About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Limit 6 people)

This guest house ensemble is located on a Lake Norman cove fed by BeaverdamCreek. The water is deep and inviting. It is a fantastic getaway for a couple, young family, fishermen or fisherwomen. The upstairs level has a queen size bed in the bedroom and a full bath. It has been newly outfitted with hardwood laminate and tile. The living-dining area is homey and the kitchen is fully equipped with all amenities. There is a dining room table for six. It has a new 40' flat screen TV and blu ray player. Wireless internet is provided. The living room opens to a deck to enjoy sunshine, morning coffee and lake view. Downstairs, a large, brand new second bedroom has been built and furnished with two queen size beds and flat screen TV and DVD player. It has its own half bath for convenience. In addition to the porch and the upstairs deck at part 2 of the guest house ensemble, our visitors also have the use of the covered patio and a second, eat in kitchen in Part 1 of the guesthouse ensemble. A gas grill, patio table and chairs, and swing are available to our guests so they can fully enjoy the stunning, 180 degree view of the lake!

The fishing and boating enthusiasts will be delighted with the use of the boat ramp and slip that come free with the guest house rental. A second slip may be rented for an added charge. Guests can rent a boat from local businesses or bring their own, insured boat and jetskis and avail themselves of the free boat slip. Swimming and fishing are enjoyed by many, and the lake is perfect for these activities. An added extra is the free use of our paddle boat, a Walker Bay rowboat, two kayaks, and a brand new 15.5 foot Old Towne canoe for those wanting a leisurely exploration of the cove.

Occupancy of the property may not exceed six people. Those six or less people are to be indicated on the agreement. Occupancy over the amount indicated will result in eviction and forfeiture of all rental monies. All rentals are to families and responsible adults (26yrs. or more) only. No high school, college or civic groups, chaperoned or not, are permitted. Violation is grounds for immediate termination.

We are pet friendly. Your small to medium size dog (40 lbs.) or cat (you may bring 2 animals) is welcome for $45 each per visit. You can include the fee for one dog or cat in your payment and bring the fee for the second dog or cat with you. I can only list one but I know there are those with two and we welcome two. Bring papers from vet that shows the animals are up to date on the shots including rabies shots. This is a state law.

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM OUR GUESTS:

Hi Jim and Vivia,

We had a great time. Jim and Vivia were gracious hosts. The residence was a short walk to the water, plenty of fish in the lake, warm water to swim in, quiet, and the kayaks were fun. The rooms were clean. That's two thumbs up for us! It's about a 5 to 6 mile ride to multiple restaurants and plenty to do. Thanks for your kindness. Ed and Judy

'Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the peace and tranquility of your guest home. We enjoyed the relaxing weekend and hospitality!' Vanessa

'Our week at the lake was so relaxing. The accommodations were comfortable and even my son said he felt like he was at home. I appreciated the respect and privacy you gave our family. We felt like we had the place to ourselves with the luxury of knowing help was just a call away if we needed anything. You both went out of your way to meet the needs of our family, and by the end of our stay I felt like we had made some special friends! I will definitely tell friends about your hospitality and the great accommodations waiting for them at Lake Norman. Thanks again!' Connie and Bill

'Thanks! Again, we had a very enjoyable stay!!! Your hospitality goes above and beyond what we could have expected. Steve says thanks for allowing him to use your new rowboat! We will see you again...' Joyce and family

My elderly mother and I recently visited North Carolina from Canada,

spending 13 nights at Jim and Vivia's lakeside property. We found the

couple to be pleasant and accommodating. The home offered us all the

necessary amenities in a country setting while being in close

proximity to shops and restaurants. The lake was beautiful and felt

like slipping into bath water. It was relaxing and scenic with ducks

and loons to watch while neighbors were fishing and boating nearby.

The accommodations offered plenty in the way of water based activities

to entertain all ages. Lake Norman and surrounding areas were ease to

navigate with several routes to avoid fast congested freeways. We

enjoyed our stay at the lake house and would highly recommend it for

your consideration. Deborah

Quiet lake getaway

  • 5 of 5

I visited this property with my wife and two children (ages 3 and 1). It worked well as a quiet vacation on the lake.

Pros:

- House was clean, well maintained, with good kitchen, washer/dryer, and lots of cute decorations.

- House was a good size & layout for my family. (2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom)

- House had lots of toys and books for my kids to play with.

- House had lots of boats & life jackets available. There was also a kiddie-pool available to set up, which my kids enjoyed.

- Hosts were friendly and helpful, but also able to give privacy.

Cons:

- The house wasn't set directly at the lakeside; it's set behind the host's house. However, it was easy to walk down the driveway to get access to the lake, dock, boats, etc. Also, the host provided access to their patio and basement floor, which is set at the lakeside. It worked out fine for us.

Overall, we had a great time. I would recommend this property to others.

My family and I had a great time! Vivia and Jim Tatum were great hosts, showed us around the property, and all the amenities available to us. We loved kayaking and just floating around the lake. The guest house was cozy and comfortable. We definitely plan to return there, hopefully next summer!
