Why Darlene Duncan chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

I cannot express the openness and peacefulness one experiences while staying in the Fort Point Cove Cottage. Stockton Springs houses its own lighthouse located in nearby Fort Point State Park, has its own local beaches and is centrally located along the coast: 40 miles to Ellsworth, Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, Blue Hill and Rockland/Rockport area; 25 miles to Bangor and Camden Hills; and just a hop and a skip to Belfast, known for its wonderful shops and restaurants, Bucksport featuring Fort Knox and the beautiful Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Winterport for its brewery and winery and Searsport with its 8 miles of antique shopping, its Maritime Museum and Moose Point State Park.

What makes this house unique

The FPCC is conveniently located so you can enjoy a wealth of events within a stone's throw of away. Just a small sampling of our 2017 season include:

4. Rockland's North Atlantic Blues Festival: July 15 - 16

14. Common Ground Country Fair in Unity: September 22 - 24

No doubt that summer is fantastic in the midcoast and Stockton Springs/Searsport area but, let's not forget our four season climate: Spring offers budding trees, blooming flowers and fresh maple syrup, Fall is filled with the vibrant changing colors of our abundant hardwood trees and the best time to enjoy fresh apple cider, Winter offers snowshoeing and cross-country skiing at Sears Island and many of the area parks, with downhill skiing nearby at the Camden Snow Bowl and Herman Mountain. Many of the Carriage Paths at Acadia National Park are also open for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Tranquility on Penobscot Bay was truly a wonderful experience for my entire family! Everything we needed was supplied and the house was very spacious and comfy! All of the beds had great mattresses which was so nice. The kitchen was well stocked. We loved the big yard surrounding the house and the blueberry bushes right off the side porch was an added plus! Every morning my grandchildren went out and picked their own berries for breakfast! We were in the area to attend a wedding at French's Point which was located just a few miles down the road! It was so convenient to participate in wedding events throughout the week! On our one rainy day there, we made a fire and just relaxed in the spacious living area! Loved having a gas grill out on the large deck that wrapped around the house and we used it almost every night! Rocking chairs on the deck for early morning coffee, too! The ages in our family went from 60's down to 1 year old and everyone had the best time ever! Would return to this special home in a heartbeat!

Nice property

  • 5 of 5

The property was as pictured, and the home itself was nice. Darlene was very sweet in asking us if we wanted to come a day earlier because the weekend we were arriving, the weather was dreary and drizzly. It was very peaceful and Darlene is extremely accommodating

Beautiful and relaxing home

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed all the comforts of home at Fort Point Cove Cottage in early October, 2016, and had a wonderful experience. The cottage is quiet, peaceful, and secluded with a beautiful view of the Penobscot Bay. We recommend sleeping in the loft and waking up to the picturesque sight of the sun rising over the water and hills in the distance. The outdoor seating on the deck and screened in porch was perfect for taking in the rich autumn colors each day, and we made good use of the fireplace in the living room during the cool, crisp evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to cook at home, and the nearby towns of Belfast and Bucksport were great for dinners out. Acadia and Bar Harbor are a reasonable drive from the cottage and an absolute must-see, especially during the autumn months. The house is clean and well-maintained, and Darlene is a wonderful and attentive owner who made sure we had everything we needed during our stay.

Our stay at Fort Point Cove Cottage, Stockton Spri

  • 5 of 5

Our family had terrific time. The cottage accommodated all in a spacious environment including a big screen TV for football. The backyard is large and provided plenty of space to let the dogs play. It offers a nice fire pit setting in the evening. There is a beautiful view of the ocean from inside the house or on a spacious deck and you can enjoy lobster which we picked up at Shute's just up the street and cooked at the house.

We visited the Bar Harbor village one day and hiked in the mountains in Acadia the next. The scenic views and foliage provided a perfect backdrop to the pictures.

I highly recommend staying here.

Best regards,

Ted Davenport

It was awesome

  • 5 of 5

The house is well stocked and has a peaceful view of the ocean from the back porch . We enjoyed the fire pit most evenings . Beds are comfy and the whole house is bright and roomy . My girls slept on blowups on the screened porch most evenings just to enjoy the cool Maine air. There are fresh blueberries off the screened porch. Everything was perfect !

We had a great relaxing stay that reinforces our commitment to move back to New Englan

We saw deer,

, Eagles, fireflies and wild turkeys. And yes the Milky Way too!!! Don't miss Winter Harbor where the freshest lobster rolls I ever had were only $13.00. And the local art is wonderful and inexpensive. One of Maines best kept secrets. The food where ever we went was delicious. Darlene is well loved here and a gracious hostess that gave us our privacy but saw to it that our needs were met and was always available should we have a question. The house is homey and well stocked with things you wouldn't have considered needing. We had a birthday girl during our stay and voila there was a birthday candle in the cup board. A great experience. Bring a frisbee. The backyard is perfect for it. Sheila Sprague
