Cozy cottage living on the water. This quaint, waterfront cottage exemplifies the simple life in a quiet, uncrowded neighborhood community occupied by tourists and full time owners alike.
The beach is just steps away, down the path surrounded by abundant compass grass, rosa rugosa and beach plum. Once there, you can enjoy the day with any activity in the warmth of the sun and the serenity of the sea and breeze.
You can be as active as you like. Ptown is two miles west... walk in (on the road or the beach at low tide), bike in or drive in, sit on the deck, sit on the beach, walk out on the sand bars at low tide (great for kids and dogs). The Truro town line is about two tenths of a mile to the east up route 6, so you are really on the outskirts of town (out of the madness, but close enough to enjoy it, if you like).
Seaweed's south facing, ample deck is sunny all day with spectacular views of the busy harbor of Provincetown with all its fishing and boating activity. It offers sleeping for four in two separate rooms. One queen size and the other, two single beds. There is one bathroom with toilet, sink and full tile shower. An un-enclosed outdoor shower is available on the east side of the house. The kitchen has a four burner gas stove, refrigerator, microwave and plenty of counter space. The cabinets have a full supply of tableware, etc. for dining in. The dining and living combination is at the south (water side) of the cottage with the door that exits to the deck. The patio furniture consists of four chairs, table with umbrella, two seat bench, and two extra chairs for company. A propane gas grill sits at the east side of the deck.
There is offstreet parking on the property for 2 cars within 50 ft of the cottage.
The owner frequently rents to families that want to be in proximity to each other. Seaweed is 5 Garfield St, while Beach Rose is across the street at 8 Garfield St (Homeaway property #188766)
Doug Traub and Beth Donovan are your Hosts. We live 2 doors down at 9 Garfield St. This our 4th season with Seaweed and we look forward to helping all our guests have a wonderful and satisfying vacation. We also are your hosts at Beach Rose (across the road at 8 Garfield St.).
Doug Traub purchased this cottage in 2012
One of the last true cottages in the area.
A beautiful setting on a beach looking at a breathtaking harbor scene.
We've stayed here four times, and it's just a perfect spot. The cottage has everything you need... it's cozy, comfortable, and right on the beach. Close enough to downtown P-Town that you can walk there, taking the beach the whole way. Short drives to great food in P-Town, Wellfleet, or cook on the outdoor grill. The house is very well kept, and the owners are very responsive, but never intrusive. The house is small, clean, and just so comfortable. Wifi, cable, a great grill and deck, and that beach. I recommend this to friends and family, but secretly hope they don't take the week I want. If you're looking for luxury, this might not be the place for you. But if you're looking to unplug, unwind, and have the beach at your doorstep, you will not be disappointed.
This little cottage is the perfect way to experience P-Town. It is close enough to town to get there in five minutes by vehicle, but it is right on the harbor, which makes for beautiful views when the sun is rising or setting. The tides go way out in the harbor twice a day and you can walk out for hundreds of yards. Our dog absolutely loved the freedom that the quietness afforded him. There were few people around so he was able to play off of his leash. The view from the deck includes the Freedom Tower and the lighthouses at the tip of the Cape. It is truly beautiful!
The cottage is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable vacation. We appreciated the HBO on cable, as it was a weekend with a new episode of Game of Thrones :) The owners, Doug and Beth, were very friendly and made themselves available in case we needed any assistance. They also promptly replied to all of my e-mail inquiries and were flexible about timing. Thank you both!
My mother came with us and is already trying to plan a trip back. She said that the best thing was the peace and quiet. She described it as the perfect place to write a book.
This is a great Provincetown property on a perfect piece of land near the water.
Beautiful little cottage right on the beach on the outskirts of Provincetown. It's a great spot for beach-walking and a short drive to downtown Provincetown and ocean-side beaches. The owners are two houses away and are friendly and helpful. We stayed there with our two teenagers and had a great time.
Seawood is located right on the beach in an accessible location a mile or so out of Provincetown. There is a frequent shuttle bus and it's a few minutes by bike or car to the town. The cottage has everything you might need including a gas grill on the deck, comfortable beds and a powerful shower (and also an outdoor shower). We brought two dogs and it was lovely to be able to walk out the door in the morning and take them along the beach. The owners have a house nearby and were extremely helpful even to the point of driving us into town at one point. Provincetown is a beautiful place and we definitely want to come back to stay at Seaweed. Highly recommended.
Cozy Seaweed has an amazing location with a front-row beach view and access. It was quite relaxing sitting on the deck anytime of day. We brought our two dogs and had a great time on the beach and in the water with them. The beds were comfortable and we found everything we needed to cook and grill as well. It is located just minutes from P-town, either driving or biking, so is the best of all worlds. Doug, the owner, lives close by, and was very attentive to anything we might need. He even mailed back to us a jacket we left behind! We will definitely be coming back again!
My partner and I stayed for week in Aug 2012. Location is perfect - close to town via bus (bus stop is one block away), bike or foot - without the noise. Charming cottage, immaculately clean. Spent a lot of time on the beautiful, sunny deck looking out over the dunes. Doug, the owner, lives two doors down and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - including onsite support for lighting the grill on a windy day. Only regret is that we did not bring my dog as vacationers with dogs were having a great time playing on the beach. Friendly neighbors. Recommend this place highly.
A typical day can begin in many different ways, but an early morning rise and a easy run into town is my cup of coffee. At this time the charter fishing boats are getting underway, the lobstermen are heading out to sea to garner their catch and some of the tourists are up visting their favorite coffee shop. Most will walk their dogs out the length of the harbor pier for the morning constitutional, but some will walk out to the Ptown Inn and walk the length of the dike out to the Wood End Light.
My round trip takes me 4 miles to and fro down Commercial St past all the shops and restaurants that are still asleep for the most part. The smell of coffee and bacon on the grill for the breakfast goers while not unique is special when the sea breeze mixes them with the salt air. The traffic and number of tourists picks up on the way home.
So now, it's time for my breakfast on the porch while gazing out at the bay. The fishing boats are headed out to ply their trade, the parasail boat is towing his customers to lofty heights with a rainbow colored sail and the blue & white whale watch boats are also on their way past Long Point to Stellwagon Bank. I see the Eider ducks, Cormorants and Least Terns flying to feeding grounds far away. And, of course the ubiquitous Seagull, looking for a free leftover meal at the waters edge.
So now to do something constructive before play time. Maybe a small project while sitting on the porch talking to the neighbors who are greeting the day. OK, let's do something fun. How about kayaking into town for a mid morning snack or out to Long Point through open harbor for an exhilerating ride. Maybe a walk through the dunes on a path to the Atlantic side to see the seals and the possibility of a whale spouting. What about going down to the beach to comb it for glass, shells and whatever flotsam and jetsam should come my way? How about getting in a boat for some fishing at Race Point? Possibly gathering up a chair, a book, a drink and a walk down to the beach: that would use up the morning in an appropriate way after all... I'M ON VACATION!
We can do this together; the whole family. Let's see what's for lunch. Ptown offers whatever fare you desire. So leave the car and take the bikes ('cause the parking is tough) downtown 2 miles for the best in all the fried stuff that is so tasty, but may not be the best for you. Walk around a bit, discover what's there and then get on the bike for an excursion through town and then the Province Lands bike traills. Start out towards Herring Cove Beach with its new Bath House. This will take a while so be prepared with water, etc. Use your cell phone to make reservations for tonights romantic dinner (at the new restaurant you found) while you're resting on the beach at Race Point. Now, go up to the National Park's Visitor center for future activity suggestions and exhibits to be seen.
Well, we're almost done with the ride back to Seaweed. Could think about some mundane thing like grocery shopping for tomorrow, if you have a basket on your bike. Some tonic for your favorite libation at the nearby package store? Or a soda for the road.
OK, back at Seaweed. An evening outdoor shower, towels on the line in the southwest sea breeze, some clean clothes, some nice hors D'oeuvres sounds like the leadup to a beautiful cocktail hour and sunset.
Well, what DID get done today? Let's see, got some exercise, had some nice food, found more places to go and see. Really, just a great time. Don't worry, this happens all the time. And, that's what it is all about: Time. Spend it wisely with family and loved ones.
I think you'll enjoy Seaweed!
Have a great vacation!
