You cannot be more centrally located! About the apartment, the sleeping area has one double room with a Queen size bed and wardrobe space. In the kitchen you will find an oven, burners, toaster, coffee maker, fridge, etc. The living area is very comfortable, cosy and naturally fully furnished with a sofa, satellite TV, DVD, dining table and chairs,… Naturally it is fully air conditioned and heated. This is truly an exceptional property in the absolute best position possible!! To cover some basics - Yes, all linen, towels, cutlery, crockery etc are provided.
The neighbourhood of Gracia is just one stop up from the top of Passeig de Gracia but it feels like a whole different world. Gracia was an independent town until the late 19th century and even now the community is small and tight. The people are exceedingly proud of their roots, they don’t say they come from Barcelona, they say Gracia.
The area is popular with artists and a generally bohemian crowd.. Plaça de Sol is the most renowned area of the neighbourhood, it’s lined with terrace cafes. However despite the trendy nature of Gracia it is also a very traditional barrio with a large elderly population which makes for an amusing and odd mix - and very entertaining people-watching!
Fontana and Diagonal are the metro stops, and from there you can get into the centre of the city, Paseo de Gracia in less than 5 minutes walking and Plaza Catalunya in less than 20 minutes.
Gracia is totally self-sufficient. That is to say you could stay in Gracia and never have to leave, there are good amenities of every sort, great bars, cosy cafes, a real Mediterranean lifestyle. Whilst everything like the buildings, streets and plazas are in much smaller scale than those in the centre of town there is some striking art nouveau architecture to be seen.
The area is quite safe and it is also quiet. Is perfect for those who want something a little bit different, those who perhaps have been to Barcelona before and want a different tourist experience. Although really because central Barcelona is so easily accessible from Gracia it is suitable for everyone.
One of the best features of Gracia is that there are not so many tourists so you feel like you’ve discovered something a bit new and diverse. Shopping is also good in Gracia, where new, arty boutiques stand next to traditional Spanish stores.
If you're looking for a charming and safe place to stay, that's clean and convenient to several public transit options and many, many, many dining options this apartment is perfect. You can explore, AFFORDABLY, all of Barcelona with ease. This is not an exaggeration. The apartment is a walk-up, the mattress was comfortable, (and I have a sensitive back, so I found the mattress to be on the moderate firmness side), there is a full kitchen, and a bathroom with a stand-up shower. Dishes, glasses, cutlery, pots, and pans available. (The pans are old tephlon ones, so I picked up a ceramic pan for 9 euros. I just considered it a souvenir!) I'd recommend bringing your own travel iron. There's a front and back terrace, that makes a wonderful cross breeze in September. I think this apartment is perfect for two people who want to walk and explore all that Barcelona or use the subway/metro system to go farther. Most importantly the owner is EXTREMELY helpful. Great customer service and she provided a bunch of information that was useful for food shopping, sight seeing and really enjoying the neighborhood. I would rent this apartment again in a heart beat!!!
I put my parents up in this flat while they were visiting me. The hosts were very nice and had a great list of restaurants and bars to see. The location in on a quiet street only one block away from two of Gracia's best squares. Totally recommendable.
We are a couple who rented this apartment for 10 days.
The owners were very helpful in getting us this apartment, and answering questions before we arrived and while we were in town. They had ready a local area map with restaurants, supermarkets etc. mapped out. Everything you need is within 5 minutes walking distance!
The apartment is relatively simple, but efficient and clean. You can find much fancier and more expensive apartments, but for the price this is a great value. It has all the necessary equipment, incl. to cook. We cooked lunch one day and dinner one day, and we made our own breakfast every morning.
There are 3 nice squares with numerous bars, cafe's and restaurants within 1 - 5 minutes walk. It is a very nice, quiet, residential area with families, kids, retirees and feels very safe.
The streets are narrow, there is no through traffic, which makes this a relatively quiet location.
There are two metro stations within 5-7 minutes walking, from where you can get anywhere in Barcelona in 15-20 minutes.
We walked from the apartment to several places incl. Parc Guell, Sagrada Familia, the Pedrera, Francesc Macia.
And when you don't want to do much you walk 2 minutes around the block to Placa de la Vila de Cracia and sit down with a beer, wine or caffe Cortado!!
Highly recommended and we would rent this one again!
Our booking was easy and Joan and Elisabeth were very accommodating. My wife and I arrived after midnight and needed to check out the night before because our flight left in the early hours of the morning. They were helpful in making it a seamless experience. The apartment is in a great location for seeing Barcelona. It is a nice clean well cared for apartment. The washer/dryer was a nice bonus, as were the basic appliances in the kitchen. The refundable cash damage deposit was a bit of a hesitation at first but was not a concern in the end. We would definitely consider staying here again. Thanks Joan and Elisabeth for a nice welcome and worry free stay that allowed us to enjoy our trip.
Thank you Elizabeth and Joan! We had a great time in Barcelona and the apartment was just what we where looking for! You can't beat the price and location. The place is sparkling clean, everything is new. The washer washes and dries completely! Location is perfect, just couple of blocks from the main street in a good and quite neighborhood. There is a restaurant with great food and outside patio just around the block. We walked everywhere, neighborhood seemed to be very safe. We will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends. Thanks again!
Ideally located between 2 metro stations (fontana&diagonal) in the most authentic hood of Barcelona, near all cafés, bars, restaurants, etc, etc. Crystal clean !!!! Joan & Elizabeth are pretty cool and relax and give a list of good advise. For sure, i will return on my next trip to BCN !!! Thanks !
Barcelona is located on the Mediterranean coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs and is bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola ridge.
Founded as a Roman city, Barcelona became the capital of the Counts of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, it became one of the most important cities of the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination and has a rich cultural heritage. Particularly renowned are architectural works of Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner that have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city is well known in recent times for the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Barcelona enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The summer's season lasts about 6 months, from May to October, although also in November and April sometimes there are temperatures above 20 °C (68.0 °F). Winters are mild.
