About the property

Modern Studio w/ queen bed and pull-out couch, full bath & kitchen.

This is a private, well-appointed studio apt on the 3rd floor of an 1899 brownstone, only 20 minutes by train from Manhattan. The lovely, light-filled space offers an impressive mix of historic charm and modern design, Fully equipped with linens, dishes, and comfortable furnishings, this studio has been thoughtfully renovated. It has two large windows that overlook the back garden, as well as two skylights. It boasts an original decorative fireplace, restored wood floors, brand new appliances, and a modern marble & glass shower. Wi-fi and premium cable TV (with HBO) are included. Though cozy, it is well designed and is perfect for one person, a couple or two close friends. This Brooklyn neighborhood is charming and tree-lined, and the popular neighborhood cafe is a half-block away. Shopping, restaurants, and laundry are all within a short walking distance, and the subway station is a 5-min walk. A trip to Manhattan takes only 20 mins to downtown and 30 to Times Square.

Experience: We have been renting another studio in our home for over 3 years and have never had a bad experience. To read the many reviews about us and our house, please visit our other older Homeaway listing, #256524.

Convenient New York Location: Three blocks from A express to Manhattan (15 mins to Wall Street, 35 to Times Square), ½ block to grocery store and laundromat, one block from coffee shop that is the heart of the neighborhood, one block from good bistro-style restaurant, nice wine shop around the corner, three doors down from small park with playground.

Completely Private Apartment Within A Real Home: This apartment is completely private, with locked door, on the top-floor of a townhouse occupied by a family (us). On rare occasions, guests may see us in the hallway (two parents, a 6-year-old, and a very friendly dog named Lucy), coming in or out of the building. Guests can feel free to ask questions about NYC or the neighborhood at any time, but are also assured of privacy.

Payment: 1/2 Payment will be expected prior to the start of the vacation and the remainder of the payment upon arrival. Payment may be made online, through PayPal, or (if time allows) by check via postal mail.

Cancellation Policy: A full refund will be given if reservation is canceled 30 days in advance. At 15 days, 1/2 of the amount will be refunded. After that, the deposit is no longer refundable.

About Leecia & Mike

Mike & Leecia didn't grow up in NYC but they've come to love the vibrant life of one of the world's great cities. They own a mid-century modern furnishings business called I Like Mike's Mid-Century Modern with a by-appointment showroom on the first floor of their Brooklyn brownstone (come visit!), and enjoy a busy neighborhood life with their young daughter and very friendly dog Lucy.

Leecia & Mike purchased this apartment in 2005

Why Leecia & Mike chose Brooklyn

This house has a great location, near the subway and other attractions--like a playground and tennis court--and also provides the unique brownstone experience that you can't get in any other kind of dwelling. It's house living in the heart of the city. Stuyvesant Heights is a lovely historic area, rich in trees, churches, and brownstones--and it offers a retreat from the intensity of Manhattan while also being conveniently close.

What makes this apartment unique

This apartment has not one but two skylights, in addition to the two large windows. It has been restored with unusual care, with attention to comfort and detail.

Homely refuge from bustling New York

  • 4 of 5

After a busy day of sightseeing in New York it was lovely to return to the peaceful surrounds of Brooklyn and our comfortable apartment in a beautiful brownstone. Whilst small, the apartment met all our needs for our three weeks in New York. Whilst it is a studio there are three defined living spaces, kitchen/dining, living and sleeping. The bathroom is light drenched by a large skylight, best lighting we have ever had in a bathroom. It is a short walk to the A and C subway. Our hostess, Leecia, was absolutely delightful and made us feel so at home.

Wonderful Brooklyn apartment

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 11 day stay in Leecia and Mike"s home. The apartment has absolutely everything needed for a comfortable stay and Leecia gave us so much local knowledge including a detailed map of the area. It was very easy to get to Manhattan by subway and there are restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. We hope we get to visit again some time!

This is the best choice of description for this lovely studio apartment. It is cozy but has everything you need we stayed for 6 nights ate breakfast in most days to save money all amenities are here to cook if you want to. It's close to the subway and if you don't want to go into Manhattan every night there are lots of great restaurants nearby. Leecia is lovely and always on hand if you need anything. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

Quiet Upstairs Hide-away (Room #2)

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Leecia & family's little upstairs apartment while we were visiting our son (who lives literally around the corner). The apartment had everything we needed for our stay: comfortable bed, quiet space, small kitchenette w/sink, fridge, microwave & hotpot. There is a nice big window overlooking the back patio & yard below. We would absolutely stay there again if we get the chance! Leecia and her family live right downstairs, so getting the key and access to their apartment was made extremely easy and took ALL the stress out of this type of a rental. Thank you again!!
