near shore you can snorkel and see. You don't need a boat, just put your mask on, walk in the water, and you are good. Right there we saw dogfish sharks, beautiful fish, small stingrays, other people saw turtles etc. The A building this unit is in is the best one as its right on the center of the beach near the refreshment stand where you can get great drinks and some chips etc.
Red hook is a fantastic location itself as you are right there by the ferry to explore other islands, and it has some great restaurants and shops in addition. There are always cabs in the parking lot for convenience if you don't rent a car.
Great location, great beach, great building
Now the not so good: The unit itself needs renovation badly. Other than the new flat screen TV's on both floors, it all seems very old. The floors are stained, kitchen seems ancient, and I was concerned about the air conditioning vents as they were starting to look black. The filters need changing badly and I would check for air quality. Water pressure in toilets and showers is great though. Upstairs cedar cathedral ceiling is very nice. Outside deck furniture needs to be changed as it is discolored and I was concerned about mold
Overall I think the pros outweighed the cons with this unit and considering the price is fair for an on the beach condo, would definitely recommend.
We had no problems with our 4 day stay, It had all the necessities for our visit.
I would suggest that more bath towels be furnished since there is no laundry available to launder dirty ones.
The sleeper sofa is not designed for a comfortable sleep, the thin mattress does not keep one from feeling the wire springs.
The Sapphire Beach Resort has not spent much on renovations, Freshening up the whole complex is over due,
My 4 year old daughter, my husband and myself had a wonderful week on St Thomas! The condo has such breathtaking views and is located close to the best part of the beach for swimming. The condo is as described. The owner was very prompt in fixing an issue with the wifi, tanks again! We went to Virgin Gorda and St John on ferries conveniently located less then a mile down the road in Red Hook. Red Hook has a new food market that had everything we needed. There's also a new food truck at the top of the Sapphire beach entrance that had just opened the day we got there, great sandwiches! Lindquist beach is really close by and Magan's bay was a little further but worth the drive. Stunning! Sapphire beach itself was great and we saw sea turtles and rays and numerous beautiful fish when snorkeling right in front of the condo. We usually went to Red Hook for lunch and then had dinner on the deck of the condo and we really enjoyed that. Lovely to walk down to the marina after dinner and admire the different boats. Would easily come back every year! Thanks for everything!
This was a perfect choice for our family of five. The view is spectacular and exceeded our expectations. The owners are very friendly and responsive with clear directions for arrival and departure. The unit was just as we expected - a two-story corner unit with large balconies, two full baths, and a small kitchen. Bedding and towels (bath and beach) were clean and in good condition. (There were four beach towels provided; we brought two additional from home along with an old sheet to use at beaches we visited.) Wi-fi was easily accessible and worked well. Pool area is nice to sit around and pleasant for swimming (but pool bar was closed and appears to be in the process of updating). Tennis courts are in very bad condition so don't bother bringing rackets. There is not a fitness room on site (which we knew ahead of time, but would have liked). There was some snorkeling equipment in a storage area (appeared in fairly good condition, but we didn't use); we were glad we brought our own with carrying bags because we snorkeled a lot at many different beaches. A rental car is not essential, but we were thankful we had one - we explored different beaches and areas of the island and were able to go out to the grocery and dinner more easily. Moes Fresh Market in Redhook is close and has pretty much all the groceries you need (island prices, but not too bad). St Thomas recommended beaches for snorkeling: Sapphire (a few steps away - one of the best!), Secret Harbour Beach (very close by car; just past Redhook), Brewer's Beach (on the other end of the island by the University of the VI). It is worth driving up to the Mountain Top - touristy, but amazing views. Day trip to Water Island: Honeymoon Beach was beautiful and relaxing, fun and easy to get to (although have to go to marina near airport to find ferry). Day trip to St. Johns: An Absolute Must! Make sure your rental car agency allows you to take your vehicle (we highly recommend taking the car ferry - it is just so easy). Take enough cash to pay for an early morning car ferry and arrive at Trunk Bay before 9:00 AM, then explore other parts of the island. Hike to Leinster Point from Annaberg Sugar Mill for wonderful snorkeling and drive to the other side of the island to remote Salt Pond Bay (worth the drive; we saw sea turtles when snorkeling). Note when cruise ships are at the island; it does impact traffic and beach crowds. We highly recommend this VRBO and hope to return!
The room itself was really nice - a few problems just when we got there, but it was fixed almost immediately with an email to Gregg and Aimee. It was clean, and the view was amazing. The villa was roomy, and the balconies were great. All the people working around the resort were friendly. The whole resort area needs updating, though. There is a lot of construction going on, and certain building structures are closed and boarded up, which makes certain places of the Sapphire Beach Resort look unappealing. Once fixed, the resort would be amazing. Also, the greenery leading to the villas were dried out. But once you got to the beach right in front of the villa itself, it really was nice. It usually wasn't crowded, and the snorkeling was good. Communication with Gregg and Aimee was good. However, it takes a while to receive the $300 refundable deposit back. As of now, I have not received it back (it's been 10 days).
Spent 5 nights here from June 4-9, 2015. The views cannot be beaten anywhere...5+ stars. Gregg was very good with communication and details. The unit is older, but is in good condition and is very comfortable. Corner unit is great with the wraparound deck. There is some snorkeling equipment and floats in the unit, and the watersports hut is now open as well for renting more equipment. The resort buildings seem to be kept up, but you can see the wear of the years on the grounds (I can see this as a premier resort years ago, and a taxi driver confirmed this). Snorkeling is very good with lots of fish and coral right off the beach. Sea turtles and rays have also been sighted in the bay. Very "friendly" iguanas will walk right up to you on the beach and take your food...fun to watch! Security is present and will walk around the grounds. Taxis are waiting right under the trees in front ($4-5 per person to RedHook). You can catch the "safari bus" / trucks at the top of the hill and get to RedHook or Charlotte Amalie for $2 per person -- they're quite fun. Moe's Market in RedHook was recommended by Gregg and I second that -- very clean, organized like stores at home, good selection, and decent pricing for the island. Several good restaurants right in RedHook too. The Sapphire marina is within easy walking distance, basically on the grounds, and has charters and daysails (we did one on Nightwind and would highly recommend it, although most are highly rated on TripAdvisor). Be aware that you need to provide soap, shampoo, etc. Towels are provided and kitchen has pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, etc. Again, we loved it and plan to go back soon with our sons.
