After being in private hands for the past 34 years, we've recently bought this beautiful house for our family and hopefully yours too. We hope you find it as wonderful as us and appreciate the superb location, beautiful furniture and attention to details- this is a very unique property.
Located 2 miles from the center of Schull and just 3 miles from Ballydehob with Cork airport an hour's drive away, this cottage is ideally located.
The property is a traditional country cottage which has had a number of beautiful extensions added to it over the years combining the old with the new yet retaining the character of the old and enjoying the comforts of the new.
The entrance is built with traditional local stone leading in to a beautifully stocked pond with waterfall and a lovely south facing slate finished patio. The garden has a lovely flow to it with different natural levels laid out in a combination of lawn, a huge variety of shrubs, plants hedging nature trees and an additional south west facing patio area on the eastern side, perfect for relaxed summer evening BBQ and open-air dining.
The stone cottage consists of a large south facing conservatory, beautiful living room, fully fitted kitchen, dining room with access to west facing patio area, utility room / pantry, bathroom and a large ground floor master bedroom with stunning views and custom fireplaces. The 1st floor has 2 further bedrooms and a brand new bathroom.
Just came home from a wonderful week at this cottage and can not say enough about the quality of the cottage and the pristine condition it is in. The location is the perfect mix of tranquility and convenience being just a short drive to the lovely little town of Schull! Everything is of high quality in the cottage and it is easily the most well run property I have ever rented. There is nothing I would change about the cottage and I believe it would be hard to find another cottage in that area that could beat it.
We had an enjoyable stay, it is a comfortable house with country furnishings in a very quiet location. Not too far from Schull, we even walked it one morning.
Luckily our weather was good for the week, but if it was wet then there are plenty of places to sit and read a book or play a game or watch TV
We would suggest more glassware and the master bedroom looks a bit tired
Beautiful home in a lovely setting. We had good background information about the house, location and amenities. The owner answered all our queries promptly. The house is just wonderful...bright,comfortable,clean with lots of lovely areas for relaxing. We were sorry to leave and will certainly return. We would recommend this property highly to anyone who wants to stay in beautiful comfortable home in an idyllic setting. Dalys.
The description and photographs on the website of Derryconnell House are very accurate and the house is just gorgeous, unique, extremely well appointed, very clean and very comfortable. The house is very private and secluded and so creates a peaceful haven and yet is very close to Schull for all your necessary shopping and for wonderful restaurants. The house has a gorgeous sitting room as well as a wonderful large dining area in a conservatory just off the well equipped kitchen as well as a utility area, all of a very high standard. The bedrooms are all extremely comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated. The bathrooms are also very well appointed. The gardens are gorgeous and well kept and a pleasure to sit in with stunning, uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside. I would highly recommend this house as a fantastic place to stay while visiting Schull and the surrounding areas.
This house is located down a narrow lane with nice views of Mt Gabriel but not out towards the sea. It has a terrific new bathroom, excellent furnishings and plenty of space. Negatives would be that the central heating is not adequate (not enough radiators) if weather was very cold. Also a pity that all bedrooms are double beds - one with twin beds would be much better for families. The garden was obviously a labour of love for the original owners. But the current owners will need to look after them better or they will quickly look not nearly as good as in the photos.
Organisation of the booking was excellent and very good information provided. Bond is a bit hefty and bank fees in transfers add therefore to overall cost of the booking. But it was great to have heating and electricity included in the price.
We stayed here during the winter storms and although we were upset we couldn't enjoy the amazing scenery around the cottage we were very happy that we could take full advantage of the wonderful house itself. With three open fires blazing we thoroughly enjoyed lazing around and soaking up the atmosphere that this incredible property gives. We loved cooking in the cozy kitchen and the owners seem to have equipped it with every convenience. We particularly loved arriving on our first day to the smell of fresh baked bread made by the breadmaker! When the weather allowed we managed to find some great walks straight from the house itself, Mount Gabriel was a challenging walk but we made it all the way to the top! We'd thoroughly recommend this house to anyone looking for a perfect break in the winter or holiday in the Summer, we'll definitely be back!
