James Davis purchased this house in 2007
The home was very functional and fully stocked with most household requirements. The house could use a little work but, the only thing really needed is a Moen 1225B cartridge in the tub/shower valve and maybe a head. If I return in the next few weeks I'll take care of that if owner is ok with it. Great time in Grants Pass once again.
As noted in other reviews, it lacks curb appeal.
But, once inside it is clean, open and comfortable. Amazing riverside views from the backyard and master bedroom. Good wifi.
They allow pets and the backyard is secure so they can play in the yard.
Would have given 5 stars if it was more updated.
I've wrestled with myself over this one -- should I really tell strangers about this great place when I really, really just want to have it all to myself? Kindness prevailed so here goes...
If you are really uncomfortable with slightly funky, with a tiny bit of deferred maintenance then this probably isn't your dream vacation home. If outside appearances matter more than substance you may want to think twice. Here's how the Rogue River Oasis works...
The first time you drive up you'll probably wonder if you've made a bad decision. The neighborhood isn't fancy, it faces a big road, and you can't see the river at all from the front of the property. When you open the front door you'll be really pleasantly surprised -- it's nice inside! The rooms are large and comfortable. If you've brought along a batch of kids they could easily sleep on the floor in the living room or master bedroom. When you finally venture to the back yard you'll be amazed at the beautiful view, yes right over the Rogue River. My companion and I spent hours in the back yard, deciding to do so sometimes when we had plans to do things in town.
The kitchen is well stocked, the bathroom is decently stocked, and there are no obvious "well, why don't they have one of these" items.
The owner was extremely easy to work with and I'll happily book this property again.
My only caution is this -- jumpy, bouncy dogs and small children should be watched carefully at all times when in the back yard. It's a somewhat short fence and a really long drop into the river. Be responsible for your small travel partners.
Have a great time in Grants Pass!
This property was only 1 of 2 homes in the area of Grants Pass. One would question the front of the house, but it's rewards are the absolutely stunning view and presence of the Rogue River through the bedrooms in the back. The owner went out of his way to decorate and provide so many helpful things in the house. It is super spacious. I want the layout for my own home.
The home advertises that it sleeps 6. With people who share beds, that would be true but we had 4 territorial teens. There is 1 queen, 1 standard and the hide-a-bed. We luckly were able to borrow an inflateable bed from a near by relative. This again is due to not everyone comfortable to be too close to one another.
...so wow though. Not what you think on the inside as out. Don't judge it by the neighborhood. It is able to lock tight and even had a garage you could stow your car in. Well worth the price. They give generously with every detail inside and you wouldn't believe how cozy it is. The house keepers are doing an excellent job to care for it for you.
We had such a great time when we stayed at the Rogue River Oasis during Memorial Day weekend. We really enjoyed the view and sound of the Rogue through the living room and bedroom windows. We cooked some great feasts in the nice size kitchen and just relaxing in the living room. James the owner was very easy to work with and Dan his property manager.
